He wracked his brain for anything to absolve himself. No, no, this was impossible, it couldn't have been him. How could it have been him? He'd never have done anything like that. Never. He was above that kind of... behavior. He was a dragon. A creature to bring envy to anyone who looked at him. And anatomically he was far apart enough from humans that he couldn't even say he was capable of the act with what he had. Not a particularly proud fact, but it spared him a reason to get involved in any lewd activities. And that in itself furthered his nobility and purity of rebirth. Before there had been certain things, nagging things, which gave him an opening to lose faith in the idealized world he'd clung to so desperately when he had nothing else left. His rebellion was short-lived because of how stupid it had been for him to try. It made sense now. The security of his life that he only just recovered was so valuable to him that he would let nothing conflict with the many truths he'd learned to embrace as fact.
And if anything it must have been this teen's fault Amaya had been pregnant. Pegging the blame on someone else?
Wonderful. Problem solved. His wings, which he normally kept folded behind him, were being spread slowly, an unconscious gesture of feeling threatened. He tried to regain his composure, going so far as to give the teen a cold stare back the whole time he laughed. Though he knew damn well what Alec meant, he had to ask anyway. "What are you implying?"

Alec first allowed his laugh to die down naturally, taking Zach's obvious irritation in stride. I reaction like that was expected somewhat, although even as he drew his haughty laugh into a finale the teen wasn't looking directly at Zach. To the side, the sky, the ground. He refused to allow him to clue in on the strong fear that was really welling inside the yonugster at the moment. At first he'd felt as if his barrading was justified in the strongest way possible, but now he was beginning to feel as if he was dancing on death's doorfront. If he started fast, could he outrun the beast with two arms and two wheels?
Even yet, he couldn't deny the guilt splattered across the lizardman's muzzle. He was thinking hard about something, too hard for one who was simply disturbed by a bout of bad news. For some reason the boy couldn't shake this feeling of malive, the previous miscommunications between the two only added to the hostility. "Nothin." He quickly offered a smug reply to satisy the conversation for the moment. He'd give him a chance to redeem himself. Hell, this was Zach afterall.

He drew his wings apart another foot each. They were nothing more than a pair of humongous, showy, webbed hands and certainly he figured Alec wouldn't be scared off by them as intended, but going through these motions made him feel a little better. It was inexplicable and deeper than conscious feelings.
His nostrils flared a little as he let out a short blast of air from them in the form of an infuriated sigh. What the hell did Alec think he was trying to do? How could this miserable thing even think of accusing him of - of doing that - to Amaya? Not only was he insulted at the very thought, but knowing that someone had done something to Amaya in the first place, he was content to pinpoint Alec as the prime suspect. He didn't really have lips any more, but the flexible and scaly skin lining his mouth was drawn back a little to show the barest hint of teeth.
It was a display, a threat, but an empty one, just like the spreading of his wings and frill. So he had "natural weaponry". What of it? He wouldn't resort to violence any more. He was long past it, above it. Every time he did it only made things worse for himself. He hoped Alec wouldn't see past his bluff and take back the remarks. And own up. "Yeah, I doubt that."

Alec could no long ignore ths sight before him, distractions now dwarfed by the increasingly insulted dragon. His wings really did the trick in making him look twice as big as he already was, which in itself was larger than the sharkboy as a whole. The fangs of all things would likely be the trigger for him to high-tail it out of there on any occasion but for some reason he didn't feel its effects like he expected of himself. The large scaley man puffing up like a pissed off swan only made him feel more aggitated, a tension running through the muscles in his chest until he felt its strain in his throat. What did he think he was doing? Flaring up in front of a gimp kid in a wheelchair. Was he mocking him? Underestimating him? In fact, neglecting the growing danger of the situation, he was starting to feel a little insulted himself.
"Neh, w's tha' supposed t'mean now?" The boy tilted his head to the side in a sudden twitch of his thick neck, a beady black pupil focusing rapidly to adjust to the wavering light and the large target in sight.

Despite the occasional twinge of pain from nerves less than a month old and spindly bones with their incessant but dull aching, it never felt better to spread his wings. Everything he'd said was with as few movements of his mouth as he could manage. He had to be careful, very careful, or his jaw would go sliding out on him again. He didn't want that. Hell, he didn't know how he'd gotten it back in place the few times it had. So he continued with his icy stare even when the shark avoided it. He wasn't going to let this kind of accusation be taken lightly.
This was evidently no longer a friendly meeting, but Zach could care less. He stayed poised on his strange feet, tail coiling in agitation. Sure, he cared about Amaya, but as she was out of sight, she was almost equally out of mind for the time being. He'd worry about the implications of her and eggs later. This was between him and Alec. "Do you think I can't tell you're trying to blame me for whatever happened to Amaya? What the hell is wrong with you?"

The strong words struck him hard but it only took him a moment of faultering to get his mind back on its original track. Unlike Zach, Alec had perceived this meeting from the very beginning as some sort of interrogation. He needed to find out who'd gotten Amaya into the mess she'd been in only to leave her to suffer alone in fear. The boy convinced himself he was doing this for herthough in reality her wellbeing was a mere undertone to his unstable course he'd begun a nosedive in in the recent past. He needed to find out who she had inevitably chosen to cling to for affection, care and protection. Someone who could never be him whether by his own inadequacies or the choice of the lizard girl herself. Even if he was somehow able to shove aside the pain and regret he felt whenever he thought about such things, he knew it was only time until memories were swallowed up bu the black. Someone had filled her heart with trust and love, and someone had used her to the worst degree. This, and with all else as useless undertones and shades of grey in his mind- was the one thought that consumed him.
He needed answers but moreso, he wanted -no, needed- revenge.
"Can' take a joke?" The boy mused tauntingly as he somehow was able to remain still and calm-looking as he was barraded by questions. He'd already made up his mind, Zach's guilt was as clear as a sign painted atop the dragonman's head; his mind and not his sense of reason was convinced. "So, ye sayin.." The boy paused, folding his hands in his lap in the way a school principal would. "..tha' theh's no chance you 'ad anehthin' t'do wi'er problem? Abs'luteleh."

"I don't think this is something to joke about," he snapped. This was disgusting. He still had that laughter ringing in whatever constituted his ears at this point. "I have done nothing with Amaya. I don't know what the hell you're trying to get at. It's not like I'm that much older than you, I know what teenagers are like. And it wouldn't surprise me at all if you're the one who... took advantage of her."

Every last vindictive thread in Alec's body vanished as he abandoned all intentions of egging Zach on for information and personal amusement. He'd done it. Zach had spoken the unthinkable, unspeakable sin. The very thought that Alec would ever do something so heartless and cruel to the one person he was closest to on that hellhole of an island made his nausea reoccur, almost to the point where the boy visibly heaved. How could he even so much as insinuate he'd do that? The stupid fool had no idea what he was feeling, the torture he'd put himself through for days, weeks on end where every waking moment was spent reciting memories and self-destructive mantras to rot his core within a mutilated shell. A man who not only was undeniably more attractive, talented, intimidating and full of potential than he, so much so that it seemed almost impossible that he could share a purely platonic and innocent relationship with a girl like Amaya. And now there he stood, flared and huffed to the extreme with a look that could kill and a body that undeniably could as well, standing and accusing him of a crime worthy of death in his books.
He didn't think or give time for his mind to spew out some half-hearted attempt at logic or reason. He couldn't feel himself arching in his chair, puffing his torso into an inhuman signal of aggression or stop himself as he found a substantial grip on the armrests of his chair. The only thing the boy could see now was pure white.
"Ye.... A'll fookin kill y-" There wasn't time to finish he sentence as the slack, fleshy gums dropped past his lips to expose the rows of sharp ridges. The opaque membrane slipped across his pupils as naturally as ever and without a second to rethink a single thing, he flung himself grappling at whatever part of Zach he could reach. He didn't care what he'd latch onto, whatever it was he made sure to stick. No tentative poking, no test-n**, straight to a flesh-tearing bite in a blind fury.

His eyes widened in surprise as the teen suddenly went from angry to predatory. This was one outcome he had not been expecting. There was no way to get away, he was too close, too ******** close! If he'd been just a little more invested in trying to get his balance back, he would have been able to run and escape. Without much thinking on his part he did the only thing that wouldn't send him sprawling if he moved too quickly. Firstly he threw his arms up in self-defense, protecting his head and arched neck. And second, a movement of his wings he'd never made before, one that seemed easy enough and yet he'd never had a reason to. The wingspan was long enough that each of them could be waved in front of him with their second useless layer of protection. There was a random scattering of pain in his muscles and membrane simply from being used. And then a much, much worse pain as sharp teeth ripped into some of the sensitive leathery skin stretched between wing fingers of his right wing.
The howl he made was not human in the least. It sounded much more like a big cat's roar spiked with various high notes, a scattering of broken glass to the ears. Not that he was too aware of it. The adrenaline and the pain shoved his mind into a panic. When the weight of his attacker dragged him down, he dropped immediately to his knees rather than try to wrest the wing away. The other he flapped wildly in his panic, all six feet of its lone span. The roar trailed off into a hiss, and it was all he could do to dig his claws into the grassy ground rather than try to reach around his torn wing to strike a blow. Injuries to parts of him that had been human before were always bad, but to brand-new aspects of his anatomy? It was beyond horrible. He couldn't think over the pain, his instincts nearly had a stranglehold on his conscious thoughts and all were conflicting.

As his attack wasn't well thought out at all, the desparity of the moment had resulted in more of a sprawling fall than a lunge at the man like he'd wanted. Nevertheless, the sound the soft membrane made as it tore inside his jaws only pushed him to continue. As Zach fell he did as well, as the boy was using the bulk of his victim to hold him seeing as the height difference and inability to stand was more prominant than ever.
Alec kept working his teeth into any exposed spot he could in the few seconds he had to use, now blissfully devoid of any human conscious or will to end the attack. Thankfully, as a well-timed and predictable as ever, the attack was brief. Just as the boy had fallen painfully to his stubby knees, planting himself and preparing for a vicious thrash alike the animal he reflected, he felt a strong tingle running along his spine. Before he could wake himself from his savage stupor and realize what was about to happen, he fell dead-weight, into an unconscious heap.
