"Really?" Mufasa asked curiously. "But why?"

He didn't understand. This guy was nice, and he played with him! He can't be that bad!

"In.... trouble...?" The cub was a bit more confused now. He sat down, letting the rain start to smooth his fur back down.

Despite his confusion, Mufasa smiled slightly. Uovu sounded happy but depressed almost.

"Well, I don't mind either..." Mufasa said. "If you need someone to lean on..."

Mufasa grinned. "Or if you're in trouble."

"Hah, if I'm in trouble, I should see you? You scoundrel!" Uovu's grin stretched further, and he let out a laugh, "I get into a lot of trouble... hey, I might just need that shoulder of yours to lean on sometime. Sounds like a deal, kid."

He chuckled, and found himself willingly drawing closer to Mufasa. This was unlike Uovu... he hardly felt so friendly towards another male creature... but, hey, Mufasa wasn't half-bad. For a cub, that was.

With a hearty laugh, the large lion gently and playfully cuffed Mufasa over the head with his paw.

"Hey, kid," he sighed, smiling, "You could teach me some pretty valuable stuff, y'know? How about we go hunting sometime? You were curious about it before... and I haven't got many guy friends hanging around. I need a break from the ladies every now and then, so-"

Rumble rumble - krrraaaaaaaka!

Uovu stopped speaking at once, and looked to the sky, pressing his ears back as he heard the distant rumble of thunder.

Aaaah, yes. The air was beginning to become warmer. A storm was to follow this pouring rain, and Uovu suspected it may pass over the savannah. Shaking his head, he realised that he needed shelter.

Playing with Mufasa was all well and dandy... but Uovu did need to return to the Southlands if he was to make it home in time to find suitable shelter.

"Hey, you hear that?" he asked Mufasa, straightening and sniffing the moisture on the air, "Looks like it's about to come here. Well, we'd better split before it reaches us, don't you agree?"

Mufasa smirked at the older male. "Yes, if you're in trouble, you see me," He stuck his tounge out at the older male and giggled. "It's a deal."

He didn't get to say anything more as he heard the thunder. His ears flattened.

He watched Uovu as he sniffed the air. His ears only twitching as Uovu began to speak.

"I agree, but I don't know if I can find anywhere. I don't remember which way I came from..."

He honestly didn't. He was having too much fun.

Uovu paused.

"Y... you don't know where you... came from?"

This could be problematic. While he wanted to look after Mufasa, he wasn't sure if he could offer a home for him. Pride life under Roho's rule would be brutal and strict, and with a leader that lusted for power so much... it might not be safe.
Still, Uovu felt a strong loyalty towards his new calling and leader, but didn't favour on Mufasa seeing his more... well... dishonest side.

"Kid... I... well, I can't bring..." he started, and stopped. No. If Mufasa didn't have anywhere to turn to, he could offer a place. Roho would most likely be fine with another addition to her pride in the Southlands, and Mufasa looked a strong boy. Mufasa could help with the invasion. There was a possibility. If life was too tough... well, he could run away. And Uovu would help him with that.

Suddenly, he felt a new feeling for the boy. Protective. He'd look after him, raise him, if Mufasa would let him. And Mufasa, innocent and pure, could teach him some things, too.

"Listen, Mufasa," he started, and paused as thunder rolled in the distance, "You can come with me. But listen. I didn't tell you this, but I belong to a pride. A lion pride, under the rule of a lioness named Roho. And... she's not the... easiest lioness to live under. She won't tolerate failure, or weakness. She's readying an invasion of the Southlands soon, so that the Southlands can belong to her. She and her pride," he paused, "Us. So, if you need somewhere to go, I can offer you a place. We can see Roho... I'm sure she'll let you in. As I said before, you look like you'll grow strong."

He stopped, and looked into Mufasa's eyes. They were so playful, so... so pure. Did he really want to expose this kid to such a pride as Roho's?

"You can leave," he added, eyes flashing, "Anytime you want. I can help you there. If you don't like it, that is! So the choice is yours..."

He paused, and looked down.

"Leave now, alone and free," he said, "Or come with me, and you can experience rule under Roho."

The storm was drawing closer. There wasn't much time left.

"No... I don't," He smiled sheepishly. He hadn't been paying attention to which way he was jumping or sliding.

Dark ears flicked slightly with the rain and the thunder.

... can't bring...

Mufasa blinked. He almost questioned before he heard Uovu speak up again.

Listen.

His ears tilted forward to listen, but shot back once the thunder rolled again. Come with me... His ears shot forward again.

He gave a brief nod to tell Uovu that he was listening, and also to confim after Uovu said 'I didn't tell you this.'

Mufasa blinked curiously as Uovu looked into his eyes.

"I... I'll come with you..." Mufasa answered. It didn't take him very long to decide. If Uovu was there... everything would be fine. Nothing could go wrong. He believed that with every fiber of his being.

"Nothing'll go wrong. I won't cause any trouble..."

I hope...

Mufasa's ears pinned back again. "I think we should leave now..." he said after flashing Uovu a toothy grin. "Which way?"

Uovu gazed at the cub with fierce admiration and loyalty.
He'd never been touched like this before... it was as if this cub was his long lost brother, the brother he'd wanted as a cub, but had never had.

"I assure you it'll be interesting," Uovu broke from a serious frown into his usual grin, "I'll take you into the Southlands, and we'll see if Lord Roho will approve of you. She's not that bad, once you learn to respect her, but when you first meet her, you'll need to be wary."

He chuckled, and gave Mufasa a playful nudge.

"Don't play too many pranks on her when we're there," he smiled, patting his new foster child on the head with a large paw, "Or, at least, don't let her catch you, alright?"

He grinned, and sized Mufasa up. He was healthy, and looked strong. He'd grow strong, too. This boy had potential. It wasn't certain, but Uovu was pretty sure that Roho wouldn't refuse a boy like Mufasa.

"We're called the Tononeka," he bent down lower, whispering in Mufasa's ear, "We plan to become a strong pride and take the Southlands for our own territory. Once in the pride, it's a friendly place, although you'll need to earn the trust of everyone around you first."

Ears pressed back, he heard the sound of thunder get closer, and the wind started to pick up speed. The savagery of the storm was about to begin.
But that didn't mean that they couldn't make a game out of it!

"We'd better get out of here!" Uovu laughed, darting about and sent another splash of water Mufasa's way, "Ready to do some running, 'Fasa? Southlands, here we come!"

Mufasa grinned when his foster father's mood lightened considerably.

"I won't play too many pranks," he said with a laugh.

"Earning trust?" Mufasa asked lightly. "I'll try. I think I can..."

Mufasa laughed as well when the water hit him. He darted after Uovu and splash water at him as well. "To the Southlands!" He laughed out. He made sure to splash into a big puddle; trying to aim it towards Uovu.

Uovu, chuckling at Mufasa's reply and turning to speak, copped a big puddle of water in his face.
Spluttering for air, he let out a friendly growl.

"HEY!" he laughed, chasing after Mufasa, "Since when did you have the power to hurl the whole ocean in my face? You're gonna' pay for that one, 'Fasa!"

He ran alongside his new friend, and smiled at the boy like a father would to a son.

The clouds of the storm darkened, and thunder boomed overhead, like it was chasing them. But they'd get out of there. Hey, it was just like a big game of tag... they were running away from the storm!

However, no matter how dark the clouds grew... nothing could darken the mood of Uovu, as he glanced proudly at his new boy.

A son.
