"What?" Seth looked genuinely confused. "Who said I was planning a rebellion or an escape through your newsletter? I never said that, I didn't say anything about a rebellion or an escape at any point." He paused. "I've given up on it. All I do these days is wander around the island establishing territory, drinking beer, and sleeping in my duplex." He scratched his chin with a claw. "Even if I was planning something like that, which I'm not, I wouldn't put it in a newsletter printed by the same people I'm trying to escape from. That's just suicide. It's crazy. It would never work."

He shrugged. "All I said was that I wanted to put a coded message in your newsletter. It could actually be about anything, right?" He paused for a moment. "I have the basic idea of the code thought out, but the finer details need to be worked on, because otherwise that would make it all too easy to crack. I want to make a really hard-to-crack code, afterall. It would really make people think."

He smirked.

"Jordan needs more than a visit. He needs a klonk on the head."

Richard didn't look like he believed a word that Seth was saying about not escaping. "Un uh. Wait, establishing territory?" A flash of genuine concern washed over Richard's face.

"Well if you want to make brainteasers go right ahead. Make sure we can publish the solution in the next issue. Oh and the labs arn't involved at all, besides the paper and the ink."

He only nods at the comment about Jordan.

"Yes, territory." The thylacine in him was speaking now. "See this path? It is mine. See the jungle back there? That is mine too. In between sleeping and being passed out drunk, I've been walking around this island establishing territory and I've made a lot of things mine." He smirked at the end of his statement like he had just made a proud acheivement, and gave Richard a toothy grin.

Seth seemed almost dissapointed as Richard stated publishing solutions in the next issue of the newsletter. "Ah no way, how's it going to make a puzzle any fun if you print the solution?"

Richard peers back over Seth's shoulder towards the path. "Your path eh? You don't think thats a little odd?" Richard almost asked if how he marked it but decided that wasn't something that he really wanted to know.

Richard grinned at Seth's disappointment. "Why everyone's got to see the solution to realize just how dumb they are."

"No?" Seth glanced back over his shoulder, looking back at the path, his jungle area. "I treaded the ground, my pawprints mark the tracks. It's mine." A few months ago, such a thing might have sounded and felt absolutely ridiculous to him. But more and more recently, it felt... normal. Realizing he was now standing there and silent, he quickly added "For as long as I'm here, anyway."

He smirked at Richard's statement about why the solution had to be printed.

"I wonder how many people here will actually attempt the puzzles." He shook his head. "I can think of some that wouldn't bother, but it'd be interesting to see if anybody actually bothered to try sitting there and working them out."

He glanced over at his shirt. It was already partially dried in the heat. "So what were you doing here anyway?"

Richard grimaced when Seth acted like claiming territory was normal. He had at least noticed his altered sleeping habits, even if he couldn't seem to do anything about it. "I think... bah nevermind." It wasn't worth it.

"Anyway, you'll need to make them to find out. You've got a month." Richard hoped to make the newletter monthly, assuming he got enough material. He stood, fluffing his shirt, "I'm fishing," Richard pointed to whence he came. "I've got a fishing spot back there."

"I'll give them something that'll tax their brains, just you wait." Seth smirked. "A month is ample time to come up with something. I think we have a deal there."

He glanced towards the river. "Fishing, ey?" He grinned. "I hope you're not using a fishing rod. It's certainly warm enough to get in there and try catching them yourself. My father took me on a trip to the Murray River once. It's easy enough to catch yabbies by hand, if you can find em that is."

He smirked at Richard. "What animal are you turning into? You could probably catch something useful with your claws, if you were fast enough."

Richard would sooner use a stick and a string than catch fish with his bare hands. Catching something was besides the point, Fishing was something normal for Richard. A way to forget where he actually was and imagine he was sitting on the bank of a creek back home in Connecticut. He visibly huffed up, his tentacles rising from behind his back at the suggestion that he fish like an animal. If it came down to surivival he'd use those but that wasn't the point. "I fish with a rod, like a person." He was unable to keep the hint of a growl out of his voice.

He turned to leave, "A cat that never existed." A Female cat his mind added helpfully, he shuddered involuntarily. "If you don't mind there's a spotted something or other with my name on it. I'll see you later." He tried to take the edge off his voice, make it more friendly, he succeeded only partially.

Seth raised an eyebrow at Richard's response - a cat that never existed? Was that supposed to be cryptic? He noted that the other man seemed aggitated as the... things on his back were raised. He also growled. Perhaps he had been insulted too?

"Heh," He grinned, trying to take the edge off Richard's current mood. "And I'm extinct. I doubt a whole lot of people know what a thylacine is, even if I told them that was my animal. They'd have to look it up in the encyclopedia."

"Have fun." Seth nodded as Richard turned to leave. He picked up his shirt and carried it off with him, heading off in his own direction back into the jungle, and resumed his attempts to expand his territory, pondering to himself about what kind of messages he should be putting in the newsletter.
