The lioness slowly began to lumber towards the watering holes, her stomach swaying back and forth heavy with the meal of Zebra. She looked at Kenai thoughtfully and smiled. "well, in the event things dont go well... Im glad to have met you."

His eyes widened and he glanced at her sideways, hoping she was just kidding. "I am sure they'll go fine... and even if they don't we can still see each other!" His ears flattened. "I mean if you want me to visit you, where ever you may be... of course.." He sort of rambled to a stop, looking back to where he was going.
They got to the watering hole and he leaned down to drink, ears perked to listen to what she might have to say next. He was feeling embaressed, but he wasn't exactly sure why.

Ayo chuckled a bit and nodded. "Well of corse you can, I just wouldnt want you going against the wishes of your family." She said as she moved to the waters edge.
Drinking deeply she thought of what he had said, they had become fast friends in a short amount of time... and she didnt want to loose that today should anything go wrong. Ayo was glad to hear that he would still wish to be her friend and to visit her in her travels. Everyone needed a friend...

He gave an unsure laugh. "I'm sure my family wouldn't wish ill upon a new friend of mine. And I am quite sure they wouldn't forbid me to see them, wether they liked that friend or not.." He was trying to ligthen the mood. "My sisters mate for example... my dad almost murdered him when he visited these lands the first time." He grinned. "But now he has seven or so grandkids."
Yes, a really big family. "Anyways, want to get it over with? I'm sure my father will like you. You're easily likable, is what I mean.." His tail flicked and he glanced to her.

Ayo nodded softly and shook her head in the water. To clean te dried blood from her mouth. She shook her head sending droplets out around her. She nodded to Kenai and felt vaugely reassured. "Well...hopefully he wont wish to kill me and we can start off on the right paw."
She chuckled as she followed after Kenai, her tail flicking playfully from side to side. "well... Its good to know im likeable. I'd hate to think I'd scared others away from me all this time. "

He chuckled slightly, moving toward the dens. He did not mention that the reason why his father had probably wanted to kill Uumi was because he'd gotten his older sister pregnant while they were only adolesants. "There aren't many he wants to kill." He just murmered, tail flicking back and forth as he let the quiet buzz of the kusini savana fill his ears. It was a nice sound, he could lay in the grass for hours listening to the bugs and rare brushes of wind, the distant animals. Asi was laying on his side in front of his and Ari's den, staring at nothing. He was thinking about how Ari would never enter this den, never sleep in it with him. Would never cuddle up into him. He shut his eyes and tried to let the blackness was over his mind, tired to keep the thoughts from completely destroying his sanity.
His ears perked, he thought he could hear soft padfalls, but figured he was just imahening it. What was he supposed to do with himself? How was he supposed to live on... he should give the pride to Tamu... he was ready enough..

Ayo walked quietly along beside Kenai. They had grown quiet and lost in their thoughts as the dens steadily approched them. Ayo was wondering how everything would go over, she desperately wished to be accsepted by Kenai's family, but if she was not she would venture out into the lands once more. However this time it would be hard to turn her back on the land. She couldnt just forget Kenai even though they had known eachother for a short while. He had touched her heart and broken down the walls that she had callously put up to keep herself from getting hurt.
Now she wondered if she should have let him in at all. Her tail flicked behind her, rustling the grass as she walked. The Dens soon came into view and the massive male lion laying at the enterance of one of them.

Kenai frowned imediately. Yes, usually he lazed around like it was his job... but something felt wrong about this and his father looked miserable. "Da, what's wrong?" He said unsurely as they got even closer. He glanced to Ayo with an unsure look and shook his head softly. She should wait a moment. "Are you alright?"
Asi breathed slowly and he lifted his head at his son's voice. He frowned very slightly and his eyes darted to Ayo. What now? But then his mind registered the concern in his son's voice. He pulled himself into a sitting position and sighed deeply. "Kenai... yer mo'er... yer mum.. she.." It was hard to say, he didn't want to say it. "'Nahi go' to 'er annee 'ow." He mumbled, his voice getting lower as he words went on. "Dead." He finally said, and that word rung out clearly.
Kenai stared at him blankly, ears flattening. What did Asi mean his mum was dead? His eyes flickered to the den in doubt and suddenly he sat down. His mom couldn't have been dead, she was the strongest lioness he knew. "What?" He said faintly, looking rather upset. "Denahi was here?" His thought patterns wouldn't behave correctly, and so it was trying to shove the thought of his mother being dead far away. "I... I... I don't know what to say dad.." He breathed, staring at his paws. Oh his chest hurt so much, he did not get to say good bye to his only mother. His beautiful, strong mother. She couldn't have been dead.
Asi stared at his youngest son and sighed slightly. He moved forward and nuzzled him, eyes catching the stranger again. "An'oo migh' this be?" He said, changing the subject completely.
Kenai was greatful to get off of the current topic. "Oh, this is Ayo dad. Ayo this is my father, Asikari." He said, still looking rather upset though.

Ayo paused as Kenai rushed forward to his father. She sat down and watched with consern at the exchange of words, but heard nothing of their conversation as she didnt want to seem nosey.
The Lioness dipped her head in greeting when she was finally acknowlaged, but she was still worried about that expression on Kenai's face. Something was terrably wrong.
"Pleasure to meet you." she said bowing before the large lion.

Asi blinked and bowed back to Ayo, glancing sideways at Kenai for a moment. Why was kenai bringing his father a lady to meet? Asi was obviously getting the wrong idea about the pair. "Aye, aye. It be good teh meet yeh.." He said slowly, eyes flicking between Ayo and Kenai. The landed on Ayo again and rested there, though it was a soft look and he wasn't trying to make her uncomfortable. "Where yeh be from?" He said, not knowing what else to ask about.
Kenai watched the exchange of his father and Ayo, feeling very upset. He didn't know how to fit himself into this conversation so he just looked up at the sky, tail flicking back and forth in the dirt.

Ayo's amber eyes flitted to Kenai as he looked skyward and worry knitted on her brow. She stepped a little closer to the pair so they could speak with ease.
Turning her gaze to Asi she continued. "Well, Im from no where in particular. I dont have a place that I call home, Ive always travled, and in doing so I met Kenai. He has shown me around this land, and I must say I really like it here. I was hoping it would be alright if I stayed for awhile?"

Ah, a wanderer. He glanced to Kenai, wondering if she was staying because she was tired... or because she liked the lands... or if it was for his youngest son... well, it could be a number of reasons and there was no point on dwelling in them. "Aye, most lions and lionesses tha' come 'pon these parts be free ter stay in 'em." He said, giving her a weak smile before glancing to Kenai. "I 'ave some patrolin' ter do, sorry I can no stay longer." With that he rose and stretched, glancing to Ayo. "Be nice meetin'yeh." And he began to walk away.
"Sorry. Usually he is much friendlier." Kenai said softly, looking back to her and smiling. "See, I told you everything would go fine."

Ayo nodded softly to the lion as he turned to walk away, free to patrol his lands, or just to sink away to somewhere quiet where he could be alone. Her brow still knitted with worry, there was a heavyness in the air around the dens. "It was a pleasure meeting you as well." she said before he left them
Her attention turning to Kenai she offered him a small smile. "Yes, I do suppose so. Are you alright?" she asked him moving closer to his side.

He blinked and frowned, shaking his head. He could be honest with Ayo, right? "I'm not sure." He murmered. "My mother was the strongest lioness I ever knew and.." He trailed off. "I'd rather not speak about it." He offered her a sad smile, hoping she'd understand.
"Perhaps I can bring you somewhere else in these lands?"

Ayo frowned, though she didnt press the issue with him. He would tell her what was wrong when he was ready. Perhaps his mother was sick? She smiled at him, trying to be comforting, though it was something her solitude had left her unexperianced with.
"I'll follow you anywhere you want to go Kenai." she said with a nod of her head, she just wanted to cheer him up.
