metaljesse Kilz88 Yea i agree, urza could have gone. I would have pefered to see city of brass again. Especially cause i just ganked one from some dumb a** at regionals that just got up and walked away after my scout and nail disgraced him. After he cranial 'd for tooth. Sideing out is fun...hehe. They are pushing white weenie and quite frankly, it makes me sick. I utterly dispise white being offensive. Thats not what its for. You compine it with cool stuff like green, that wins games. Attacking with a bunch oh stupid pegasus' and kitties is the most useless win condition ever. Why dont i walk over there and stomp you with a bunch of meloku tokens. That is cooler than relieing on "jitte". Yeah, City would have been nice. Now, don't get me wrong, I love White Weenie. One of my favorite decks ever...however, they are pretty much giving WW everything it needs minus Armegeddon (which would've been kick a** for me) to be a top tier deck. The lack of 'Geddon and the rotation of the two Swords will definitely hurt the archetype. They lose The two Swords, Bonesplitter, Leonin Skyhunter, Auriok Champion, and Mask of Memory, but that's all the important stuff, and we can find replacements for everything except the Swords (WW rides on the back of Sword of Fire/Ice, no doubt). I think the archetype will dye away after a while, but will still be good...just not as awesome as it is now. Jitte will keep WW alive, but just barely. The deck will probably evolve into a more White Skies style deck, using Hikori, Dust Drinker to control the game towards WW's liking. Jitte, among other less-than-awesome equipment will have to take the place of Swords and Splitter, or perhaps some creature Enchantments. Who knows. Green looses a lot of stuff after rotation that 9th just doesn't help with. Beacon, Swords, Troll, Witness, Zealot...it's just most of green's good cards go away. Same with red (Blinkmoth Nexus, Magma Jet, Molten Rain, Slith Firewalker, Swords, Vulshok Sorceror...gah.) and black...uh...they lose Captain Smiley (Chittering Rats), Blinkmoth Nexus, Chrome Mox, Barter in Blood, and Echoing Decay....that's about it. The main loosers in the rotation will be Green, White, and Blue (they lose Blinkmoth Nexus and Vedalken Shackles...that's a big ******** deal)...so the new type 2 will be EXTREMELY interesting. This will be my first time playing where Mirrodin wasn't legal...yeah. I hope things will be fun, unlike now with Tooth dominating. I hate to excite you but....skyhunter is still in. 9th is reprinting it so...More for WW i guess. You right about everything else but...The deck i am acually playing, (unlike the two "ideas" i posted in here), is in the regional thread and the post your deck thread...check um out and let me know what you think... wink

Anyone note that these are coming back in 9th?
Hypnotic Specter -- Even without Dark Ritual, the Hippie is still a force to be recoked with. With a random discard, the Hippe can start screwing over gameplans as soon as turn 4.
Hell's Caretaker -- Very fun to combo off things like Kokusho or any of the other spirit dragons, Hell's Caretaker will find a place once again in Recursion decks.
Kird Ape -- Kird Ape is essentially a 2/3 on turn 2, extremely powerful back in the day, and still extremely powerful now.
Apocalypse Pain Lands -- Battlefield Forge, Cave of Koilos, Shivan Reef, Yavimaya Coast, and Llanowar Wastes.
Sengir Vampire -- Black staple, like Hypnotic Specter was/is.

Cards coming back in 9th that excite me:
White Blinking Spirit - Quite possibly THE most annoying blocker white ever managed to produce. Kamigawa spiritcraft deck players are gonna love this little b*****d.
Serra's Blessing - Much, much better than Vigilance from Kamigawa. For only 1 colorless mana more, I get an enchantment that gives all of my creatures vigilance instead of just one, and I don't have to worry about it going away if one of those creatures bites it.
Blue Clone - Ah, another classic annoying creature. Can you say Darksteel Colossus for 3U? Or how about automatic death sentence for any Legendary creatures on the opponent's side of the field?
Traumatize - Mill decks are back, baby. Screw you, Battle of Wits!
Black Hell's Caretaker - I have a Chronicles version of this guy that I absolutely adored to death back in the day. Reanimator has a new best friend.
Hypnotic Specter - I never managed to get any of these back when I first started playing. But I will acquire them this time around. Nothing says loving like discard pressure on turn 4 (3 if you Mox him out).
Sengir Vampire - YAY! Sengie's back! ^_^ ... What, you want me to elaborate on why I'm ecstatic that they're bringing back one of black's most powerful old-school beaters? 4/4 flying for 5 that grows bigger whenever it feeds is nothing to scoff at y'know.
Yawgmoth Demon - Even with Mirrodin rotating out of Standard later this year, there's enough cogs between 9th and Kamigawa block to feed good ol' Yawgie long enough to send 6 points of flying first striking bitchslap down an opponent's throat.
Red Bloodfire Colossus - Big. Expensive. Nasty. And I've got 4 Apocalypse ones that are just begging to raise some hell in Standard.
Goblin Balloon Brigade - Ah... the return of a classic red weenie. I only pray they leave the flavor text alone.
Kird Ape - Red/green beats just got its favorite one-drop back. Turn-one Llanowar? Psh! As if!
Rathi Dragon - 5/5 flyer for only 4-mana? Hell yeah! Sign me up! Even after Mirrodin rotates out of Standard, Seething Song (also in 9th) will be able to pop this bad boy out on turn 3.
Thundermare - Another 5/5, this one who shuts down anything that might block him. Granted, your guys get shut down, too, but Seething Song can once again power him out early enough to hopefully make sure that doesn't matter.
Green Truthfully, I didn't see too much that excites me in green, other than the return of Llanowar Elves. I'd b***h about BoPs being gone from the Core Set, but seeing as how fate has never seen fit to allow me to acquire BoPs with which to play, I'm not really too upset about it.
Artifacts Fellwar Stone - Not the greatest source of artifact mana in the world, but still not too bad.
Jester's Cap - Finally... after all these years... another shot at getting one... crying
Lands Finally... dual-lands in Standard that actually make opposed-color decks possible... and decent aligned-color dual lands, too.

Dude...what the hell. I dunno if the rest of you see this but what they're printing in green is going to make Tooth rock. Verdent Force, Greater Good, Llanowar Elves, Silklash Spider, and Seedborn Muse. X_X ok lets go down the list shall we. Verdent Force is just mean. 7/7 beatstick that craps out chump blockers every turn. Greater Good makes their deck three times as good because if you do solve the problem of killing their creatures wow they sack it off. How lame. Llanowar elves are like birds in most cases. Sillash Spider handles the problem of fliers in green and for tooth to. Imagine how much it could do with the "tron" out. and seedborn muse almost ensurres you'll never do s**t against them because all their huge bulking monsters will untap after smacking your face. Oh and that means Kiki jiki every turn to. sucks. Tooth is gona be fun to play after this.

Im not gonna use 9th to better it though...Im movin on cause its not gonna be around for a while and i would rather put effort into block for PTQ LA or just post-mirroden standerd...

Oh and that means Kiki jiki every turn to. sucks. Tooth is gona be fun to play after this. Now, Not to rain on anyone's parade, but why would you bother changing tooth? The deck's main combos, from what I can tell, are Platinum Angel/Leonin Abunas (sideboard only, nowadays), Sundering Titan/Kiki-Jiki, and Mephidross Vampire/Triskelion. Now, just Sundering Titan is enough to wrech most decks, but the fact that it can come out as early as turn 4 is no joke (sometimes turn 3, from what I've heard). It's quite silly to think that there's a more potent combo than wrecking your land-base and attacking for 7 as soon as you resolve tooth. I don't think Verdant Force will be that strong at all. He's way too expensive for our type 2 enviroment. The main reason he was awesome before was you could cheat him into play with Reanimation (yeah yeah, Zombifie and Hell's Caretaker, whatever...I'm talking 1st turn reanimator), or use Natural Order to put him into play on turn 3 by sacrificing an elf or bird. Greater Good, whilst every cool, might not see much play. I'm wanting to build a Black/Green/Blue Reanimator that takes advantage of V-Force, Caretaker, Zombifie, Greater Good, mana accel, etc etc. With the pain-lands, that all the easier. I'm more than willing to sacrifice a Kokusho to Greater Good to have a good chance of drawing either a reanimation spell, or another Kokusho. Plus, is gives Reanimator a better Sacrifice enabler than Spawning Pit, and can generate a s**t-ton of card advantage. Who knows, I think that Reanimator will be a very viable deck, even after rotation...but you guys know me..I have to run green in it. Tooth really doesn't get anything except Llanowar, and those are kinda moot. 5c green gets Utopia Tree, which will rock along with Birds in Ravnica. Red, no matter the build, gets freak-awesome artifact mana and gets seething song back, along with Wildfire. I predict that Wildfires.dec might be a very formitable force. Imagine crapping out a Rathi Dragon on turn 2, then a Wildfire on turn 3-5. That wins a lot of games..and with 9th looking like it does, it's completely possible.

Holy s**t, can anybody say White Weenie? White's getting its staple Mirrodin flyer back (Skyhunter), and gets Soul Warden (possibly one of the most powerful white weenies ever printed, next to Mother of Runes) thrown into the mix. Paladin en-Vec is a ******** house, Peace of Mind saves games, and Blinking Spirit is just plain fun. Sacred Ground's coming back, so my sideboard can keep Ponza on its toes.
Add in all of the Kamigawa goodies and this T2 rotation is going to be fun. I can't wait for the new block to roll around.
