We originally thought that Ashten's cat was just trying to show dominance - but then it didn't make sense because he was the runt of the litter, and he was especially attached to a cat that was clearly his superior (and on many occasions Ashten's cat was harshly rebuked). So I think he's just gay, same as his brother. Oddly enough neither cat is fixed.
The dogs may be different - though both of my dogs were fixed prior to going into heat for the first time and they've never mounted each other in a sexual way (just to throw the other down) - the same goes for another dog we had after it's first going into heat (but she's not all there - the dog is certifiably below average dog standards).

Raeden Michelle REDGallenger I don't know if it's genetic, but my Fiancee has a cat that is exclusively gay - I've mentioning this before here though. We've experimented more than once, and there's even been two different female cats in heat around him, and he will not only run away from them, but he'll do his absolute best to escape the situation. But if a male is around well.. that's a different story. He also had a cat from the same litter that we had no choice but to name "big gay bear" because it looked like a bear, and it was also homosexual, almost exclusively. wow! I have this "theory"...if a female dog is fixed BEFORE their first period, they will have a higher tendancy to mount another dog, male or female (sometimes even people). But, if you wait until AFTER their first period, then they don't have the tendancy, or it is much less. I have had 3 dogs. Two of which were fixed BEFORE and one AFTER. this is exactly what happened to them...just a theory though... Ohhh! I can help with your little experiment. I have a female dog, and before she had her period we got her fixed. Well we've caught her numerous times humping our other male dogs because she's just that awesome. Highfive. Plus, I have a gay 9 year old rat terrier male. For all his life we've had plenty of female dogs and not once would he advance toward them. But whenever we've had male dogs we've caught him tryin to erm.. 'offer blowjobs' and all around humpin their legs like crazy. Lol!

I love gay animals. Seen quite a few too. whee
The first was my friend's horse, who is deeply attatched to the alpha male. They're so cute.
Then, there is my art teacher's dog. He growls at females, and presents to males. Won't step in puddles. If you bop him lightly with a stuffed toy, he cries. And he's overly dramatic. He will fake an injury for attention. Yeah, he's totally gay. She even says so.
