"We're going down the the Turks gym ... there should be enough room down there." He headed for the door without another word.
Reno slung his arm over Kaleb's shoulder as he came around the desk. "Least he only wants ta see ya work"

Kaleb moved to follow Rufus, and jumped a bit as he felt Reno's arm across his shoulder. "What do you mean?" He asked the redhead as he walked, dedicating some of his attention to memorizing the route they were taking through the building so he wouldn't get lost later.

"It's Rufus, never know what he actually wants until he does something." He laughed as they headed for the gym. He'd been in there enough to know that he was at least going to have some fun.

Kaleb glanced over at Reno with an almost edgy expression, before going back to looking around as they walked. "I-I think I can understand that much," he muttered, remembering how easily the topic of conversation had turned that one night in the office.

He pressed his hand against a panel beside the door and headed inside the gym. He would have to give Kaleb access to this eventually.
He led Kaleb inside. "See .... so you're lucky"

Kaleb nodded, but perhaps it would have been more appropriate to say he had gotten lucky. Who knew how long such luck would hold out. He fidgeted a bit as he was led into the gym, thinking like that made him edgy.

"Kaleb." He was leaning against a chair as he turned to look at Reno and Kaleb. "I would like to see what you can do with those shields of yours. Reno will be ..... administering the test"
He snickered. "That means you hold up a shield and i throw s**t at you"

Kaleb just blinked. Throwing stuff? Even if Reno had a strong arm, it would hardly be a test of his skill unless there was more too it than that. "O-okay," he said hesitantly, "Although i-it would have been more of a test if you hadn't told me I was about to have something thrown at me."

"Didn't tell ya what i'm throwin at ya." He had a nice stock of Materia he could toss at the kid plus there was a large rack of weaponry in the room too.

Point taken. Kaleb shifted his weight a bit, tugging at his jacket sleeves. "Were you going to start then?" he asked simply, once again starting to feel almost excited. There were only a few things in his life he could feel confident about, and his shielding techniques were one of them.

He walked around the room toward Rufus before he turned around again. Tapping into the water materia first he sent the magic at the other Turk. At least if his reactions were slow all the other would get was wet.

The simple water magic was easy to block, and Kaleb had enough time to construct a full shield around him so not a single drop of water touched him. The shield was gone as soon as the attack was over, and the mage almost eagerly waited for Reno to make another move.

Okay so he wasn't as slow as he thought. Switching Materia he used a higher level lightning spell.

Lightning was much faster than the water, but luckily the protection spell was also much faster to cast. It wasn't a shield as much as a magical lightning rod, which attracted the lightning and drove it to the ground with a crackle of sound. Kaleb's eyes didn't even leave Reno to watch the spell or his casting, that way if the redhead attacked again he could be ready for it.

A fire spell followed the lightning. It was almost annoying to the Turk to have someone toss aside his spells that fast. Generally at least one of them would have hit.
