Ethan walked up to the counter (oh yes, he DEFINITELY did do what he just did: Ethan avoided having to stand in the line), and placed an order. He expected it to be ready in 1.22 seconds. He was short and less than courteous with his words, but they already knew him as someone who wasn't just anyone. "Darjeeling white tea, double-fudge mint brownie, white chocolate mocha -- no whipped cream, and a hazelnut biscotti, please." Already he was tapping his feet, and this was unusual. A bystander glared, obviously ignoring the fact that Ethan was James Brandt's son, and had nearly gotten into a serious vehicular accident.
It's strange for a child to do this; however, Caden wasn't just any child. He neither laughed nor grinned nor snickered when he saw Uziri tumble from her place in the box. The awkward circumstance was of no importance to him. He merely responded to Uziri's plight, and was beside her in a flash.

Isaiah flushed as some of the glares were directed his way, and he gestured helplessly. He wouldn't have minded waiting in line...
"Um. So...I'm, uh, I'm Isaiah," he said, more to distract himself from his growing embarrassment from the glares then anything else. "Nice to meet you."
So quiet, this one! Uziri was slightly disturbed by the silence, but took it in stride. None of the other children she'd met were this quiet...maybe he couldn't speak, poor thing. Uziri took in every inch of Caden's appearance, fascinated most of all by one of his hands. It looked so much different then the rest of him. Was he hurt? She pointed at it, looking vaguely concerned.

Extracted from his thoughts, Ethan remembered something, and became a little vulgar. "s**t!" The cuss word echoed in the small room, but everyone else guessed he didn't mind. They were correct. Even if these strangers had cared enough to ask him to calm down, Ethan would've still repeated it anyway. "Holy s**t did I not tell you my NAME?" His jaws remained open for a second, but the celebrity child recovered as always. His confidence came rushing back, and it obeyed no boundaries. He smiled a brilliantly bleached smile, and his golden eyes lit up as if it had captured all the light from camera flashes that pained him during his childhood. "Hi, I'm Ethan."
Caden saw Uziri looking at his hand. He wasn't embarrassed, though. He maybe a shy child, but he has never been shy about THAT. After he stuck his left hand out towards Uziri, the demonstration began. The fog-baby alternately "melted" his left hand into a stream of fog and solidified it back into a hand. Then came the right hand, which could not take its normal human form. With eyes tightly shut, Caden explained to Uziri that the fixing of this hand could not be done (all without speaking, of course).

Embarrassment instantly forgotten, Isaiah snorted and laughed aloud at the curse, simply because the utter randomness of its appearance struck him as funny.
"I'll remember that," he said, grinning wide enough for his fangs to be visible.
Uziri listened without listening, eyes wide. She nodded in half-understanding, then looked down at herself as though trying to think of something to share that would be equal. A tendril of her shadow-aura extended past her shoulder at random, and she brightened as she noticed it.
"Bneh!" she said, and with an effort of concentration picked up a half-eaten, half-crushed underfoot old cookie from the floor with it, and with more effort still threw it across the room without truly touching it.

You'd think that Ethan would be surprised at Isaiah's fangs, right? Well he wasn't. When Ethan was very little, he had fangs too. Human ones, of course, but if they all looked the same, who really cares, right? Anyway, he doesn't have them now -- and told Isaiah his tooth story in one short sentence. "You ever consider getting braces?" Of course, as Americans do, this one forgot his manners for a few seconds until he caught himself wanting to hide in a hole. Again he cursed himself. This time, though it came out in a mutter under his breath. "s**t, again! Ethan, you sure are screwing up a lot today." Maybe the boy should get etiquette lessons, or maybe become once again used to public/intrusive interviews.
Like guardian like spirit. Or something like that. Ethan's turquoise eyes brightened up from its previous state (might I remind you that it was dark and cloudy before having this non-conversation with Uziri). Watching Uziri demonstrate her ability -- or more so her likeness to him -- made Caden's blood circulate through his rather tiny body at a rapid pace. Not at all shy, and actually quite a bit impulsive for his character, Caden reached out to the shadow-aura, and "asked" Uziri what it was made of.
Side note: lol I love how fast we are at this.

Isaiah snorted again, looking dourly amused.
"If I did, I doubt they'd do any good," he said easily. " 'Sides, I don't want to starve to death- ah, here we go."
Their order was presented by a sullen employee behind the counter, and Isaiah took his tea gratefully. He sipped the scalding hot liquid with pleasure, smiling slightly.
"Mm. Pretentious and expensive, my favorite."
Uziri managed a shrug, shaking her head. She wasn't sure what it was, she tried to convey. It didn't come off in the bath, so for the most part she figured it was just some strange part of her.
((I quite agree. We're made of win in terms of speed, methinks. xD ))

A little bit wrapped up once more, Ethan missed Isaiah's last two sentences (which were rather important, I assume). He mumbled some more things to himself and suddenly realized he was being spoken to. Looking up from his coffee, Ethan questioned Isaiah with his eyes and a made a stifled noise through his hot drink. "Hmm?"
Again, a bit unlike himself, Caden smiled from ear to ear, still holding on to the aura. As the two guardians started to walk over, Caden noticed and pointed out to Uziri with his good hand. It meant "FOOD."
Side note: I gotta go eat dinner and do some homework, but I'll try to be back ASAP!

Sipping more of his tea, Isaiah just shook his head.
"Nothin'," he said offhandedly. "Just said I'd rather not starve. I-hey! Jeez, sorry," he said, apologizing quickly to the woman who'd bumped into him rudely. She glanced over her shoulder in disinterest and returned to the tooth-rottingly sugary pop music blaring out from her headphones. Iz bristled.
"Jeez...ucch. People."
Uziri's head swung 'round and she gave a shriek of joy upon seeing Isaiah again, as though it had been months rather than minutes since she'd seen him last.
((Okay ^^ ))

"You're not having a very good day in terms of bumping into things, are you?" To his own amazement, Ethan was opening up to a COMPLETE stranger. Well, a complete stranger that he just had a life-and-death encounter with. In any case, his previous foul mood dissipated, and all unhappy thoughts about missing class was gone. At a certain point during this coffee shop trip, Ethan decided on something very important: this was a big event, and it had definitely become part of his life not by coincidence but by fate!
To Ethan's disappointment, Caden did not greet him with as much enthusiasm as Uziri had greeted Isaiah. But then again, who can match up to her seemingly boundless energy? Anyway, Caden sort of "ran" up to his guardian with his mouth wide open, expectant, like a bird, to receive the biscotti. Then he downed it in one massively spoiled bite.

"Well, better bumping then stabbing, I suppose," Isaiah said, taking a seat and nudging the chair opposite him out for Ethan. He took another long swig of the tea, he felt something tugging at his leg and looked down.
"I know, Zee, gimme a sec...ah, here we go. Enjoy," he said, handing the expectant child her brownie.
Uziri beamed, more at the brownie then at Isaiah, and commenced to gnawing on the thing with enthusiasm.

Ignorance wore off, and this time, Ethan hurt what Isaiah had said. Except he wanted to confirm it. I mean, you can't just straight out accuse someone of being a vampire. They might not even exist! "Stabbing? What do you mean?" This was a college town, and it had been a college town for a while. It was well known that only rich kids came here, so it's extremely unusual for someone to talk about getting stabbed. "Where did you say you came from again?"
Caden and Uziri sat on the ground, busily digesting their afternoon snack. Drool abounded, but the two little ones were well out of sight of the cleaning/baking clerk.

"Heh, nothin' really. Just kidding around," Isaiah said, grinning. "I just prefer being bumped into rather than being jumped or beaten up, that's all. It happens more then I'd like to admit..."
Taking a sip of tea, he shook his head.
"I didn't, actually. I come from Durem, 'bout an hour's walk or so from here... if I got my bearings right, anyway. See, I kind of wandered into this city by accident. Not that I was really going anywhere to begin with. Why d'you ask?" he said, clearly of the opinion that Ethan was well-informed of Durem and the world it lay in. If he himself could wander into a new world so easily, people must have been able to do it at will around in England, right?
Uziri, breaking the brownie into pieces to better gnaw at them, burbled in distress as she saw Caden had nothing. She pushed a piece of brownie towards him somewhat shyly, avoiding his eyes.

"Durem?" Of course the guy had a vague impression of the city's name... he had access to the internet, didn't he? However, already in a shocked state, Ethan couldn't recall. "I don't believe I've ever been there. And you say it's only one hour away? Huh. That's close. Maybe we can go hang out at your town some time, you know?" Having a separate agenda, Ethan counted on his suave statement to bring him closer to the truth, as if he had once again suddenly become a guest investigator on the set of CSI: Miami. "So tell me more about Uziri. She's somehow different, like Caden is, isn't she?"
Not too surprised by Uziri's sharing of her brownie (because he can read body language very well, and he can express himself solely in body language very well), Caden decided to thank her with a show before gobbling up her share of the food. After a slight (VERY slight) wink he started to concentrate hard. It took a while, but he vanished. For a minute or two. Just as Uziri was starting to get worried, Caden reappeared in the same spot he had left two minutes ago. He pointed at the spot with his left hand, and no brownie could be found. Caden then pointed at his tummy, matter-of-factly.

"That'd be cool," Isaiah said casually. "Anyway, it only took an hour since I was wandering every which way. You could probably find the way in like fifteen, twenty minutes tops on that scooter thing of yours."
At Ethan's question, Isaiah leaned on the table, propping himself up on his elbows and looking down at the infant.
"Different doesn't even begin to cover it," he said with a laugh. "She was a rock first, I'm pretty sure. Chased me down an alley and punched a gigantic hole in my front door...who the hell gets chased by a floating rock, anyway."
Wide-eyed in astonishment at Caden's ability, Uziri felt an obligation to applaud. She clapped clumsily, and offered Caden another brownie-bit.
"Bvah!" she said, smiling at him toothlessly.

At that, Caden was stumped. There wasn't really anything else he could say, and who wouldn't be embarrassed if their private intentions had been discovered. The teen sat in his chair, and decided to sip his white chocolate mocha and pass on the awkward silence.
Feeling a bit lightheaded from his efforts, Caden shook his head to Uziri's second offer. He wasn't rude about it, though. The little fog boy simply blinked, burped, and pointed to his tummy once again. Hopefully Uziri got the idea that it was full, and had Caden been willing to talk, he would have said "No thank you."
