Favorite boss fight? Wow! Umm.... Ooh! FFIV's Bahamut! That was one difficult fight! Believe it or not, I beat him with just Cecil and Rydia left! No, wait! Rydia was the only one living, and she kept on casting Nuke and kicking serious @$$! Of course, she had Wall on her to reflect MegaNuke, so Bahamut did most of the damage to himself. Hehehehe! In the wise words of Bugs Bunny, "Ain't I a shtinker?"

normally, the knee-jerk is to say sephiroth for me, but i've had to deal with worse bosses.
The Iifa tree in FF9 was my favorite boss fight in that game. Killed me a dozen times before i realized: "Wait, it's UNDEAD! Steal, steal, steal, steal, Phoenix down, suckah!"

sephiroth in FF7 was actually kind of easy. in KH1, he just mauls poor sora in less than 2 seconds every time i try to fight him. i only beat him once, and my next-door neighbor stole and hocked my PS and all my cards less than a day later, so i could never remember what level i was when i finally beat him.
kh2, i still haven't beat him.
HE HAS BUTT-WINGS, for ShinRa's sake!
Sephiroth is the most famous one, but not really the hardest one to beat.
my personal favorite? Kefka. No particular reason. ya just gotta love a psycho clown boy with wings and horrible fashion sense for going nuclear on the world, and looking damn scary doing it. whee

my favorite boss is got to be ruby weapon. i have nvr gotten a challenge from a boss like ruby. i have yet to beat him but im close.

Xiao_Hoa Raziel Seraphan My fav boss? Omega Weapon!!! From FF VIII!!! I so f****n awesome!!!! and his sword is just like Cloud's Ultima weapon!!!
Yeah he's one of my favorites too!
It's been a LONG time since I played that game. I agree that was my favorite FF boss. Man, I should go play that....

The boss to FF1 was pretty cool. It was really odd though, The firs time I lost to him because he has a spell to give him all his Health back.
But, the second time I beat him in about 15 minutes. It was really weird.

Unless the policy changed while I was inactive here, I'm pretty sure this is a strictly FF7 only Guild?
Anyway, in answer to your question, the hardest boss of all in my opinion was probably one of the Dark Aeons from FF10, regardless of being optional. Otherwise my decision comes down to Necron from FF9. Jesus that guy was S.O.B
However, in strictly FF7 Senses, I'm going to have to say it's between Emerald WEAPON for optional and Safer Sephiroth for mandatory because they both hit hard and faster than most things in the game.

FFVII wise, it'd have to be emerald and ruby WEAPONS. i end up with only one chracter fighting that WEAPON all the time!! even w/ the KORT materia, i still can't beat it! arg! but altogether, SEPHIROTH ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!

hard decision... ive had harder enemy battles than boss battles but id have to say that my favorite boss fight would go to fighting Kuja from Final Fantasy 9 xD

My favorite boss of all time was the one from Final Fantasy Tactics, at the end of Chapter 2, I can't ever remember his name, the one with four arms. But for Final Fantasy VII, I'd have to say.... Ultimate Weapon was awesome and so was the Boss in the tower with yuffie
