Maybe the "I Never ment to hurt you" line was used in Buffy or Angel too...It's all jumbled up for me.
PostPosted: Fri Jan 19, 2007 12:06 pm

That line is a total cliché. You hear it everywhere.

The problem Clark was referring to was the Zoners, although not all that clear. When he was talking about taking care of other problems I kept having flashbacks to Lexana and stuff and was like "What? How is your social life more important than 33.1?"

That's why they threw in the comment about Zoners at the beginning, though, because it's been so long since Clark actually dealt with one they figured we needed reminding.

please dont tell me that stuff i havent seen it yet heer it dosnt air for another hour and i dont want anyone to ruin it for me all i heard was that clark dosnt join them yet and i already didnt want to hear that so please do at least me a favor and shut up for another hour then u can gab all u want evil

Seeing as this is the current episode discussion, people are obviously going to be talking about it meaning, if they saw it, they will talk about it. You should have at least known that. Use some common sense here people!

The episode was ok for me. I mean I wasn't really surprised about anything, I already knew everything that was going to happen; the episode was just adding in images and video to that. Also, when the five were walking away from the explosion, the song "which backstreet boy is gay," went through my mind. The scene just seemed a little queer to me, but whatever. Oh, did Chloe's codename change from Watchdog to Watchtower? Or am I just being paranoid and weird.

Speaking of queer, what is the deal with AC and the semi-homoerotic comments?

Personally, I thought it sucked. I couldn't believe that Oliver, with near-unlimited resources, would have to turn to Chloe to locate Bart. Again, Clark being turned into a cliché RPG female (cf. #149) is humiliating. The whole episode just didn't do it for me.

At least they remembered that AC, having dated Lois (despite being "wet and ready" for Clark - his words, not mine) might be interested in how she was doing.

EDIT: "Sucked" is way harsh.
PostPosted: Fri Jan 19, 2007 3:50 pm

"Sucked" might be a little harsh but it isn't that far from the truth. It was under average but it didn't suck entirly.

Even if there isn't Lana, they find away to add in that drama. Loliver is over, at least it ended better then Clana did. I mean at least Ollie admitted he loved her unlike Clark.

Apparently a lot of people loved the episode though, at least everyone I talked to and the people on tv.com rated it a 9.9. I don't really agree with them but whatever.

I loved the episode. I woulda given it 10/10 if it weren’t for how cheesy all the heroes looked when walking away from the warehouse, and with the camera zooming in… It just made me laugh.

Another reason why I loved the episode was because Lana wasn’t in it. ‘Nuff said.

I think it set things up nicely for the future episodes. It showed that there are times in life when love is forced to take a backseat in light of greater and much more threatening events. The life of a hero—or a hero-to-be—is demanding, leaving no room for excuses or half promises. Indulging in the pleasures of the heart results in painful consequences. Ex: Clana stupidity, which went on forever.

Lex was Lex, which was a refreshing change from the one we’ve seen in past episodes: no more overused, whiny comments—Lana loves me; get the ******** off my property, Clark; Lana loves me; Marry me, damnit!-or weak attempts at a debonair and cunning nature. Nope, it was good, ol’ Young Lex at work: from his casual backhand retort to his father regarding his inability to make sense of things in his old age to his “horizontal hamster wheel of doom” to his astonished look of being cut, it showed the dark seeds of the one who would inevitably inherit the Luthor name. And the shadow his twisted boughs will cast threatens to be very large indeed, judging from his actions in Justice.

I have to applaud how the breakup scene between Lois and Oliver was handled. Unlike the Clana fiasco, I was actually moved by the performance. Perhaps it’s because Lois has proven to be a tough girl from the start, and for her vulnerable side to be exposed so clearly, that was nice. Painful—in a good way—but nice. And Oliver has been an instant favourite since he appeared; I loved the idea of Lex having to deal with a not-so-dead ghost of his past life.

And AC does have some problems. Either he’s gay in the comics or the writer(s) decided to have some of the wrong sort of fun. Anywho, he’s still cool. Everyone was cool.

The special effects, the acting, the general direction and the directing of the episode—did I mention no Lana?!?—made it great.

EDIT: I do realize that I’m currently posting while in my “Smallville induced highs”. Meaning, that if my initial reaction to the episode was disgust, I will tear it down. If I felt ecstatic, then I will boost that sh*t all the way up!

After thinking straight, I’ll begin to see some of the faults of the eppy. 4laugh

Lex has a sort of fetish for anything concerning meteor rocks. Or perhaps it should be regarded as his segway (sp?) into true evil: through deciphering the secrets of the meteor rocks, which is made manifest in “freaks”, he would be able to utilize this new power however he pleases, potentially making him the most lethal and powerful man on earth. Might sound overdramatic, but when you think about it, it makes sense.

Anywho, the point is, Lex deals with meteor rocks. Clark went in, saw the RESTRICTED door, proceeded based on logic, and was KOed. It sucks, yeah, it may seem cheap, yes, but it happened. And it was another reason for the pre-Justice League to get moving: not only did they have to save Bart, but Clark would eventually die from the continuous exposure to Kryptonite.

There’s only so much the writers can do—although at times, in other episodes, it seems as if they don’t bother stare —but in this current situation, it worked.

I wanted to see Clark go all out though, but the other team members made up for it. ^^

Smallville is my #1 show, it is just that Justice isn't my #1 episode is all.

I didn't really see it like that. I saw it more as them realising that they had to break Lollie up because Oliver wasn't going to be around anymore; it felt like a token appearance from Lois just because she had to be there (and we're back to season five). At least they had a much "better" break-up than Clana, because the break-up allowed the relationship some significance and dignity.

It didn't work for me. Their plot devices were really transparent and frankly I thought they could do better.

Gotta say as far as seeing the Justice League together in costume, their interaction, and the fact that their origins were at least touched upon, that was cool (except for that one slow-motion shot). I also got a kick out of the codenames situation, and also the little comment about Bart not getting to pick his own codename. For Smallville, that's quite a subtle little way of referring to the fact that they weren't allowed to call him Flash.
