Hmmm, so, in 10th grade I had to analyze a song and I chose Pink Spider and took the stance that, yes, indeed, it was a suicide note.
Now, however, I'm not so sure. There is tones of symbolism suggesting suicide...But, everyone figures that the spider's view is hide's own.
I guess we'll never know. confused

I read it, with suicide not in mind, yesterday, and it does come across as one, but why would hide have wnated to kill himself? He was at the peak of his career, and him and Yoshiki-sama were very close, they were even planning to bring back X....so why would he?
You are right, we will never know ;3;

I've come to this conclusion...
It was said that hid was a very different person when drunk. He would often do things he greatly regretted after sobering up. He was also drunk the night he died.
I think he may have gone into a drunken depression, and, not being in the right state of mind, hung himself. Had he been sober, he probably would not have done it.
After doing alot of research on him, I find that hide and myself are very similar. And from personal experience, I've found that little things can send me into a deep depression. This is why I will never drink, because I fear that, like hide, I will act very differently when drunk and hurt people, or myself.
This is why I feel such a connection to him, and why I wish I could meet him and tell him how I feel.
But, with my luck, even if he was alive, I would never get to even see him...*le sigh*

I know what you mean.
hide seemed like...Not a happy-go-lucky person per-say.But, spontaneous and happy. (I think I've done enough research to match yours haha~...Trust me xD.) And, I know exactly what you mean, about the drinking, because I read about that, too. I'm a different person when I drink...And it makes me not want to, but, I do anyway. Drink or Die xp.

Ahhh Wolf, what you said, i agree, and i think actually, that may have been the case. I doubt he wouldve wanted to commit suicide at all, him and Yoshiki were so close and were planning to get X back togther, and death affects very deeply the people aroudn you, i doubt he wouldve wanted to hurt Yoshiki-san, didnt he go into depression for like 3 years was it?
ok another one for you, Kaoru-sama from Dir en grey is a big fan of hide-sama, his hair when diru first started out, Pink on top and black underneath, like hide's, i dont know if he meant to, but it does loook like hides, but anyway, he has 'Japanese Zombie Heoroz' on his arm. hide was his hero, is japanese, and i guess you could say zombie...? Kaoru said he had it done as it meant something to him?
Reading too deep into the tattoo or may it have somethign to do with hide?
i think it might be reading too far into the tat tbh but what do you guys think?

Yeah, I think that's reading a little too much into it. Kaoru is a big fan of hide, true (I even heard he used to bring a hide plushie with him backstage for goodluck! xD). I don't think his tattoo has anything to do with hide. ((If any of you are going to the Diru concerts in the states...Why don't you ask him? xD けど。。。日本語でね。
About the suicide thing. Let's take this from the perspective that, he indeed, commited suicide. People argue 'well, he wouldn't have done that, he wouldn't have liked to see Yoshiki and his fans depressed...He wouldn't have wanted to hurt them'. Which I think is a great point, however... Suicide IS a selfish thing. When you get depressed like that, I don't think you can take it anymore. And say if he was drunk, and not at all depressed or contimplating suicide...Why would he write such a song like Pink Spider? A song which is so heavily induced with this kind of imagery and symbolism? Truthfully, hide knew how he acted when he got drunk, he knew that he would do things he often regretted and get into fights with Yoshiki. So, why would he keep doing it? Is it possible he just didn't care about himself anymore? Again, this is just all speculation, but...

The fame may have been too much for him to take. He was at a peak in his carreerrr, and for that will be remembered. I really do believe that things happen for a reason, and its as if hide was meant to die that young, to keep his memory alive for so long after.

And that is why I never talk about him as if he is gone...in many ways, he isn't and probably never will be, not as long as his fans continue to love and celebrate his life and his music. We'll keep his memory as bright as his bright pink hair. biggrin

Okay personally I see hide's death as a tragic accident. I mean lots of bands write suicide songs and such. Maybe just a coincidence? I heard that he was probably trying to relieve tension from his shoulders by doing this stretch or what not that he learned and he fell asleep while doing it. I mean it was a door knob he hung himself from, right? How hard was it to get up and walk away from it? I mean he may have had second thoughts like every suicidal person has, I have tried to commit suicide and always have second thoughts. Okay you can argue he was depressed and it was a suicide. I wonder why he did it the way he did? If it was suicide it was a weird one to say the least. He didn't choose some place high to do it like in most cases and he used a towel. I remember reading this book about a guy who hangs himself and how it affects everyone who knew him. When I heard Pink Spider for the first time and read the lyrics I automatically thought about the Greek Story about Arachne and Athena. In the end Arachne hangs herself and Athena in pity and mercy brings her back- not as a human but as a spider. I love Greek Mythology! I read this one book on it all the time!!! I think Hurry Go Round is more of a suicide note than Pink Spider. Just check the lyrics. And I wrote something on my site about hide's death. I've been thinking a lot... and all the time, one word kept on appearing: "why". i believe that good bye is the real suicidal note because he had been depressed for a time if you look at his behavior closely thro the time he made seth et holth til the time he died he was even picked on when he was young the song good bye keeps saying bye to everythings it takes time to live he took his time because he was really sad my bro said a quote that reminded me of hide "I am not going die a no name i want to be knew and respected before i die" it was released two years before hide's death but by just seeing him perform the songs that song had the most emotional voice in it "Good bye" to everythings Pink spider was a song he left for us to say "i am finally gone to the sky dont worry about me,my spirit will be reborn,I had always wanted to go but had failed earlier, now i am gone"
