Tai nodded his agreement, trotting towards the path. He arched his head up, staring at the clouds, before asking, "What's it like to have wings to soar?" He twitched his ears in thought, trying to remember Myoa's description of flying. How had she put it? Flying in the skies sends your soul soaring. You feel free, as if you could do anything you wanted to. In the skies, you're in another world, an unpredictable world that protects and strikes with one blow, but one that you love all the same.

Ironically, Shimshek was thinking the exact same thingas she tried to describe flying. "Flying is having a freedom that you could only dream of when you look up across the skies to see the far between and beyond. You have the wind at your beckoning, and yet, at the same time, you know that the wind is unpredictable. It could kill you with one strike... but... just as those of you who walk the lands at all times, I love the sky just as much." Shimshek knew that if any Wind Soquili was asked what flying was like, they would all say similar words. After all, flying was a sensation that was exhilarating.

Tai smiled, "That's quite deep, m'lady." He stood still in thought for a moment, then continued walking up the path. He wondered if all winged soquili would give a similar answer. Did all winged soquili love their wings? Of did they merely use them as tools? Tai wouldn't have bee surprised if a kalona thought that way...

"Isn't it?" she replied with a wry tone. "I'm fairly sure I got that from being airborne for too long. I'm almost afraid to say I'd prefer not to fly any longer after what I've been through," she said airily. "Okay, you see those trees over there? The ones that are bunched together really tightly? You can mark that grove so that you can make a pathway. I suggest you make a unique mark so that you'll recognize it when we come through again, because when we come down the mountain, I'll let you lead the way." She was hiding the fact that it felt both comfortable and uncomfortable to be around this stallion. NO, she thought fiercely, it was only because he seemed like a nice stallion, NOT because he was... he was... she promptly burned that thought before it became too much. She scowled at herself; she was becoming desperate, wasn't she? This was all Entreri's fault.. it had to be...

Now Tai's curiousity was piqued. Alhtough he made no verbal comment about the mare's scowl, the golden stallion was pretty sure that Shimshek was some internal conflicts. He wished he could help her, someway....but it wasn't his place to meddle.

Nodding, Tai padded over to the trees, and kneeled now, horn posistioned to carve. After a moment's hesitation, he etched in the sun on his left foreleg. Smiling, he trotted back over to Shimshek. "Thank you very much, Lady Shim. I really appreciate this." He commented, bowing.

She blinked at the odd mark he made on the tree, and could only find herself amazed at the skill. "H-How did you do that?" she blurted out without realizing she was too awed to really care or remember that he had used his horn. "That's amazing!" she examined the sun design closer, and let out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding.

She turned, and allowed a genuine smile to grace her features. "That's beautiful, Taiyaung. You have amazing talent." She pondered suddenly over the reason why she was so nice to this stallion. She was hardly nice to many, and usually she didn't care about others... much. She suddenly felt very uncomfortable.

She had no right to feel this way... and yet, when her thoughts turned to Artemis Entreri, and how she had felt with his rejection... How can I say goodbye to someone I never had? Why... Why do tears fall for someone who was never mine? Why is that I miss someone I was never with...?

She looked over to Taiyaung. "Let's go," she prompted, letting her thoughts roll into one last fleeting question... And why... why do I keep loving someone I never had...? I need to move on. It's obvious his heart is made of stone... I need to find... the one for me.

A light blush stinged Tai's cheeks as he mummured, "I've always been drawing in the sand, even since I was little..." A faraway look crawled into his eyes as he remembered the harsh desert that was his foalhood home. Tai shook his head at Shim's prompting. "Of course." He smiled. However, his mind wasn't truely that light, trapped in the terror of the past. What Tai needed was someone...to help him look foward towards the future.

Tai finally snapped out of his trance when he realized that Shim was clearly uncomfortable. He mentally kicked himself. He was brooding over something that could never be changed while Shimshek, would had kindly offered to escort him into the mountains was clearly suffering herself. An aura of suffering had overcome the mare, so much that Tai couldn't help but give Shim a quick, friendly muzzle.
