"Mayhaps we will. I think if we follow my old trail, for as long as it's left, and backtrack, it'll set us in the right direction. It's far away, though, by way of a warning. I was just out of my cubhood when my journey started."

Perhaps it was like the cub she had been she was acting like now. A simplier, happier creature, all smiles and secretive amusement. Back when 'lost' was too far away from the den and Denge or Ithi would always find her.

"But going straight and unharrassed, this time it should take much less time. Not when one of us is clearly a warrior. Atleast...I think you are? I hope I haven't offended.." Well, she had been a cub that always spoke before she thought. Recovering her grown up tact, she looked apologetic - well, he did look liek one to her....but...

The title of warrior didn't phase him much, but simply got a bit of a smile and a nod from Auron. "You could call me such, though the art of 'war' is something that isn't familiar to my lifestyle." It was true he'd been into some fruitless scuffles in his life, but he wouldn't label himself -proud- of such things, to say the least.

"So for us, we shall hope for the best, providing our travels together do not consist of bickering, yes?" It wouldn't do either of them any good to fight throughout the entire thing, and possibly break away from each other, only to get lost again.

"I think you're idea is most fetching, and should prove us some good in what we're trying to do.. so..."

Standing up, Auron nodded a bit. "Shall we get going?"

"Yes, lets." Asherah got up and walked around to his side of the pool. She thought of a meaty bone she'd left near where she'd been sleeping, wondering if she should go get it, but dismissed it. They're been a whiff of hyena on the winds last night, let them have it. She was ready to get on the move again.

"I can't see why we'd fight, so far. Though tell me, do you like to talk and walk, or do you prefer silence?"

She inclined her head, paws itching to start some of that walking. She'd already figured out in her head, which way to head.

(Sorry I've taken so long to reply - had an exam and was busy revising ^^; )

He made no comment as to how he liked to travel, as he, had with experience, had none with company. So his honest answer would have been silence, seeing as Auron had never held a conversation with himself while travelling. It had been a suggestion one time, but he hadn't really thought much on it.

"Doesn't matter to me." he decided. If she wished to talk, he wouldn't tell her to be quiet, but he couldn't promise he could be much of a conversationist.

Bumping his weight against Asherah's side, Auron looked about, then addressed his thought; "Shall we get going, then?"

Auron didn't know where their journey was to start, so it was up to her to start the journey.

(( It's fine. ))

"Alright. We head this way, then, Auron." She offered a smile and started to walk in what should be a straight line back to where she had slept. They could take the curved path, but this way should be quicker. It was easy for her to lithely push herself through the long grass. For a lionness, a hunteress, it was second nature.

"We'll pick up my trail here."

It was almost suspicious how willingly this one accepted him as company. No strange questions, no interogation, no five feet of room between him and her.... it was almost creepy to him. Auron was simply too use to having a larger bulwark between newly-met strangers.

Stepping around the body of water that had worked as their meeting place, he kept a bit of a distance between himself and Asherah, not wanting to invade the 'bubble', nor push anybody into his own. The grass was easily ignored as he pushed his bulk through it, almost as if ignoring it.

Pausing when the dark female spoke, Auron looked about the area she referred to.

"It's fine with me."

She pressed her paw into an old pawprint from a short while earlier and smiled - the dew had made the ground soft enough to make a good impression. Asherah was in a good mood. Far too happy for a moment to really consider that she'd just teamed up with a complete stranger.

Ash turned back, eyes beckoning him to continue to follow. This was the right way.

Silent, but with a smile, she continued to lead the way. Her tail kept twitching, playfully. It was almost like hunting, tracking the way she'd come before - a game of hide and seek with herself. Well, herself, herself and Auron.

He took care treading behind her, but it seemed to throw him off a bit when she looked back at him with such trust to keep following, agreeing and adding another step to his pace to lessen the distance between them that much. Somehow, he'd managed to do so without quickening his pace, being as he moved at his own.

The game of 'tracking' oneself was something Auron had never done before, though it seemed like he'd be lucky enough to -not- have to be dragged around in circles by trying to follow where she had been.

Remaining silent as he followed, Auron looked about at the scenery that was definately a change from what he had been used to for a long while of walking around in seemingly circles.

"Hmm.."

They were actually making progress of GETTING somewhere.

"Hmm?" Again, she turned her head to look at him, questioningly. And what was that little noise for?

Unfortunately, soon enough, the scent literally would run dry. The grasslands gave way to undergrowth in one maybe two days of travelling, then there was a huge expanse of jungle. There was no way Asherah's trail would have lasted long in such conditions.

For now though, she followed herself eagerly, pleased to have found a companion - even if he wasn't a chatterer.

"Charting." he explained in a single word as to what he was doing as he looked about. Auron basically had to figure that unless he wanted to go in circles again, he had to get an idea of -where- he was going, and what was where in relations to what.

Wow.. that was confusing.

"Don't worry about it. Simply keeping myself occupied with -something- useful..."

Since staring at Ash's butt as they walked most definately wasn't productive, and probably frowned on in most cases. As he continued to follow the dark female, a thought passed into his mind; how long will they be walking, and where would they stop for the night? Well.. probably wherever they were when it got dark enough.

"Well, since I'm busy sorting out where to go, why don't you keep your eyes open for any possible hunts or dens for the night."

Charting? Asherah wasn't sure what that was, having never seen a map nor chart (except in OOC conversations...~). She was sure it was probably something smart. But filling their bellies if they got hungry and finding somewhere safe to bed down when they got tired seemed a better idea to her. There had been that nasty stink of hyena in this area a few times.

Auron nodded, taking his given task and putting it into his mind, hunt as a higher priority than the den, as it was still early in the day, and it would be better to find a place to sleep when they were closer to finishing with their travels for the day.

So mentally, his top priorities of making sure he'd remember where they'd been, as well as their meal. It was possibly not the best set of tasks to give to a lion who only had one good eye. No matter.

Auron wasn't about to complain on his tasks. It was his job to fill them. Nothing more.

"I do think it may be a while before I'll see anything, however.." he noted, being as it was still morning, giving him a bad light to see in.

Asherah was keeping her eyes out too....though she was more focussed on the trail. It was so hard to follow. Fun, but hard. You smell like yourself. You own scent is something you're saturated in, day in, day out. Your nose is used to it, making it harder to pick up.

(Skippage? X3' They're just gonna be a'walking and a'watching for a while at this rate.)

((Skippage it is! We'll say they walked for a while and... yeah.. Auron killed something too.))

Sniffing at the dead animal under his paw, Auron looked up to Asherah with his one good eye. "Good enough?" he inquired. She'd said for him to keep an eye out for a hunt. Of course.. she -hadn't- asked for him to randomly run off without warning to kill something.

But he figured that since he actually HAD, it would make for a good apology.

Sitting down, he simply stared at the female, inviting her to take first share, as he was, definately, a gentleman and wasn't about to just make her wait (as the stereotype seemed to be in most cases when the female made her hunt and had to wait for the lazy male to eat. Not with Auron!).

"Or would you prefer I apologize first for running off?"

"Sweetie, wander off whenever you want, just remember to bring home the bacon." Asherah briefly tilted her head, tail swishing, the picture of flirtation...that disolved as she trotted over into just a smile. Maybe, with luck, Auron would be getting used to the odd little change, the light hearted joke. Asherah really hoped so.

"Sorry for getting so caught up in that old den of mine I didn't help with the kill." She sat down, hungry but patient, hoping he left her enough. It was clear she expected him to eat first. This left them both sitting, looking at the other, over the meat.

"...you first?"
