If I start a series in hardcover, I'll continue it in hardcover, but if I start a series in paperback I don't mind switching half way through to hardcover.

Hardcovers are nice but I actually prefer paperbacks. They're easier to carry around and easier to curl up in bed with. I do not discriminate with my books! rofl

I mainly buy paperback, usually due to lack of money, now if I really like a book or a series I'll try to find it in hardback and sell back the paperback version to a used bookstore

I have a lot of paperback books because they're less expensive and a lot more books are in paperback then in hardcover. Though I like the hardcover more because they don't wear down as much. I lug books all over the place and paperbacks have a tendicy to get really worn down and a few of my covers have actually fallen off. Hardbacks for me are much better but they're always, like $20 and I can never get as many books if I get a hard cover rather then a few paperbacks

I do the exact same thing, to the letter. I buy hardcover when I can and take the paper cover off of it. I swear, if I could I would just buy them old school leather bound with just the title on the front and sides in fancy gold lettering. Ah, that would save me so many headachs.

I actually prefer paperback. Hardcover books are more expensive and I find them harder to hold comfortably when curling up with a book. Paperbacks tend to be smaller, too. Another advantage.
Also, I like that creasing look in the binding of my paperbacks. It makes them look like they've been read (which they have) and just give them a lovely little worn look. I can't really explain it, but I love it.

Actually, I like paperbacks better. You see, when I'm reading a book, I like to take it with me EVERYWHERE, and this is kind of hard to do with a big hard cover.
On the other hand, hard covers usually have very pretty covers. You know that whole 'don't judge a book by it's cover thing'?
Rubbish. If I see a pretty cover, most likely I'll read it. And hard covers usually take a lot more time with the covers, and because they don't crease, they stay nicer for a longer time 3nodding

Paperbacks are cheaper than hardcovers. But, hardcovers make good weapons twisted and an arm work out.
