Yea I was thinking the same thing, maybe they're just going for a different type of hunt? Hell who knows, AVP has soooo many flaws! Rawr! Like how scar didnt commit suicide for being impregnated. Sure he would have been knocked out but dont you think they're a little bit smart enough to know what happens when they wake up next to a dead, unharmed facehugger? That and the Queen stabbing her heir's host, why would she try to kill the host when its got her last offspring inside him? Gawd I could go on for days...especially about those suddenly elongated and vertical mandibles...-sigh-

I think that impregnated creatures can actually fight back at first, and the predator could have just ripped it off, and also, when the predators where carrying him on the ship, didn't they see the alien gestating in him?

gha... AVP..... FOX ******** RUEND IT!!!
PostPosted: Thu Apr 19, 2007 9:30 pm

I think it would have been awesome if they would have let Scar commit suicide in the end (it was in the script for him to do so) but since FOX seems to enjoy ruining the Yautja culture that we know (canon, secondary canon, and fan made)... *sigh* According to the notes at AvPGalaxy they figured it wouldn't have made sense. Average joe blow movie goer may not have gotten it but damnit! The rest of us would have known. Then again I think Joe Blow would have made the comparison to a Samurai or other culture that has Bushido and made the ******** connection.

If I remember right the drone knew Ripley was carrying one and spared her. She mentioned it was a queen. I'm not sure why the Queen in AVP wouldn't have known. Then again when you have something trying to kill you like Lex and Scar were trying to kill her she might have said hell with it. I can lose one now, kill them, and make more later. I'm not an Alien expert so I couldn't say for sure.

The queen killing Scar really wasn't conflicting at all. @_@ I'm not sure why so many people seem to complain about it. In case you guys haven't noticed, the queen is happily willing to sacrifice hundreds of her drones to save herself if necessary. And on top of that, she was under attack and evidently the burster had somehow developed to a point where it would have lived on if the host was alive or not. The movie is so horribly littered with contredictions, but this is not one of them. (In Alien3, the runner spared Ripley because the burster inside her was a queen. Its meaning in existance is to protect its queen, and that wasthe only one of its hive around. It would have killed for Ripley's sake. They're generally not so soft on hosts of other drones who are out and walking about.)

Well hell Chupi, at least I'm learning! LOL!

Oh, and as for them being in Antarctica... it was a jungle when the temple was built but even if they are in snow up to their asses, they may not be comfortable but they will hunt wherever there is honorable prey. They just adapt their armor to keep them warm. In one of the books Machiko mentions that they do not like to be cold and that they have their heaters on full blast and that even on the lowest setting is almost too hot for her (not an exact quote but you get the idea).

As for the disk and the shurkin (called something else but I can't remember what offhand)... two different weapons.

also, in the book cold war, the predators set off a minicture nuke when they landed. to melt the permafrost. they also wore a much thicker heater. one could say they wore two heaters just to be safe.

and chupi, if you say there the hish i'm gonna punt you. the yautja in the book cold war were rather acurate and acted acordingly.

Hish never existed until Alien VS Predator, why would I call preds in one of the older books them? And jurupamae. It is called the shuriken, officially. As in official AvP products and people from the film call it the "Predator shuriken."

Maybe I was thinking something else then. I mentioned in another thread it is the weapons that I have a hard time with, which is why I don't try to RP a Yautja or human character. One of these days I might have to bite the bullet and try it.

Oh... and speaking of RP, I was reading one on another site and they were after a King Alien. Is that just some made up s**t or is there actually such a thing? I had never heard of it but again Aliens are not my forte.

it's not realy made up. king aliens are seen in some of the comics... although there generaly mutant queens altered by humans in a attempt to create a weapon.

oh and chupi, you said forevor midnight that the yautja were actualy hish.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 19, 2007 10:24 pm

Forever Midnight invented the term Hish. It was made AFTER Alien VS Predator. @_@ And kings actually are just fan crap that's completely illogical... Rogue had something some like to call a king that was man-made, but it was a chimera and couldn't be classified as any sort of existing xenomorph caste. And if you do want to consider it a king, evidently kings don't get along with queens because one of the first things he did after growing up was get in mental yelling matches with the queen, get used by the queen to unleash her brood into the facility as he broke his way into the arteficial hive, and get slaughtored by her when he attacked her intending to kill her.

EDIT: This was the rogue. And the Rogue was... Bloody ignorant. Despite what you'll see, the thing was a raging blob of... Genocidal rage. The reason it left Kray alone is he was tied down, the thing went berserk over things that moved.

EDIT 2: And for the sake of letting it be known, I read the novel before the comic... And I must say the novel's better. The entire reason I bought the comic was actually to SEE the praetorians mentioned in the novel. XP I wanted to get a comic scan of them to show that they weren't only in the games. But reading the book they sounded like they were going to be identicle or almost identicle to the video game praetorians, but it turns out they're quite different. Though I do enjoy the variant design as well.

only blooper i know is in the second one where they see the first guy hanging from the gang near the beginning of the movie. note the nice amount of blood on him. then the scene where you see the body get pulled up for some reason its extra coated in blood.
