New Flatmates?!
Well this is a shocking state of affairs! What I thought would be another job has lead me to take on a couple of children! Well, not exactly children, at least not human children. Perhaps I shouls explain it better and begin from the start...
A while back I had been contracted to do some photos for the town's museum, to make up brochures and posters for their latest exhibition. Something on archeology and relics? Digging up bits of spears and other man-made objects from ancient times, so basically lots of photos of dirt and trowels and old bits of pots. I must admit it was pretty interesting and I must have done a good job on it because I got a call to come back to the museum a week later. But unlike another job to do as I had expected, the Curator ( a tiny little man!! ) smiled at me and said I was 'just right'.
Just right for what?! Well I soon found out when he lead me to another room where a pair of very odd looking toddlers were inspecting anything and everything on his desk. About a foot hight and sporting little wings and a long tail, it was obvious they weren't human and I was later told they were called 'Aduthule'. Apparently they come from relics themselves, appear from them alive and like this. Now that was something I would have liked to have seen and photographed, an inanimate object coming to life as these two little beings.
But it appears I get to witness the next best thing, as the short man explained that he'd like me to take them home and look after them! Watch them grow, help them with life and record what I could about it for the museum. Well I never! This is going to be very interesting... and hard! I've never looked after children before... I hope Mrs Forester in the apartment next door isn't going to complain about me. sweatdrop

Settling in
Well it would seem things are going.... interestingly. The girls have been at my appartment for only a couple of days now. Good thing they're so small so I can easily fit them into the one spare bed. The room needed a good cleaning though, and dumping out alot of my old stuff I had just stored in there. However as I don't know how big they'll grow I suppose I should think about getting them their own beds. Next payment that comes in I'll see about getting a bunk.
The girls themselves have been very quiet. Which is not surprising. From some things I found out from the museum's curator, they had already spent some time with another person who had cared for them while they were relics and for a short spell while they were children. No wonder they're taking some time opening up to me.
Nuria, the firey one, does seem to be making some progress. I found her watching me brush my hair one morning and was quiet happy when I offered to do her's. She sat on my lap still enough, but her hair was another matter. Not that it was very tangled, but it was rather wild, and positively refused to lay flat. The strands are bright, gleaming red, orange and gold, and bounce around like waving flames as she moves her head. The end of her tail has a tuff of very similar hair too.
Danica is the icy one, and even at this stage I can see she's much colder than her sister, no pun intended. She will watch me for afar but will not attempt to respond to any of my invitations to play or interact. It is rather worrying. I have also noticed a strange shimmering translucency to her skin, almost like the first layer of skin cells contain a faint frosting of ice. Of course this does not go all the way through her as I cannot see any of her internal organs.
Both these details, the hair and the skin, I have added to a profile I am making about each girl. Along with some further details, these have been written in near the front of this journal.
