I know a friend of mine considered a LatD Tyranid hybrid army in the vein of possessed marines from StarCraft.

Not a bad idea, if a little unfluffy.

I remember seeing older tyranid armies in white dwarf with posessed humans. I dont think itd be doable to marines, but its not too out there.

I've seen possessed models (as in, CSMs) with tyranid rending claws and they look pretty good. You gotta use the warrior-sized ones, though, or they look a mite too weedy.

That was probably the basic idea behind it. i dont know what reasoning the modelers actually used, but i imagine itd be that. I just know I saw a lot of zombified humans with some 'nid bits sticking out here and there.

Hard to forget. Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure that I have those Fanatic issues laying around somewhere.

As for my LatD, I was looking to do something a bit on the flavorful side and use them in tandem with Alpha Legion. Nothing quite like portraying traitor guard as a AL cult. Throw in a few aspiring champions from different legions and we're good to go. More to come on this.

I remember a short story in some book probably Dark Imperium where an assasin has to have surgery in combination to the polymorphine to infiltrate a gene stealer cult. And at one point they made a reference to that 'patriarch in a limo' thing.

I wasnt the biggest nid fan back there so i kept trying to imagine a hive tyrant stuffed into a white stretch limo.

The Idea of Chaos obeying Imperial Guard is very appealing to me.

Well, there you go. That's more or less the point of LatD.

Plus, you get Mutants. I like Mutants. They're such lovely cannon fodder, and by strapping a gun to their bottoms, I can call them IG if I feel like playing them as such. Kekeke.

Anyways, I have a question. Since this force is going to be inter-changable, I might want to make a Commissar which can double as an Aspiring Champion. I want something fluffy and cool, and making sense no matter how I play it.

I'm thinking a demon with a Chef's Hat and Apron. You run, he eats you. Give him a power Cleaver, and everyone wins!

I vote for a Commissar as the default unit upgrade - I forget what it's called exactly. En...tice...erator?

Then tack on a cool looking armored Inquisitor model as your aspiring champ.

I've built a Lost and the Damned army from an old Cattachan army I started but never finished. I made the Arch Heritic out of the Comassar I had. a flesh trench coat made him look rather evil twisted . My mutants are a mix of old chaos parts I had, and random things I found in my bit box, such as a skaven... The traitor squads are made from the Cattachan box of infantry and Necromunda gangs(Van Saar and Esher) I painted them normal with pale flesh, black fategues, and the edges of vests and pockets outlined in blood red. Oh and for a nice mutated look, I stippled the skin lightly in spots with Litch Purple and Cammo Green to mimick scales. And the few space marine units in the army are ether Plague Marrines or Word Bearers... Oh and I use Bloodletters to add in an extra "kick" to close combat.
