"Nnnn..." she said, a nasally noise that said she was considering- the aviator's version of an 'mm', "Old ones. I don't like ac-tion. Mys-ter-ies are good. ...You?"

Victor smiled, he was glad to run into someone that shared some of the same interests as him "I enjoy some of the old orginals, mysteries and thrillers, the last movie I saw in the theater that I really liked was Lady in the Water"

She shrugged, and shook her head. "Been here... a long time. Be-fore that, ...lots of ex-pen-sive school. Not seen mo-vie in a long time."
She was surprised that so much had come free during her stilted speech. She was telling this Victor less in quantity of words- but more in 'quality', than she'd told pretty much anyone thus far.

Victor nodded and smiled at the mention of 'expensive school' to Victor it meant grad school, maybe she had been studying for a doctorate in something.
"I was working at a hosptial for an internship though my college before I came here, I was planning on getting a degree in Psychology, what was your area of interest?"

"Chem-ist-ry. I'm a chem-ist." She smiled- again, a slight gesture only managed by the upturn of that bit of her mouth that wasn't overcome with her calcified bill. Victor was someone who would understand the undertaking of all that undergrad and grad school, and the amount of work involved- even if it did all come to nothing, in the end.

Now that Victor was facing Bia he could see the smile that touched the edges of her mouth, it was slight, but even with the large beak that had taken over most of her mouth, it was still there, and for Victor it felt good to know Bia was smiling.
"I remember having to take chemistry as a requirement of my college program, I did alright, but really wasn't for me." Victor smiled, if there was one thing he didn't miss from his time before arriving on the island, it was the chemistry courses he had to take.

"I al-ways liked... the pre-ci-sion of it. Very..." she sighed, a huffing sound through the wide nostrils that were unmovable, thanks to the calcified regime of cells that had bolsted the border. She didn't know why her mind still offered forth such long, now inappropriate words, when it was almost impossible to speak with any semblage of normalcy unless she allowed each syllable to come free with a separate parting of her bill. There was no malleable upper lip to deftly touch with the tip of a tongue to make an 'l' sound... or even lips to press together to make an mm-mm sound of delicious delight. Her wrds were, at best, parrot-like and choppy- and the sigh reflected how she thought about the word her mind had chosen. But there was no other that she could think of, save precise... and she'd already said precision. So Bia Grey just rolled her eyes, and shrugged at herself, then finished her sentence.
"Meth-o-di-cal. ...Sor-ry."

"Its alright" Victor told Bia, he could understand her just fine and he didn't have a problem how she spoke, it wasn't her fault there was a very large beak growing from her face. He was also vaguely aware that he might have a similar problem in the future. "I didn't do so well in chemistry because it was so precise and I was more disorganized with things"

"I ne-ver un-der-stood you peo-ple. Things have a place. You put them there. Ea-sy." She kicked her toes out and buried them in the sand, finding that the day was progressing easier than she'd originally thought it would. The sun was thick and heavy upon her- she didn't know if she liked that yet or not... the bird in her was either laden with a warm, drunken mantle... or it was silent, and indecisive. Either way, Bia found it was both refreshing and unexpected to be able to have the chance to make up her own mind.

Victor shrugged trying to remember back to his chemistry class "Yeah I could understand the basics but having to memorize election orbital spins and intermedate reactions, thats what I had the most trouble with, just all the memorization involved, thats where I had trouble" Victor felt the sun on him and it felt good, just being able to soak it up, made him feel better than he had in a while, but he also knew just being able to talk with someone else helped lift his spirits

She smiled. "I meant more... or-ga-ni-za-tion. I could not be... mess-y." Then, she did something that was completely out of the realm of her conscious control- at least, when she was so at ease and not trying to gain control of herself. She thought she had it... until she lifted her wing and brought it to her beak, as if to pull out a feather or two. It was at her face before she realized what she was doing, and paused, first surprised, and then shocked. Bia dropped the wing... no, she told herself. Arm. My arm. She dropped it into her lap and looked towards the water, surprised and somewhat embarassed.

Victor noticed the odd thing that Bia had done with her arm and her beak, it was strange, and if he knew anything about birds, he would have recognized the preening behaviour, but he didn't, and his tail shift in back of him. "Oh" Victor said and paused, but didn't want the small distraction to ruin things now. His gaze followed Bia's as he looked to the water.
"If there is one thing I'm happy about being here, things seem... less complicated" Victor looked back towards Bia. "I won't have to worry about repaying my student loans, or rent"

"What I would-n't give... for some comp-li-ca-tion." She didn't connect to Victor's eyes again, and although he'd spoken of student loans- something she'd wondered about herself, in her early days of the island... now it was as if Bia Grey, the original, untouched by animal DNA Bia Grey, and untouched by Feral Labs... was years and lifetimes away. She didn't have quite a consuming conscience. Bia was a good person, but she was far too introspective, and possessed of herself to care especially much about the world around her. It was why she had focused herself into a career that would consume her in almost internal pursuits, backroom lab discoveries and methodical work that would then be put to other uses by others with more of a mind for global interaction. Bia couldn't focus on the world around her unless it ate up the world inside her- as Feral Labs had done. That was truly the reason she was here, living with the other islanders. Because it had taken a year- but surely enough, Moreau's world had infringed upon hers, tainting it and throwing Bia into a literal tailspin. She was not sacrificing herself to the fate of the islanders for so much guilt, but rather, the sudden lack of her ability to live within herself. The world beckoned, and it was ugly and frightening. Bia Grey had... recaged herself.

Victor nodded, although he felt that the fact that they were being painfully remade into animalistic versions of their former human selves made his new life and reality on the island complicated enough. But Victor didn't say that. There were many things that he did miss, and just as many that he was glad not to deal with anymore. Victor wasn't sure what to believe with what was going to happen to him, for all he knew it was over for him and there wouldn't be any more changes for him, or at least thats what Victor hoped.
The lizard-man looked towards the ocean, stretching his legs back out and buried his clawed feet in the sand, sitting though what Victor felt was a comfortible silence

"So what... animal?" Bia eased back even further onto what were once hands, almost leveling herself into a straight line.
