Go try the Spider Valve series. Right now. Don't even reply to me until you've tried them out (and turned them up).

The Spider Valves are actually pretty decent, but I just hated the pre-sets. For the price of them however, I'd rather have a B-52 or Peavey 5150/6505 considering I'd only want the Valve in the first place for high-gain.

I dont like Line 6 at all, I have tried all there models a few times thinking maybe one would sound good to me but as stated earlier they are a jack of all trades and a master of none. They just sound so fake when I play through them, but generally I don't like most amps with presets etc. But some people love them so if they get you the sound you want go for it.

slaytalera
alot of people like them for 2 reasons
1)they are versatile(jack of all trades, master of none)
2)they have never played through anything better, most people i know that own them have those as there first and second amp(second being a higher wattage for band and shows) so they dont know what undigital sounds like
This is true a Line 6 Spider III is my second(Still my main amp) But I do play alot of my friends marshalls. Still the reason of versatility is why I still use it

I'm in a band with a guy who uses Line 6, probably for the versatility.

I had a friend who is in a somewhat more popular band tell me while helping us set up equipment that "Line 6 is to amps (or music, I don't recall) what sex dolls are to sex." Personally I wouldn't know, I haven't been playing for long enough to really be able to know the difference between a digital and tube amp.

I have my crappy little fifteen watt Spider III running a loop through my Hartke head mated to my Fender Cab. I use it for when I want that super high gain distortion from the "Insane" channel for that over the top punk growl and pinch harmonics. Now I know what you're thinking, "Well no wonder, you must really suck or something." Well, no. Not really. I just don't have the money to spend on a half dozen pedals that will give me the "real" sound when this works just the same, and sounds as good as my friends Marshall stack with a half dozen miscellaneous pedals.

I've played a few line 6's in my past and own a line 6 duoverb. but they sound too fake imo. Id buy a fender or peavey over them any day.

Eh, i dont know why you'd mess with thosee, when you can, for the same ammount of money buy a nice used Mesa Boogie combo, like a DC5 or save up another 200$ or so and buy a used Rectifier or Mark series amp. Hell, even a 5150 or something. you can get those used for way cheaper than a spider valve, and have, in my opinion, a much more sturdy, toneful amp.
