{HOW EVERYTHING STARTED}

...At the Sugar Fairies Shop...

The chime of the frontdoor ringed. Ding, Ding, Ding. Ebony was behind the counter, arranging some items in the glassy showcase. She picked herself up to greet the newcomer.

"Hello! Welcome to the Su..." She breaked off. There had been a slight change in the air... She knew that feeling. It meant trouble ahead.

The dark skinned girl said nothing and kept looking at the man in his immaculated labcoat, his eyes hidden by large shades. He certainly didn't look like a customer. He was standing on the threshold and finally decided to cross it and came close to the counter.

"Miss Ebony? I have a letter for you..."

He handed out a grey envelop. Ebony stayed still for a few seconds and then took it abruptly. She unsealed it and pulled out a few sheets of paper. One of them was a letter addressed to her. It had a logo, a green D and fours strokes, each pointing to a cardinal point.

She quickly skimmed through the letter and carefully examined the other documents. They seemed to be in order. Damnit.

"What do you want?", she asked curtly. "Money? I'll pay... if what you want is reasonable." She toughed she'd play along until she knew what was really going on. The letter was pretty vague. D-Corp? Didn't ring a bell. But she had examined the map joint to the letter, it didn't seemed too far from Aekea.

The man smiled brightly. "We don't need money... but a little service from you. Please drop by." Ding, ding, ding. Next second he was gone.

What the... Ebony's green eyes turned red for a few seconds, but she managed to put herself together again. Not here. Not now.

First she needed to check the documents. She had been too careless. Never worried obtaining a title deed for her shop. It wasn't technically on Gaia but in a dimension that was a crossroad between worlds. She had taken advantage of a dimensional gap to create a portal on Gaia though. And she needed the piece of land where the portal was located. Not only it would have been a serious hindrance to her business, but there was an even more serious reason, therefore she didn't like the thought of losing control of that spot at all. She doubted those D-corp people worked with her sworn enemies but couldn't the latter take advantage of it? Ebony was going to see if it wasn't possible to came to an amicable agreement in case the title deed wasn't forged. The D-Corp had probably heard about her mercenary status and wanted her to do some kind of dirty job in echange of it. Tss.

She placed a notice on the counter and mentally called her fairies to tell her to take care of the shop as she needed to go out for a moment. She walked to the door and slammed it behind her, stiring the chime that let out a cascade of silvery tinklings...

{FIRST MEETING}

...The next day, at D-corp company...

Those documents were legal after all. Nothing much she could do about them. Her Gaia life was quiet and she wanted it to stay that way, and killing the whole organisation seemed a bit extreme and not very doable in any case. There were too many people in the organisation, moreover it wasn't like every single of them was involved with her case. She didn't mind being hired by rotten people to kill other rotten people but otherwise she didn't like using wanton violence. But she'll hold a grudge against D-corp, they could be sure of this. Heck, she sure didn't like being under somebody's thumb.

And were they nuts or something? They wanted her to take a child. A child! Someone like her? Well she was already the caretaker of a few creatures, but those were able to take care of themselves if needed. She believed a child needed something else than such an heteroclite 'family'. There were rows of hopeful people looking to adopt a child, so why of all the people of the world, why did it had to be her? And mother? The mere mention of this word freaked her out.

"I'm afraid I wasn't born mother." Ebony had first silently listened to the D-tech explaining to and fro what was this 'small service' about. The mention of the dragons had awakened her interest. A dragon wasn't much trouble, but she didn't want to take in the child. She didn't need that kind of responsabilities. And though she had proposed to gave them a quite substantial amount of gold to buy the piece of land, those jerks refused. She even had patiently tried explaining why she wasn't suited to take care of a child but they kept turning a deaf ear.

The D-tech had his colgate smile again. "I'm sure you'll do fine". Ebony grinned. Give me a break already. But she reluctantly followed him to the room where the child was kept. Before reaching the door, she told the D-tech: "Well don't expect much from me. If she goes to the dogs, it will be your fault."

A cute little larvea girl was sitting on a stool, playing with her fingers. She stood up and said "Mommy!" The bee child had waited for this moment eagerly. The D-techs had explained to her someone was coming for her. Ebony walked to her and crouched, looking straight into the child's eyes. "Hey, listen little one. My name is Ebony. And I'm not your mommy."

The little girl's lips started to tremble, she was on the verge of tears. What did this meant? No one wanted her after all!

Great, the child was going to cry. Ebony sighted and added: "But you're not fully human and so am I, so you can think of me as your big sister if you want. Does she have a name?" The question was directed to the D-tech, even though Ebony didn't turn her head. The man answered in the negative.

"Allright, let's find you a name then..." She started to examine the kid more with more attention but suddenly a sharp pain went through her head. Ow. She put her hand to her temple but did her best to remain still. She was remembering something... but this wasn't the right place for it. "Uh... Melli... f-fée..."

"Mellifée? That's a pretty name!" said the D-tech. He hadn't noticed anything.
"No... I..." She didn't meant that. The pain finally faded away, leaving a feeling as thin as a thread. Ebony shrugged. Whatever, it could be her name if they wanted.

Mellifée contemplated the woman through her moistened eyes. She wasn't her mother but she had said she could called her big sister. And she had gave her a name too. She wasn't sure what all of this meant but it sounded like the woman wasn't completely rejecting her and the little bee girl found the thought a bit relieving.

Ebony lifted the child and placed her on her shoulders. "We're leaving", she announced to the tech. "I'll come back again for the papers once our contract will expire." Both Ebony and Mellifée disappeared.

{HERE BE FAIRIES ANDS DRAGONS}

Ebony was slowly walking on the road back to her shop, holding Mellifée's hand. It didn't took long to get back to there, as she was able to teleport there anytime. Thus she was still wondering what she was going to do with the little bee child. Staring into space, she reviewed her companions. Nan, the android maid was good at taking care of the house and preparing meals but she doubt she would fit as a nanny. However she could take her to classes when needed, which was already helpful. The fairies were a bit trouble, not that they were harmful but they tended to be a little too fond of food and if that quite fit their metabolism, if the child copied them, she'll probaby end up with serious health issues. Tako was reliable but she couldn't ask a seven inches boy to take care of a full size kid, could she? Aqualea, well technically she could ask her to babysit the child, but the water goddess couldn't leave the spring for too long. Geez. That was pretty troublesome, looks like she'll have to postpose some of her businesses to a later date, at least until the child would get use to the place.

Mellifée pulled her out of her thoughts.
"E.. Eb'ny, what are you?" The child felt curious about the woman. She had mentionned she wasn't human either. Maybe that's why she couldn't be a moomy but a big sister. And she had noticed those white horns sticking from her heard.
"Uh? What?"
"If you not human, what are you ?"
"Hmm... I'm a dragon."
Mellifée's eyes widened with surprise. Dragon? She had that word before. People at D-corp spoke of them, and they even told her she was going to have one too, though she didn't really understood what it meant.

Ebony gave it another though. If she just said she was a dragon, it was going to be confusing for the child. She was supposed to get her own dragon after all.

"See.. you know you are not human, like those people in labcoats." Mellifée nodded. "You are half animal... namely half bee. It's a bit complicated to explain, but I'm not really human. I'm another type of creature... except I look mostly human. For convenience." At the girl's look showing a total lack of understanding she understood she didn't knew that last word, so she added : "It's easier to look human when you are surrounded by other humans." She carried on: "But you, you need to stay part bee because you came into this world for a special dragon. It's not the same type as me." Actually it wasn't even the same type as the usual D-corp dragons. The techs had mentionned a unique plant dragon. One that needed to be pollinated... The reason they created Mellifée in the first place.

"Anyway... you will need to take care of this creature. Because it will need you. It's your precious friend". Precious friend. The phrase ringed strangely to Mellifée's ears. The woman almost sound sad for an instant.

Ebony picked one of the flowers that were growing on the road side and showed it to Mellifée.

"Think of this of your dragon, ok? You will need to take care of it. If you don't, this is what is going to happen." The pretty daisy withered all at once before Mellifée's eyes who looked at it awe-struck. Ebony kept walking.

"But don't worry, we'll teach you how to take care of it. This is were I leave." They had reach the shop's entrance. Ebony felt relieved. She hadn't been good with the child, but at least she knew the fairies would give her a warmer welcome. She was in foul temper but it didn't meant she had to be nasty with the child and make her traumatized, it wasn't the little one's fault after all.

Saboko and Ichiko were sitting on the counter.
"Hmph! What's that thing? A baby?" Saboko rolled her eyes.
"Yes, it's a bee child. Her name's Mellifée."
"Are you trying to fool me? She doesn't look like anything like a bee." She looked Mellifée up and down. "But she looks pretty." Saboko loved cute and pretty things. Ebony thought it was best not to mention yet she was a larvae, as Saboko was sometimes pretty narrow-minded.
"She'll change later", she simply said.
""Bee ? Baby? Ba-bee! Ba-bee hellooo! Me Ichikooo!" Ichiko flew and sat on Mellifée head, between her two pigtails and leant forward to look at her face. Mellifée smiled at the little red-hared fairy."You want sweets?"

Ebony smacked her head with her hand. She'll need a good talk with Ichiko.

{INSOMNIA}

Ebony Dragon
I've been having dreams (or should I say nightmares?) about Omma again. Tired, it's 3am and I'll probably won't be able to sleep for the rest of the night, but if I don't write this I'll probably forget everything before morning comes. A huge and ugly larvae... as far as I can recall she looked like that. And worse than a blackhole. Well don't really care about ugliness, it's just a word that is pretty subjective... but I mean those vibes emanating from her/the dreams, it gives me the creeps just to think about them. Mellifée she What I'm talking about? It's not the child's fault. I guess I am worrying for nothing. The fact that is she is a insect is probably an unfortunate coincidence.

But there was a time I truly thought she was my mother. Talk about being naive. Hate you frigging A... [the rest of the word is a illegible scribble]

I wonder who is Melli? I can't seem to recall anything about him/her. So many names and faces I forgot... At least I'm glad I found Aqualea back. And Nan seems one of them too. The pieces of the jigsaw will fit together again. Now to search for Ethan, and the others.

Please... let them be alive

{ALPHA BETES}

Mellifée sat down and waited. She was using a stool as her larvea tail tended to get in her way with normal chairs.

Ebony looked around and drew a small stool too, then decided against it. She knelt instead before the occasional table. "Allright, hum... it seems that you'll probably have to attend classes a bit earlier than the others. I asked for information, normally D-corps kids get their eggs after they are five or so and they are supposed to know the alphabet and the numbers to receive their egg. Therefore I'd prefer you to start learning how to read and write as soon as possible. You'll be learning letters and numbers with Miss Kat Dragonsbane, but I'll give you some more intensive classes too." Ebony was actually quite relieved, she usually didn't know what to talk about people unless they were leading the conversation, but Mel was pretty calm and quiet which suit her better than a boisterous kid of course but at the same time she didn't know what she could be talking to her. But tutoring was something else, she felt comfortable with it.

Mellifée thought. Reading and writing... for kids to receive their egg...? What did that meant? She couldn't get her 'precious friend' if she couldn't managed to learn how to read and write? Noway! She'll never let anyone else have it. It was her precious friend and it needed her. And she would make sure it would never wither or anything. At first she had been a bit scared of Ebony, but after leaving a few days at the shop she had the opportunity to see there was plenty if plants both in and outside the shop, and there were growing strong and beautifully. Would someone really bad make the effort to maintain such an environment?

"I'll do it!" Sheer determination was plastering her face and she was clenching her tiny fists. Ebony glanced surprisingly at her, what was she so worked up for? She turned her eyes to the worksheets she got from the teacher from the nursery school teacher. She took the first sheet and put it near Mellifée then pointed at the A.

"This is the first letter of the alphabet, A. Err... the alphabet contains all the letter you need to know in order to be able to read. Do you see this thing at the bottom, they've put drawings of animals to help you memorize the letters. This is an alligator, A is the first letter in the word 'alligator'."

Mellifée eyed the animal. The drawings looked pretty funny to her but also very mysterious. And she had no idea what an alligator was.

"What's an allig.. alliga... er.. tor?" She enounced it with some difficulty. Ebony thought about it, how was she suppoded to explain to a kid what an alligator was? "Err... well it's an animal from warm countries, and it swims in the water..." She paused. An illustration book or photos would be better... or she could used that. An illusion.

"Look Mellifée, I'll make an alligator appear". She focused, made a quick gesture with her right hand and the next second there was an alligator in the room, lazily lying on the floor. Mellifée leaned forward to see it better. Wow it was huge, pretty flat but very long. Dark green. But it didn't looked very lively... but right at that moment she had that thought the reptile snapped its mouth. Mel stood up on her stool, hands on her cheeks, shrieking.

Ebony looked at her, half-amused at the scene. "You know, you don't have to be afraid, it's a only an illusion, a animated image, but not real one. I'm not saying she should go and pet an alligator if you ever encounter one, it's best to stay away from their bite but... dragons look a bit like this you know, both species are reptiles."

Mel stopped shrieking and looked pretty crestfallen. Dragons looked like this? With plenty of teeths? She felt mitigated about this, she felt scared but at the same time, dragons were friends. She knew that, and she felt totally confident the one in the egg waiting for her was her best friend. And her big sister told her she was a dragon too. Mellifée calmed down and sat on her chair again.

Ebony dismissed the alligator and opened a box of coloured pencils. "Here you go, color the letter." Mellifée choosed a dark green one to match the alligator's color and scribbled haphazardly on the A.

"No, not like this, I don't think you will learn forming the letters if you do this. Look!" She took a pencil and slowly wrote down an A. "1... 2... 3..., see! And make sure you don't go over the lines." The little bee girl hatched the A this time following the direction of the strokes, her hand wasn't very steady at the beggining, but she got used to it quickly. She then colored the alligator using the same method, but by tracing horizontal strokes and finally said: "A".

"That's good! Allright... next letter, this is B".
"Biii?" questionned Mellifée.
"Yes, it sounds like the animal bee, isn't it?"
Mellifée nodded, she felt suddenly interested with this letter. "So you write bee with this letter?"
"Yeah, it's the first letter in bee." Ebony took the second worksheet, and pointed to the E. "This is E. You also need two of these. There's two type of letters. Letters like A and E are vowels while B a consonant. You can say vovels on their own but you need to associate consonants with vowels to be able to pronounce them. Like 'bb' becomes 'B'. Ok? But we'll see E later."
Mellifée nodded again and asked: "What's the thing with the letter?"
"It's a dragon."
"Ohh.." Not only the letter B sounded like bee but it was also ornated with a dragon. Mellifée decided B was a very likeable letter. "You write dragon with B too?"
"Err.. no. I think it's standing for brass. Brass is a metal." She made a medal appear this time and gave it to the little girl. "There are dragons called brass dragons because their scales have the same colour than brass."
Mellifée played with the medal. It was shiny, hard and a bit heavy. And looked attentively at the picture. She noted it had a long tail like the alligator, but also other protuberances on its head and back. She gave it a thought, what could one have on their heads and backs? She had two small white bulges on her head and had been told they were going to be her antennaes. And the things on the dragon's back was surely wings, they were probably have to fly like the fairies. "Is my dragon going to look like the picture? With antennaes and wings too?"
"What?... Oh I see." Ebony was surprised, but pleased to see such an observant kid. "These are not antennaes on its head..." She tapped on her horns. "... but horns. You're right for the wings though." Oh so these were horns. It made sense to Mellifée. Big sister was a dragon too, but she said she was looking human for convenience. But she had retained her horns. Lab techs didn't have them.

"So it will have horns and wings?"
"I don't know... not all dragons have horns and wings you know". Ebony prefered not to speculate on the dragon's futur look. "I'd say there would be chances if you had received a regular egg, but yours happened to be special."

Yes, thought Mellifée. It was a special egg, it was specially for her. Her knowledge about creation was still well hazy, but she had been told she was specially created for this dragon.

She put down the brass medal and took a brown pencil. It was the closest colour. She traced vertically the first stroke and hatched the left part of the letter, but it got complicated after that.

"Try like this." Ebony traced a B. "One stroke and two loops. Doesn't it look like it as someone with a big belly? Both 'big' and 'belly' start with B by the way". Mellifée giggled. B, big belly letter. It sounded funny. She tried again then colored the dragon.

"Allright, let's pass to the next letter, it's another consonant."

Mellifée contemplated it a moment. A... B... this one was a consonnant too. The animal on the worksheet she couldn't recognise but the shape of the letter was definitely familiar, she knew she had seen it somewhere. "It's 'mee'!" she exclaimed.

"Uh? What you mean it's you?" asked Ebony, taken aback. She had understood about the antennaes, but this time she couldn't figure out what the bee girl meant.
"It's like the moon in my picture books! The moon starts with 'mm'!" Mellifée's eyes were sparkling and she was grinning.
Ebony laughed. "Yeah, right. You're pretty clever you know. That was close. It looks like the moon, but the letter is C, 'cee' like in 'crescent'. She patted the little girl on her head and wrote down a C to show her the direction of the curve.

Mellifée was happy. Her deduction was wrong but her big sister didn't seem to care and seemed pleased at her attempt. Ebony never really touched her unless it was necessary and this was the first time she ever saw something like a sign of affection. She picked a light yellow pencil but stopped. She had forgot about the animal. Maybe it wasn't the same color as the moon?

"What's the animal with C?" she asked.
"Ah it's a dromedary, but you can also call them camels. And the word camel starts with C." She used her illusion skill again and made both animals appear. "There are two types of camels, some have two humps on their back and dromedaries have only one hump. They live in deserts and there's not much to eat or drink in deserts. Those humps allows them to live there without water or food for some time, they're using them to store energy."
Camels were stranges creatures thought Mellifée, all lanky, battered and they kept moving their mouth. They didn't look scary like the alligator but definitely strange.

"Why are they moving their mouth?"
"Camels gulp down their food directly and then... they spit it back up to chew it. Chew start with C too", she added before sending the creatures back to nothingness. They were cluttering the room. The bee girl thought camels were even stranger than she first though. But being able to stay without eating was quite great, she knew she'd definitely couldn't do that.

Mellifée curled her mouth into a pout and decided to take the same pencil she used to color the previous letter. She wanted to used another colour though but that was pretty much the closest color to camels too.

Ebony asked her why she was hesitating. To Mellifée's reply she said: "You can always mix colors if you want. For instance, you can add yellow to the brown you used for the B. And you can also make the colours vary by pressing more or less on the lead."

Mellifée tested those methods and felt pretty amazed by the results. By mixing the colours it was possible to create differents hues. That was pretty facinating. She wondered what happened if she tried that with other colours, but decided to patient until the end of the lesson.

"A... B... C!"
"Good! But before carring on with the rest of the alphabet we'll see the numbers, ok?" Mellifée nodded enthusiastically. Ebony slightly smiled and put the paper away.

{ALPHA BETES 2}

The rest of the lesson was actually consecrated to learning numbers and addition, with the help of seeds. Ebony had decided to put the worksheet aside and give it to Mellifée as revision later once she would be done coloring all the alphabet.

User Image

The DEF series had been fun. Ebony had shown her a cracking egg, from which a dragon had hatched and started to flap it wings and belch fire. Mellifée had asked Ebony why she was a dragon because she didn't understand the link between the creature and the young woman and found out that she was able to shapeshift. Mellifée had colored the dragon green and the egg purple like on the illusion summoned by Ebony. And she had learned to make a gradation with the picture of fire.

User Image

Gold was shiny and she was given a gel pen with glittery golden ink. The G was a bit hard to write, compared to the H and the I which could be written with straight strokes. She watched the hawk soaring toward the sky through the opened window. Igloo was made of ice and ice was cold.

User Image

This time she used markers. Their tip were larger than the coloured pencils and less precise but it was easier to trace the letters in one go. Mellifée had also decided to try writing the names even though she didn't know all the letters yet. She simply copied what she saw. But she learned that they were two types of letters, capital letters that were the ones you learned thanks to the sheet and smalls letters. She knew A and E but they looked different when you wrote them the other way. She had eaten strawberry jelly, watched the kangaroo bounce in the room. What was love? Ebony had just said it's when you liked something very much and quickly waved away the subject saying it's something you can see so she couldn't make an illusion of it.

User Image

She could watch the moon during night time. Its shape kept changing. The eggs in the nest had hatch into bab birds. The octopus was strange and didn't looked at all like Tako, the resident octopus boy. She had prefered to color it like the little wieners Ebony shown her has well. But Tako was from octopus and magical rice. It was strange, she had learned that people are born from parents but all of the human looking people in her environment weren't born from parents...

User Image

Penguins were funny birds, they didn't have wings and swam instead of flying. Quals were normal though, but they layed speckled little eggs. For the picture of the road, Mellifée had been inspired and decided to ad libe some, adding a sun, a tree and flowers to it.

User Image

The snake was pretty ok, but she didn't like the shark. Dragons were nice but anything else with lot of teeths, alligators, sharks, she decided they were unpleasant. Turtles were nice too, she had already saw some around the house. There was one swimming in the well too. It ate all the alguae and kept it clean. She had a small lesson about punctuation too, because of the exclamation mark on the up picture. There were dots, commas, questions marks and some other signs too.

User Image

Vixens were females foxes. Water she knew what it was, you drinked it to slake thirst and give to plants to grow them and keep them alive. Labtechs were those people from the place she was before.

User Image

And finally the last letters. Yaks were hairy and zebras were like horses but only black and white. She left the letter untouched as she didn't know what she could add to it. But added below the word zebra with the help of Ebony who spelled it to her.

{NUMBERS}

At this point, after the few weeks where she gradually learned the alphabet, if she couldn't read yet, Mellifée knew all the letters. She had been revising them a lot, sometimes with the help of Tako who always volunteered to tutor her when Ebony was busy. Sometimes some of the fairies joined, especially Palissandra and they were learning together. It may be odd for a 3 year-old to be so studious, but it was probably due to the odd environment. Things and people grew fast, but then past a certain point they seemed to age very slowly.

Mellifée was eager to learn to read. She often examined her picture books. The pictures help greatly to follow the stories but she wanted to learn the words too. She felt somehow attracted to them.

Numbers were fun too. She learn how to add them and some substractions basics. If you add three apples and then eat one, you had only 2 apples left.

{TO GARDEN}

A year had passed already... Mellifée had well integrated to her environment. While it certainly cannot be considered as 'normal', for the little bee girl who didn't know much anything else, it was about normal.

During that time she learned to become more independant too. Moving still gave her some difficulties, but her body had toned up and she could walk like most children now. As she couldn't go as fast as the fairies tought, her favorite means of transport was still her scooter and she like to take it when she took strolls in the gardens. The scooter was mostly made of wood, but it was sturdy and run well. Curiously it had a toy duck which served as a honker. Mellifée would squeeze it every while and then just for the mere fun of it.

That is what she was doing today. The fairies always helped looking after the gardens - except for Saboko who thought she was way above that and contended herself in ordering the others - and Mellifée had taken a liking in gardening too. She was now going to see how the flowers she had planted the other days were doing, taking along with her a watering can and a shovel. She sang while riding her scooter.

User ImageOne, two, three
The garden is growing
Four, five, six
Now it needs hoeing
Seven, eight, nine
Down go the weeds
Ten, eleven, twelve
Water it needs
Thirteen, fourteen,
Here comes a shower
Fifteen, sixteen
A carrot and a flower!

After reaching her destination she took off the scooter and when to water the young sprouts. To her surprise there was a plant that was already blooming. She thought it was strange because she planted seeds that gave red and yellow flowers and those were pink. There were also two whirly part that were on each side of the plants, and they seemed somewhat alive. Intrigued, Mellifée gave one of them a careful poke. It moved. She poked it again, it moved again. This time she tried the other part and heard a fait protesting moaning. And suddently a small green creature jumped out of earth. The plant was actually attached to its head. It started crying.

User ImageMellifée started to panic, she had meant no harm. She tried to calm it down, but nothing seem to work. The pudd was wailing louder and louder, so louder it started to hurt her eardrums and out of desperation she poured all the water she had with her on it. The creature stopped crying but she feared it would started again since she soaked it. However it seemed rather content and chirped before running away. A really strange little fella. Mellifée looked at her empty can, there was none left for her flowers so she went to fetch more water.

{FINGER PAINTING FUN?}

Playdate with Noel

Agent Sinistra
Noel sat on a short stool that was seated in front of a paper covered table. She carefully eyed the Styrofoam bowls that were filled with finger pain that had been placed in the middle. So far, it looked as though she was in the perfect spot to grab the bright blue paint, which suited her just fine.

All that she needed now was a piece of paper, and those wouldn't be handed out until the other children had came in. Noel sat alone for the time being, as Agent had to drop her off early and wouldn't have dared to bring the penguin child along.

Since the time she'd been dropped off, the kindly art teacher/adult supervisor had tried to engage in some form of conversation, only to have Noel decide to ignore him and start to sing some odd wordless song while wiggling about on the stool.

She really hoped that more kids would come soon.

Ebony Dragon
The door opened as two new people entered, a young woman with purple hair and a little larvae girl. The woman talked briefly with the teacher and left after saying a few words to the child. As Mellifée's guardian tends to be busy during day time, it was her friend and worker Nan that was in charge of taking Mel to school and suchlike.

Mellifee noticed there was already a child in the room. It was her first time seing another D-Corp child so she actually so felt a bit shy but immensely curious at the same time. Curiosity prevailed in the end and she approched the table.

"Hello. You sing a nice music. My name is Mellifée."

Agent Sinistra
Noel blinked in surprise at being addressed. She'd been so caught up in entertaining herself that she didn't realize that people had entered the room.

"Hiii! Thank you. I'm Noel!" Noel fidgetted with glee. "I wanna art. Artting is fun~!" She grinned as she eyed the fingerpaints. She badly wanted to get a large glob of the paint onto her hands and draw squiggles all over the table, and maybe even on the new girl.

After realizing that this might be something interesting to do, Noel brought it up.

"Melliiiifee! Can I art on you?"

Ebony Dragon
The question startled the little bee girl at first. So far she only painted on paper and sure she had already used markers on her fingers to play puppets... Actually she could think of other cases where one would do body painting or something similar.

Anyway that sounded like a neat idea, and the other girl was right, artting was alway fun and she couldn't see any harm in being painted on.

She looked at the bowls filled with pretty colors and then grinned at Noel: "Sure!" And asked: "Is it ok if I paint on you too?" She was interested in giving a try too.

Agent Sinistra
Noel clapped her hands delightedly. "Yes! You can art on me, too!" The idea of being covered in paint was just as thrilling as covering someone else in paint.

"What color?" She asked, referring to the paint that was on the table. Not that it mattered too much, as she already had a nice glob of blue paint in her left hand and was attempting to paint a random squiggle on the bee girl's arm.

"You're hard...?" Noel was a bit surprised by the fact that Mellifee's skin was rather different than her own fluff. "Why?" She asked out of curiosity as she lightly poked the other girl.

Ebony Dragon
Mellifée giggled as she saw the painting on her, she could pretend she got tattooed. "Oooh that's nice!" With her free arm, she drew a bowl filled with bright red to paint on Noel's cheeks. "I'll make you warrior markings!"

She explained as she dipped her finger in the liquid and traced some wobbly lines. "It's my shell. I don't like it much, sometimes it itches. But my big sis said it was going to fall when I'll grow and I'll look all different. So I hope it will fall soon because it also meant I'm going to get my dragon friend and I want to see it very much.

I'm half bee. What kind of animal girl are you?" Mellifée looked attentively at Noel and smiled. She reminded her of a bird, but she wasn't sure what species the other girl could be.

Agent Sinistra
Noel grinned in response before happily proclaiming. "I'm a penguin!" She waited until Mellifée had done a few lines on her before dipping her hand into green paint.

"What's a dragon friend? Don't they eat people and stuff?" She asked looking a bit confused all the while drawing a bunch of stripes on Mellifée's free arm. "I don't think people eating is a nice thing to do..."

Ebony Dragon
Oh penguin? That explained why she was so fluffy, it was rather agreeable to paint on her.

Mellifée was quite surprise: "Didn't you know? We get dragon eggs and go to classes with them when they hatch?"

Having a dragon shapeshifter for sister, Mellifée knew not all dragons were nice unfortunately. Some were good, some were extremely evil, but mostly dragons were neutral creatures with both good and bad sides. The fact that among them they were man eaters didn't particularily shocked her, she didn't though it was nice of them but humans ate meat too after all. But all of this was pretty complicated to explain and she didn't want the other little girl to have a bad opinion of dragons. "Err... I think there are good and bad dragons but I don't think we get people eating ones. I'm sure you will get a very nice one! It will be your friend and play with you and help you when you are in need, that kind of things."

Agent Sinistra
"Really?" Noel looked at her suspiciously for a moment and then, as if she hadn't had any doubt at all, she grinned widely. "Cool! Do bees only get bee dragons? Because if bee dragons are like bees, then they'd be like you! And you're okay, so a Bee dragon would be a good dragon to have!" It was easy to tell that Noel was quickly becoming excited. She had begun to flail her arms with reckless abandon as she grinned.

"Although... A Penguin Dragon would be okay to have too. Because then she'd be like me, and I like me!"

To end her exclamation, she dipped a finger into yellow paint and then lightly made a dot on Mellifée's forehead.

"There!" Noel sounded rather pleased.

Ebony Dragon
Mellifée giggled at the mention of Noel liking herself. She liked Noel too, the penguin girl was very funny and so natural. "Thanks, I have a jewel on my forehead now!" Too bad she couldn't see it, she'd need a mirror. She picked up some blue paint to draw a flower on Noel's shoulder. "It be great if you could have a penguin dragon! It would definitely be a champion at sliding too!"

She tried to imagine what a bee dragon could look like... Maybe a pretty dragon tiny like a humming bird that would gather nectar from flower? That would be nice but she was getting a plant dragon, which was nice too.

"I'm not completely sure, but I don't think we get dragons that are animals like us. Mine is going to be a plant dragon and the other dragon egg I saw when I went to visit it was the one of a blue dragon."

{IN THE MAZE}

Playdate with Alora

Ebony Dragon
The day at the amusement park had been fun... until now. Mellifee had lost track of her guardian in the Magical Mirror Maze. It looked like she had been deceived and was following one of her reflections. It probably happened when she had stopped to make faces before a mirror that dilated her whole head, keeping her body at a normal size.

She looked around. Siamese Mellifees, thin and elongated Mellifees, distorted and fat Mellifees, inverted Mellifees... Nothing but herself, reflected by the numerous mirrors. Her sister had vanished and there were no one else either.

Squeezing the plushie she had won at one of the games stands and her pack of candies - good thing, she knew she'd be able to survive for a while at least - she started to wandered about. Maybe if she stumbled across people she could follow them until the exit.

melodymh4
The Magical Mirror Maze. The name itself seemed intriguing to the dove, but it held much wonder inside. Stepping into the place, she had found countless mirrors. She wondered how mirrors, usually made of glass and it's back silvered, could manage to change the shape of one's reflection in many different ways. Keeping a mental note to try to find out later when she reached home, she headed deeper inside, forgetting all about her brother who was outside waiting for her. One couldn't blame her, she was drawn into fascination. So much until she didn't notice the other girl, and bumped right into her.

Ebony Dragon
The little bee girl didn't hear anyone coming and got so surprised at the unexpected contact she dropped what she was carrying. She was going to pick her possessions up again when she noticed a pale face with red circling the eyes reflected in the mirrors.

She rotated and stared at the comer. "Are... Are you a ghost?" she whispered in a half-frightened tone.

She was confused because her mind was still fresh from the previous attraction she visited, which was the Haunted House. It was actually fun to see all the fake monsters trying to give you the goosebumps. But her sister commented she wasn't to go exploring the maze that was located near her home as there were real spectres there. She didn't recall the mirror maze was supposed to be any haunted but now she was on her own in an unfamiliar place she didn't felt particularily confident.

melodymh4
"Ghost?" Alora repeated, confused. She had never had someone mistaken her for a ghost before. Her wings fluttered rather nervously as she bent down to gather up the other's possessions. Wordlessly, she handed it back to the other girl, while she observed her. Who was she? She did seem different from normal people, like Alora herself was, with perhaps animal DNA too? But what would she be?

Ebony Dragon
Now she had seen her face to face Mellifée could see that it was a girl. Not a human one though, there was an avian quality to her. She had seen a lot of different types of people here at the fair, though those who were half animal were much rarer.

She recovered her items. "Thank you.." she said, feeling a bit silly and squirming her tail in embarrassment. "Err... sorry, hum do you know how to get out of here?"

melodymh4
Alora's tail feathers tingled with nervousness as Mellifee mentioned that...she was lost. She herself had no idea where the exit was.

"I'm not exactly sure." She admitted.

Ebony Dragon
It looked that they were in the same boat. But it was reassuring not to be alone anymore.

"Maybe we could look for the exit together then..?" asked Mellifee. "My name is Mellifee, I'm a bee. Well I'll be one once I'll go past the larvae stage", she added conversationally. It was something she looked forward to. Her shell had harden lately, and sometimes it itched badly, it was really annoying.

melodymh4
They were both lost then. Alora wasn't too worried, because sooner or later, they'd find their way out right? A carnival wouldn't be so mean as to trap people inside and let them wander about, lost in the hall of mirrors? It wasn't as if there was a Minotaur and this was Crete anyway.

"Alright." It was better to stick together. She was a bee larvae? Well, no wonder she seemed to be covered in this hard shell. "I'm Alora, a dove."

Ebony Dragon
Mellifée looked around. Which way should they start with? The corridor they were in seemed to fork into three possible paths. Then her eyes came back to the dove girl.

A dove? She certainly had bird features, though she didn't have beak. The other little bird girl Mellifée had met didn't either. She wondered if Alora could get airborne with her wings, that'd be nice indeed. "Say, are you from D-corp too?"

melodymh4
Let's see, one two three. Which would lead them to the exit, which would lead them to never ending turns and face mirrors wherever they looked? Intriguing...Alora could see why they built it in such a way.

"D-Corp?" She looked back at the bee girl, and gave an involuntary shudder. She didn't like the place, it was so cold and empty. Plus the techs didn't seem to care at all. It was lucky Mom brought her home. Still, she held no grudges against the other D-Corp children, most which she met were nice anyway. "Yes, I was."

Ebony Dragon
Mellifee had left D-corp only a year ago but had little recollection of it, probably due to the fact that she passed the first years of her life in a semi dormant state, eat-sleep cycle. It was the place she used to be, she could felt activity going around, but in a very vague way. There was a slightly sizzling and metallic voice speaking to her, that teached her words. And there had been those people in labcoats when she fully awoke and they said someone was coming for her. That's all she could remember, and she knew she had to go back there for classes soon so she actually felt rather enthousiastic to meet another D-Corper.

She brightened and even forgot about the maze for a moment. "Really!? Do you have a dragon yet?"

melodymh4
Alora hadn't went back there yet, she was somewhat interested too, when Ligeia had said his father could teach her flying. Which she wanted to master, her brother was already effortlessly soaring with his leathery wings. He wanted to teach her, but seeing their wings were different, Alora had politely declined.

A dragon? Yes, Mom had metioned that she would get one soon. She wasn't as interested, her brother was somewhat, since he was part-dragon after all. "Not yet." She admitted.

melodymh4
"Well..." Alora stammered slowly, fidgeting with her skirt. "I know I'm getting a brass dragon. Do...you?" She asked shakily, giving a little shy blush.

"Ohh. Okay." She confirmed with a nod of her blond head and took small steps towards it, glancing back at Mellifee with a questioning glance.

Mellifee trotted after the dove girl as they advanced further in the mirror maze. "Oh a brass dragon! That's great! You went to the egg tour then? I went there too! Mine is going to be a plant dragon. I'm not sure what is it going to be called. Did you decide a name for your brass dragon already?"

Mellifee tucked her plushie under one arm so that it wouldn't slip then rummaged in her bag. She scooped a handful of candies and proffered them to Alora: "Do you want some?".

{BUG'S GIFT}

Mel looked at the flowerbed with satisfaction. Bluebells, marigolds, poppies, there were flowers of all colors there and even a little jujubee sapling she obtained from Ebony. She had dug a canal around the young tree and turned it into a golfish pond. She found a unused plank in the shed where gardening tools were put away, it served as a bridge now. Flowers grew aplenty in the garden behind the shop but this was her own little corner so it felt quite special, she could do as she wished with it.

The little green creature she met some time ago had been often visiting the place. She had named it 'Bug'. She wasn't sure if it was a plant or an animal, but for some reason she felt it might be part insect like her. At first, it came and stayed hidden, spying on her when she was tending the garden. Then after some time, it stopped hiding but still stayed at distance. Now it was following her, bouncing everywhere and chirping in approbation whenever she planted new seeds or watered the place. Mellifée liked him, he was funny and seemed so happy when she was pouring water on him.

Chirp, chirp! Mel turned around, it was Bug, bouncing and babbling excited. It seemed he had brought something with him. Mellifée picked it up and examined it with interest, it looked like a crooked red bean.

"You want me to plant this?" she asked Bug. The pudd cooed. Mellifée took her spade and water can and when to the spot where she had planned to plant a rose bush and started to dig. She could have gone to Ebony and asked about the strange seed, but she thought she would liked the surprise of discovering what could grow out of it...

Mellifée flattened the two sheets of paper on the desk. Not that they were any crumpled but she was just a very meticulous girl.

She picked up a pen and tried to write as neatly as possible. Her writing was still clumsy but considering her age, she was doing pretty well. Name and age, those were easy. After some consideration, she decided to put down green as her favorite color and 'Bug' for the last line. That made her remember about the seed Bug had given her. This morning when she had gone to water it, she had noticed a sprout coming out, which had brighten her day.

The second form was a little more difficult for Mellifée to read, it had sentences. Mellifée loved reading and learned the alphabet quite swiftly, but at this point it still took her time to read group of words. To her delight, the egg was to be colored. She loved coloring and couldn't resist adding a personal touch to enliven the paper. Hopefully no one would mind.

Finally she finished filling it and then rushed back to Ebony. How exciting, the day she was going to see her dragon was getting closer and closer.

To D-Corp:

As per your request, here is an update regarding Mellifee. She has of course grown taller, I will join a photo. Her hair got longer too, it is reaching her waist now. She still likes to attach them into bunches. Her wardrobe is mostly composed of dresses, she does not find pants convenient because of her tail. She is usually seen wearing gardening aprons with floral or animal patterns and pockets.

Overall she is quite a good child, obedient and well-behaved and gets along with her family circle. She likes to be independant and enjoys activies such as reading picture books, drawing and gardening.

Lately however she has been slightly moody and does not sleep well. I have been giving a remedy to ease her sleep, but she is also complaining that the buldges on her head and her skin are badly itching. Her appetite is also slightly abnormal, some days she asks for seconds, others she hardly pecks in the dishes. I suppose all of this means her body is going through significant changes.

I am enclosing the photo and the two forms filled by Mellifee.

Ebony D.
