Today, Kaori was a lucky man. He didn’t have to stand in malls, parks, or schools. They had a new Pretear. Oh crap… Kaori was the unluckiest man in the world. That Pretear just had to be that tough. Yesterday, even though she still thought them crazy, she had preted twice with Kaori and after some time destroyed the Larva. She definitely needed training. A lot of training. Now Kaori’s back was perfectly normal, not even a mark indicating he was ever injured. He was back to full health, unlike Faia. The knight of fire still needed more healing than usual.

It was strange though. Why couldn’t Faia heal himself? He should be able to. Shouldn’t he? Kaori pondered this as he passed the coffee shop he had gone to the other day. He had yet to pay for the cup of coffee, but he didn’t have any money on him. So, he darted quickly pass. He was safe until the next time he wanted coffee.

As usual, this Knight of Light got odd looks, no he was not in his Leafe Knight clothing, but more in his elegant gothic lolita. Today, he wore a silky button down black shirt with red stitching of spider webs. The shirttails were quite long in the front. Kaori wore black pants that stopped several inches below his knees with two chains criss crossing in the back. He still wore his usual sneakers and a pair of red and black striped arm warmers. Kaori still wore the same thick black eyeliner, though no hat. His hair was pulled back into a ponytail… well; some of his hair was in a ponytail...

Kaori hadn’t been in the park long when he heard voices. In fact, the voices were quite annoying… especially that female one… He walked over to the fountain and looked into the water. Yet, that voice seemed so familiar… how?

His mind flashed back to the day before. A fist flew toward Kaori’s face… the next moment he knew, he was on the floor. Kaori snapped back to the present.

“Oh, crap, not her!” said Kaori, as he placed a hand over his annoyed face. He could almost feel the pain. “Stupid hag…” he muttered…

Tae was walking with Master Fujita through a park. Her Master wore a long white cloak to match his black Yukata. She knew he was wearing his katana underneath that cloak. Since he was Master, he got special permission to carry it along with him, just so long as he didn?t draw it. She smiled as they continued to talk rapidly, their voices rising with each passing word.

Soon the started arguing over what should be where in the festival and how the students should contribute. This was growing to be an old argument, yet neither Master nor student was quite ready to give on his, or her, positions.

Tae started waving her hand around as she and Master started yelling at each other, walking completely forgotten.

"No! We need a show! We are a sword dojo after all, and we need students and money!"

"That goes against any tradition we uphold! No show!"

"We have sparring matches all the time, and tournaments!"

"Tournaments are fine but against other dojos, not ourselves!"

"What?s the difference?!"

And on and on it went...

"We should have food close to the dojo! That way people can get shelter while they eat!"

"What if the dojo burns down, huh? Have the food in the clearing!"

"We should have games in the clearing, so we have room for that!"

"You know, there's only one way to solve this," the master said, finally, his eyes narrowed.

"I do indeed. Here and now?" Tae answered, standing at her full five foot seven inches height, glaring back.

"Of course."

They both stood back, raising their fists. Sparks flew between their two heated glares. Tae stood back, putting most of her weight on her back foot while Master placed his two fists at his sides, standing a slight crouch.

"For the clearing!" Tae yelled at him, powering up.

"Near the dojo!" Master yelled back, a snarl on his lips.

People passed on by, giving the two a wide berth. They were used to this kind of behavior from the Master and his student.

Tae rushed at her master, aiming a low front kick at his stomach. He dodged to the side.

"Whup! Careful you don?t trip!" he grinned, aiming a roundhouse at her ribs. She grinned and, using one arm to catch his kick, sent a front kick to his chin, still on one leg. Master was barely able to block it, but since both of them were on one leg and hopping around like a bunch of toads, refusing to let each other go, they both fell into a tangled heap on the grass.

Tae let go of Master's leg and pounced on him, grappling him to the ground. Normally, this might have worked, but Master literally picked her off him and leapt on top of her instead. With a series of headlocks, insults, knee and elbow jabs, and more insults they fell apart panting and covered in grass stains as well as bruises.

Master Fujita sat down and clapped his hands. ?Come, we need menus, and bring me some sake!? he called. Looking his voice, slightly, he asked, ?Would any of you like some??

Tae shook her head, a blush forming on her cheeks. She was so used to Master?s behavior that sometimes she forgot how rowdy it could be. Taking her menu, she hid behind it then smiled slightly at Faia. ?No one wins,? she said, answering his long ago asked question of who won the argument. ?We usually come to an agreement that suits both of us.? She glanced at Tomo. ?Tomo, is anything wrong?? she asked. ?You have the most unusual expression on your face.?

Faia?s daydreams of breakfast were interrupted when Tae?s master asked about Sake. ?Umm, no thank you. Just tea for me please, and the breakfast special,? he responded. Then, hearing Tae?s inquiry and seeing Tomo?s discomfort, he whispered, ?Yeah, are you okay? You seem worried.?

?Hm?? Tomo looked up from his own menu at the staring eyes. He smiled the best he could, although it was hard to do such with something eating in the back of his mind. ?I?m fine,? he lied. ?Just a little dazed from exhaustion.? He set his menu down calmly. ?I think I?m just going to have a cup of coffee, I?m not really hungry anymore.? Besides, how could he eat with his thoughts plastered to something else?

Faia grimaced. ?Coffee? Just like Kaori. I don?t? understand how you guys can drink that stuff. It?s gross!? Faia said, making a face to emphasize his dislike of the drink.

Tomo smirked at Faia?s comment. ?It?s what keeps me sane,? he laughed, knowing he probably made no sense.

Fujita smirked and took a swig of sake. Then, looking down in his cup, he smiled. ?When you are older, you will understand the true meaning of Sake. I?ll have the cheese and ham omelet,? he told the shaking waiter. He smirked, enjoying intimidating people.

Tae smiled at her master, knowing he took his sake extremely seriously. ?I?ll have tea and a bagel with a scrambled egg,? she said. She glanced back at Tomo. Something was wrong, and it wasn?t just fatigue.

Faia shook his head. Sake he could understand. He had tasted it on several occasions but COFFEE? He would never understand why anyone would drink that bitter liquid!

?Keeps you sane huh?? he asked, ?I suppose I never want to see you on a day without coffee then. And eat SOMETHING! You have to be starved!?

Tomo simply gave Faia his mysterious expression, the one no one could read. ?I must be on my way,? he said, suddenly standing up. He bowed respectively before Master Fujita and Tae, taking out a couple bills and leaving them on the table for the coffee. He never did believe in relying on someone else to pay for him. ?I?m sorry about the sudden leave,? he said with a smile, then left, seeming almost as if he was in a rush.

It wasn?t that he didn?t enjoy the company. Naturally, he enjoyed being with people that always brought amusement. But he didn?t want to worry them any longer. Selfishness was not in his vocabulary.

Now, to find out what?s wrong, he thought and headed down the street, putting his hands in his pockets.

Faia frowned as Tomo left. “I hate it when he does that,” he muttered, then egarly turned his attention to his breakfast with a smile. “Oh, good, I’m STARVED!” he said, getting a few strange looks, which he ignored, from the other patrons due to his loud exclamations over his food.

Tae watched silently as Tomo left before standing as well. “I forgot to put in that order, Master, that you wanted. While my food gets here, I’ll go do that real quick,” she said. She bowed as she rushed out of the restaurant.

Master looked up. “But… your food… oh, baka apprentice. I know she put that order in yesterday,” he sighed as she dug into his food, “Guess its just you and me now. Good, I have a couple questions.” He grinned like a shark scenting blood.

Faia’s eyes widened as Tae left him with her scary master, then widened even more when that master said he had questions. “Umm… o… kay…” he gulped, “What do you want to know?”

The master took a bite and chewed slowly, enjoying tormenting the other man. Swallowing, he took a sip of sake. “So, Faia was it? What is your relationship with my idiot student?” he asked, with another grin.

Faia almost choked on his food at the question. “Relationship?” his eyes grew wide again, “Umm, well, I just met her yesterday after making sure she didn’t become a pancake. She, uh, seems tough, but I like her! As I friend I mea! Yeah, we’re friends, I guess,” he babbled, sweat dropping. Great Faia, he thought silently to himself, now you sound like an idiot and the scary master is gonna think you’re trying to put moves on his student!

Fujita smirked and nodded, placing his fingers on his chin like he was thinking. "I see, Faia,” he said, “and from the way you seem so sure of yourself, there are no hidden motives here. Tae is like a daughter to me, you realize, and I don't want anything to happen to her. So, how long have you been living here? How old are you? Give me the usual details."

Faia suppressed the urge to start sweating profusely. Why did he feel like he was asking some girl’s father for permission to date her?

“Uh, I’ve been here about two years, I’m nineteen years old… umm, I have a wide variety of… friends. I don’t smoke, rarely drink, sake doesn’t really agree with me and I’m not too fond of the taste. I’m currently looking for a job so I can stop mooching off of Tomo and Kaori… umm, is this the kind of stuff you’re looking for? Sir, you should know I wouldn’t endanger Tae. I ALWAYS protect my friends and those who are important to me!”

Master stood up and placed a hand on Faia's shoulder. "That’s very good to know. You have honor and that is what is most important," he smirked, "Ah, Tae is coming back. Good, she can take care of the bill," he finished, and with a swirl of his cape, he left the building.

As Tiffanie sat on the steps of the orphanage, she thought silently to herself. So many years of waiting, and now she was finally set free. What was she going to do now? Slowly, she stood and began to walk towards the home that her parents had left to her when they died. She remembered it well. It was a large house, with many large windows. It was probably old and dusty, unless someone was sent to clean it while she was gone for the past eight years.

Sadness washed over her as she continued to walk. Her eyes slowly averted to the ground as she sighed. On her way home, she realized that she was lost. A glance to the paper with her new address on it told her she was going in the wrong direction this entire time!

Shaking her head, she turned around and tried again. She didn’t pay much attention as she walked and ended up tripping over her own feet. “WHUA!” she yelped as she fell. She landed hard on her knees, her skirt flying up. “EEK!” she yelped again as she forced herself to sit up and push her skirt back down.

“Stupid, stupid me,” she muttered as people pushed past her. “Ow… My knees…”

She slowly rose to her feet, pain shooting through her legs. With yet another yelp, she fell back down and crawled out of people’s way, hoping they wouldn’t step on her as she sat against a fence.

She looked down at her knees. They were already turning a purplish blue. Reaching forward, she touched the darkened skin and winced then sighed. “I’ll never get home now,” she thought. She tried to stand, using the fence to support her weight, groaning inwardly.

Gah! This hurts! She thought as her knees filled with shocking pain. How hard did I hit them? She tried to keep walking. She almost tripped again, but her and caught the fence once more. After pausing, she slowly let go, trying to walk on her own. She just barely managed, though soon she began to walk normally again, the pain shrank to a dull sting.

She pushed past some people standing on the side and continued towards the place she thought her home was. Finally it seemed as if she'd get home, until someone who seemed to be in a hurry hurtled past her. She as pushed to the side.

“Woah!” she yelled in surprise as she fell forward into another person. The person pushed her backwards out of startled reflex. Closing her eyes tightly, she grabbed onto the closest person for support.

A man she would later know as Tomo.

Tomo studied the frigid cement beneath his feet as he walked, his face torn up in a frustrated expression. He didn’t know what to do about this strange feeling he was getting, since he didn’t even know anything about it. Was someone trying to contact him? He looked up. That had to be it.

Tomo felt a warm touch on his arm followed by the question, “Are you sure you’re okay?”

He looked down at Tae. “Tae,” he frowned, “Shouldn’t you be enjoying your breakfast with the others?” he felt guilty that she had abandoned her Master to check on him. “I’m fine, really.”

Tae sighed. “Listen, I may not have known you for that long but I can tell when something is troubling someone. Call it an instinct, but I do want to know what is bothering you. Will you talk? And don’t worry about Master, he always interrogates my new friends, so it’s better we don’t watch.”

“It’s really nothing, Tae. Just something that was hanging off in the back of my head… like a headache. But it’s gone now,” he said, pausing as a group of kids ran out in front of them from a comic shop. “It’s kind of cute that you were worried about me,” he added with a smirk. However, as soon as the words left his mouth, he felt a tug on his shirt and looked down to see a girl with long dark hair. “Hm?”

Tae resisted the urge to kick him for that comment but instead turned sharply away. “Fine, I don’t have to be here,” she began, but turned back when she heard him say something else… and saw a girl hanging onto him. “Oh, excuse me, Tomo. I didn’t realize this is why you came outside,” she said, raising an eyebrow. She turned away again. “I better get back to Master now.”

Wincing, Tiffanie slowly opened her eyes and looked at Tomo with an apologetic expression. “I’m very sorry,” she said quietly as she struggled to stand. She slipped and fell on her knees once again, sending stabs of pain shooting through her legs. “Lost… balance,” she muttered as she clenched her teeth. “Lost…” she whispered again, holding the address in her hand.

“Hey… Tae!” Tomo called. “It’s not what you think!” But it was too late, Tae was gone. He felt the girl that had grabbed on to him fall and looked down at her with wide eyes.

She looked hurt and almost near tears. He looked back at Tae’s retreating back. With a sigh, he put a hand to his forehead. “Oh boy, she really got the wrong impression, I’m going to have to make this up to her somehow,” he mumbled before looking worriedly back to the girl.

“Hey, are you alright? You look like you’re lost,” he said, crouching down next to her. “Here, take my arm. You’re balance seems a little off, eh?” He smiled, the guild of Tae being angry with him still painful.

Behind him, he heard a sneeze and then Clive’s voice saying, “You okay? We should get you home soon!”

Tomo looked back at Clive and Pria with a grateful expression. “Hey guys!” he exclaimed, hoping they could see he needed a little help. If this girl was lost, there wasn’t much he could do for her. Especially since he barely knew anything about this city, much less where anything was.

Tiffanie took the offered arm, wincing at the pain that had returned in her knees. She opened to show Tomo the paper with her address on it and murmured, “Lost.” She felt a little comforted by his smile but wasn’t quite sure what to think. She wasn’t sure where she was anymore! She quickly looked at the ground, feeling embarrassed.

Clive looked at Tomo for a moment, not exactly knowing his intentions, but he certainly didn’t want to help Tomo. “Hello, Tomo,” he said stiffly as he looked down at the girl who seemed distressed. “You jerk! You make her cry?” He asked abruptly.

Pria sniffled. “It was just a sneeze,” she muttered softly, in reply to Clive’s earlier concern. She looked up at him. “She said she’s lost. He didn’t make her cry,” she said before saying to the girl, “We could get you some kakigori, then help you find are going.”

“Cry? Of course not, Clive,” Tomo said with a heavy sigh. He really was in a big mess. He looked at the address on the piece of paper, having no idea where it was. “Um, could you tell me where this address is, Clive? I have no idea…” He trailed off, knowing the other knight probably didn’t like him.

Clive looked at the address. “Uh, isn’t it down that way?” he asked as he pointed to his left. “I coulda sworn I passed that address just the other day… but… no. Sorry, Tomo, I couldn’t tell you if you paid me.” He turned to Pria. “We really do need to get you home though, you are still soaked!” he said out of concern, and for the first time realizing he still didn’t know the Pretear’s name.

Pria shook her head at Clive, still shivering. “We can get her where she,” she sneezed, “Sorry… Where she’s going first,” she finished firmly.

“I can find it,” Tiffanie muttered, her voice sweet but with a tinge of bitterness. She hadn’t realized what a burden she was. She tried to walk around the boys and almost fell again. Pausing to regain her composure, she waved her hand behind her then continued to push herself only to find she was dizzy. She shook her head slightly as she looked ahead of her, feeling a bit insecure about the whole situation.

Tomo didn’t hear Pria, simply saw that Tiffanie was trying to leave on her own. “Hey, woah, wait a minute there,” he said quickly, “You said yourself you were lost, so you shouldn’t try to find that place yourself. Especially since you look like you banged up your knees.” He gave her a warm smile. “Now, let me help you. I’m sure together we’ll find it. Two heads are better than one, eh?”

Tiffanie tilted her head slightly, glancing at her knees. Slowly, she turned to look at Tomo. The look in her eye was determined as she thought for a moment. “Yes, thank you,” she said finally, her eyes reflecting the sincere tone in her voice as she stood still. “Sorry for the… trouble.”

Tomo smiled. “Not a problem. Now, let’s get you home before those bruises swell up,” he said.

Before Tiffanie could reply, a new voice said behind them, “Hey guys, umm, did we pick up a stray?”

Tae came into the café, panting from running. She looked at Faia with a raised brow. “Are you okay? You seem kinda shaken,” she said with a smile. “Master interrogated you, didn’t he?”

Faia blinked, looking at Tae. “Uh, yeah, he is a scary man. But I think I like him… he gives off that overprotective dad vibe, like he was making sure I was good enough to date you or something,” he grinned and shrugged, “Oh, and he left you the bill, but I can pay for my part!”

Tae shrugged. “Don’t worry about it,” she said, already placing the money on the table. “It’s pretty cheap here. And yeah, he can be a real… annoyance sometimes, but he is fun when he wants to be. Wants to be being the key words.” She held the door open for Faia. “And he does that to everyone, even girls. Soon he will corner Tomo and interrogate him. I want to be there for that one,” she said with a grin.

Faia laughed, agreeing that he would also like to see Tomo’s interrogation. After saying their goodbyes he headed off in a random direction and came across Tomo, Clive, Pria… and some girl he didn’t know. “Hey guys, umm, did we pick up a stray?” he asked. With a smile at Tiffanie, he added, “Hi, I’m Faia. Who are you?”

Tomo looked over to Faia and smirked. "Hey, long time no see."

The girl looked between Tomo and Faia, then looked back to the red haired boy and answered, “T… Tiffanie Hanasaki.”

“We can take her,” Pria said with a sneeze, meaning that she and Clive could take Tiffanie home. To Clive, she said, “You made me fall, you have to walk. In fact, she looks hurt, you like carrying people so much, Mr. Knight, carry her.”

Shaking his head, Clive said, “I did not make you fall! You are the one who jumped so high!” He stepped to the lost girl. “Pardon me, miss, allow me to assist you,” he said quietly as he picked her up in his arms. “Okay, then where to?”

“I didn’t jump, I spun, now let’s go,” Pria snapped, taking the address as she pushed them off. She knew she had to apologize to Tomo later, but she did NOT want to be Faia, not now and the sooner they were separated the better. So, leaving the Leafe Knights of Fire and Wind behind, the trio made their way.

Tiffanie had lain stiff and shocked in Clive’s arms until she realized that the man was helping her. She couldn’t seem to grasp her voice for long, she could speak a couple words at a time, for now at least. She pointed in the direction that Tomo said her house was, glancing at Pria nervously.

Clive nodded and started off in the direction Pria had indicated. “Okay, this will be interesting. Hanasaki? Hmm, I’ve heard that name before,” he muttered as he continued to walk, looking for the address that was so neatly scribbled on the piece of paper.

Tiffanie almost hoped he remembered. Her father owned a rather famous company, and she had come to Japan in hopes of finding him.

They found her house rather quickly and Clive sat her down, saying, “Okay, well, be safe. Don’t do bad things, and if you need help with anything, don’t hesitate to call,” he turned to Pria, “Now I must get YOU home, Miss Sneezie!”

Tiffanie was a bit confused, but bowed gratefully. “Thankyou,” she said quickly. Taking the key from underneath the mat, she quickly went into her new home.

Clive walked Pria home, saying when they reached her home, “Well, have a nice day. And get dry, or I’ll come back to haunt you,” on this last bit, his voice was menacing, almost threatening. But he leaned away and laughed quietly, adding, “Well get dry! See ya!” And he left.

Pria found herself home alone, dripping wet and wearing the Water knight’s jacket, whatever his name was, and in possession of a rapidly growing head cold. Her sister was still at work, as it was still early morning. It was actually earlier than Pria usually got up. She headed upstairs to the bathroom, departing a shower. But was there a point to getting wetter still?

She was still asking herself that as she eased into a soothing bath ten minutes later. After soaking and sneezing for nearly an hour, she crept from the tub and into her fluffiest robe. She was tempted to spend the rest of the day being indulgently sick and watching bad afternoon TV in her fluffy, comfy robe, then she remembered those males and their tendency to just appear without warning.

She flushed darkly. What if one of them had come in while she was bathing? Dark red, she ran inside and changed as fast as she could, locker room style, constantly staring around to make sure they didn’t appear. Once she was done, she made herself tea, practically the only thing she COULD make, much to her sister’s disgust. She poured in the honey for her sore throat and sat in front of the TV on the sofa, with the Kleenex, trying hard not to look at the bloodstains on her rug.

Obviously those males, like that stain, were here to stay. Well then, she thought as she sneezed loudly, they, meaning her, were going to have to set up some ACHOO ground rules. Such as the fact that no time under any circumstances are the ever for any reason to appear in her room, her sister’s room, or the bathroom… in fact, ACHOO SNIFFLE SNIFFLE, no where in the house without ACHOO permission. That decided, she conveniently forgot she actually had to tell them the rules. She sneezed herself to sleep, surrounded in used tissues, with a nose redder than Rudolph’s.

Kamome came home for work only to find everything in disarray. Disgusted, she started to reorganize everything back to its original place.

“Argh! What the heck is Pria doing to the house?” she muttered, then yelled, “PRIA! Where are you?”

Pria sat up on the sofa, spilling the blanket of tissues that had partially hidden her as she slept. “Ka-chan?” she asked with a loud sneeze.

Kamome shook her head as she asked, “What the heck happened here? You’ve never been this messy before.” She rubbed her chin thoughtfully before looking Pria straight in the eye, “You weren’t alone, were you?”

“I went out,” Pria said. “Fell in the lake… got ACHOO got a cold. Collapsed. Walks are becoming dangerous,” she finished with a mutter.

Kamome rested her hand on Pria’s forehead. “Hmm, no fever. Anyway, what did I tell you? These walks of yours won’t do you any good. But then, it still doesn’t explain the mess.” She grasped her little sister’s shoulder as a thought occurred to her. “You didn’t… well… did you? I mean… wit someone?”

“Huh? Did I… what? Man, either I’m sicker than I thought or you’re making no sense.”

“Were you with a guy?” Kamome asked, deciding to be frank.

“Hmm… oh, yeah. Well a few,” Pria answered, trying to get her head straight and naively misunderstanding. “Let’s see, there was the guy who picked me up after the pond incident. Oh, then I saw two of the guys from last night. They are so weird, you wouldn’t believe me if I told you. There was one more from last night. I hope he’s okay, we looked so bad laying there,” she groaned a bit, “the red head, saw him again today. I need to deck him again. I told that idiot to stay put in my room, he wasn’t ready to move AAAAACHOOOOOOOO!” she doubled over with the sneeze.

“There’s a guy in you room? Oh my goodness!” Kamome exclaimed, grabbing a broom and rushing upstairs.

“Huh? Wha? No, the skirt chaser left. I wouldn’t let him stay there, are you kidding me?” Pria shuddered, “Just having that little… that AAACHHHOOO in my room is enough to give me hives,” she sneezed again, “maybe he’s why I’m sick. That would figure.”

Kamome put down the broom. “Oh, well, anyway, I’ll cook you some soup. You better have something hot, and more rest, but not here. I need to do some major cleanup for the mess you and your boyfriend made.”

“AAAchoo! Soup would be go…. BOYFREIND?! ACHOO ACHOO ACHOO!”

Kamome gave Pria an odd look. “Well, durr. Why the heck would you let him in your room in the first place? But remember what mom told us, you lose it, and you never get it back. So make sure that you’re sure he’s the one.”

“THAT’S NOT WHY THE WERE IN ACCCHOOOO MY ROOM ACHOO! Please tell me you didn’t think me and Faia… oh Goddess ACHOO I think I’m gonna hurl… EWWWW!”

Kamome hurriedly picked up her little sister and rushed her to the bathroom. “Oh my god. How long has this been? Don’t tell me you’re pregnant already!” she exclaimed as she rubbed Pria’s back.

At the thought of being pregnant by FAIA teamed with her being sick, Pria actually did hurl then spun to face her sister. “Cut that out! I’m not… EW!” her breath was as ‘eww” as the concept. Kakigori definitely tasted worst the second time.

Kamome covered her nose, saying, “Mouthwash, now, and I get it.” She sighed with relief. “I’d better keep a closer eye on you from hereon out. You’re a lot worse off than I thought.”

“Ewww… Faia… did you REALLY have to give me that mental image?” Pria asked, shuddering. She sneezed as she accepted and used the mouthwash. “This story you’ve got to hear to believe,” she sneezed a few more times, flushed the toilet, sneezed again, and blew her nose before continuing, “Okay, so apparently there are these seven guys.” Pria paused to see if Kamome was listening.

“SEVEN?” Kamome giggled, “Wow, I didn’t know that guys dig you that much. Come now, my sickly little heartbreaker, off to bed with you. I’ll bring up the soup in a bit. Tell me the rest later.”

“Um, eww. Is your mind ever out of the gutter? Not that,” Pria said as she allowed herself to lead to the sofa and tucked in, but she grabbed her sister’s arm and held on. “Please, let me tell you. Maybe if I tell you I can figure it out myself. PleAAAACHOO! Please?”

“Gutter? You’re the one to talk. And save it, that cold of yours is getting nastier by the minute. Now let go, and sit up, the soup’s ready.” Kamome brought Pria the soup, saying, “Besides, I’m only looking out for my baby sister, ne? You need to rest,” she yawned and stretched, “and so do i. Work was heck. I’m gonna go take a show now. Drink up that soup and catch some Zs.”

“Just listen okay?” Pria began again. “There are these seven guys, Knights like King Author had, but these knights are called the greasy knights… or… something like that. Anyhow, remember yesterday when we went out and I bumped into Gwa… that idiot and you just left me with him? That’s Faia. I call him Gwain, they’re both moronic skirt chasers with an over puffed sense of self. Then I met his friend. They both have magic and they’re all like, “We need you to save the world,” and some such nonsense. It was right out of Disney except that one of the hit on everyone and the other wears a dress. I think they’re a couple, but Gwain plays around a lot. Anyhow, so they kept like… appearing in front of me and everything. Then one of them, skirt boy, he grabbed my hand, then he vanished and I was in the oddest outfit. Then he was back and so were my normal clothes and he said he had been inside, and that’s just freaky and I don’t get it. So anyhow, then this huuuuge spider appeared and started attacking us. And Gwain said that we needed to Pret to fight it. Then he reached for my hand but the dress one, he got it first and vanished gain. He started talking in my ear and telling me weird things, like make pretend have a bow and stuff and well, I used the bow thingy to kill the eye that was on the spider’s leg and it vanished, and all the people and buildings it hurt vanished except for the flowery knights. They were both hurt. The people didn’t vanish I mean, the damage did. Anyhow, so I brought them both here and id didn’t want you to come in and see a mess so I brought them to my room. But then other treey knights appeared and vanished and appeared and vanished till I was ready to cry,” Kamome knew that Prate HATED crying, “Then they all left and I went for a walk, but Gwain was in bad shape still and couldn’t carry his boyfriend. So I brought them back in and gave them the bloody sheet to stand on so they’d stop making blood on the carpet. But he was being so annoying about it! Then they left, don’t remember how, and I took another walk and saw another of the petally knight thingies. And he took me for Kakigori… um… don’t remember much after that,” Kakigori was one of her true weaknesses, and she loved it, but because of cost her sister won’t let her get it often, “Then I thought it was all a dream, but I went for a walk and there were these rooty knights again and one of them was Gwain, so the one who pushed me into the lake and I helped this girl that the one who brought me Kakigori found, then I came home and… I stopped sneeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaachooooooooo! Dang it!”

Kamome listened as Pria spoke, pushing the bowl of sup nearer to her sister and rubbing her chin thoughtfully. When Pria was done, she said, “And here I thought you didn’t have a fever. You’re delirious, darn it!” After getting an ice bag and putting it on her younger sister’s head, Kamome continued, “I buy the perverted guys, but a spider? You’ve thought up taller tales when we were kids, this should be the time when you stop dreaming up monsters that come from under the bed or who knows where and start thinking about reality. I’m going to my room now. I’m soo beat!”

Kamome kissed Pria good night then left to go to her room, collapsing on her bed, tired as heck.

Pria stared after her in utter shock, ice pack falling. “She… doesn’t believe me?” she muttered, sneezing again. She curled up, hugging her knees, and fell asleep feeling very, very alone.

Pria awoke with a shudder and a sneeze. She had not slept well, tossing and turning, fleeing nightmare visions of giant spiders with Faia’s face and a wedding ring. In fact, she woke screaming, but as usual, she was alone. She heaved a sigh and realized that of her two usual choices, watching cartoons wouldn’t do it. She needed to take a walk. That decided, she changed quickly, sneezing all the while. She went outside and locked up. She went to the corner, closed her eyes, and spun in a circle. Opening her eyes, she walked in the random direction her body pointed. She sneezed again, loudly, and kept walking.
