My parents don't really mind whether I play or not. My dad has a habit of picking on every little note I play wrong, But I do get my fair share of praise too. ^^

Anze So what do your parents say about you playing guitar? What do they think about you possibly "making it big?" My mom isn't so supportive(actually, she's not supportive at all, all she does is b!@#$ about the noise and why I can't play more "soft rock" crap on the local "soft rock radio station"), mainly because she doesn't like the music I play and my dad makes no comment but he knows I'm working at it... It's fine if they said nothing at all, but what really got me was that my mom told me that I had no talent on it and that really pissed me off seeing that I work so hard on it. Doesn't even want me to go professional either! Grr... Doesn't even want to support me in trying to "make my dreams come true." According to her, I'm "normal. You have no talent, you're not smart, you can't do anything, so you're better off doing normal things."(direct quote) That pisses me off so much... I can already imagine what I'm going to say in the "Thanks to:" notes in the album booklet in the future: "Thanks to all of my friends who supported me and the band, but no thanks to my unsupportive mom." >/ I'll shove it in her face too, that's how pissed off I get about this... But enough about me, what about you guys? >.< why do you care ??? its more on you anyway , you dont need that bagage . there are guys that get support and some dont . Just do it cause ya want to , plus alot of people that get lots support(am not saying everybody cause I got lots of support)they get realy spoiled razz But just forget about and PLay !!! By they way unless your parents know music , and I mean know it like they know there stuff . Dont lesson . ^_^

my parents don't mind, my dad likes it because he plays too, and the most mom ever says to me about it is "please turn it down a bit" but she doesn't care

Hey man, sorry about your mom, but, my parents are very encouraging, I'm only like 13, and they say I could quite possibly become the next SRV, or whatever, but yeah, that's my support, peace mrgreen

I don't live with my parents, so I don't have to worry about them. Even still I hang out with them a lot (My dad's a teacher at the college I go to, and my mom's still going to school) and they think it's great. My parents have always tried to get me into music, and doing things I can enjoy without involving electronic games. When I first moved out, I played guitar almost every second that I wasn't at home, now I still play a lot, but I'll get on the net from time to time.

my grandpa is more supportive of me than my grandma. she always buggin me when i'm lookin at guitars and tells me that i'm going to have so many i wont beable to get around in my room. then i tell her its and investment.
my grandpa on the other hand says, "if you find a gibson les paul for around $500 dollars i'll buy it." and then "you need to save up to buy a les paul." hes kinda on the other side of the spectrum. but both are happy i play guitar.

My mom acts supportive, but I hate it when I say what I want to be, and my mom says "hopefully he'll change his mind by the end of high school" [also direct quote] Except I want to be a professional saxist. (I'm a guitarist too, but sax is what I really love.

My mom doesn't seem to care, as long as I'm doing something productive. My dad is pretty supportive about it, though. 3nodding
