Pash sighed and rubbed at his left eye with a free hand. it was irritated and itchy probably from cutting onion for his sandwich. He knew one was supposed to cut them underwater but honestly he was an ex battle angel he shouldn’t be bothered by onion in his eyes , he’d had much worse there before.

In his peripheral vision he noted briefly that Owen had buried himself in the dirt of his pot again. Frowning at the dry looking state of said dirt he resolved to water his child after he finished eating. He doubted anything bad would happen to the life bearing leaf in the next twenty minutes or so. Besides it wasn’t like he had anything else to do to distract him from the task.

Oracle looked down into her pool. She had been slowly wasting away hidden in her garden. The crystal eyed goddess watched as a new Guardian's image appeared in the water. Her emotions had been returning as she died so by now she was rather bored. But today was a depressed day and she felt sorry for this stranger so she only tugged lightly on his reality, giving him a simple death. It would hopefully not be too drawn out. That'd take a lot of her lifeforce to do.

Pash leaned against the marble counter top and took a bite of his sandwich. From the moment the food entered his mouth he knew he had a problem. The itching from earlier wasn’t onion it was a warning, a warning of a food allergy. He knew humans had them and could die from them. Until now however he’d had no clue angels were susceptible as well.

As the hot sweet mustard was tasted his mouth burned and the lining of his throat began to swell. Sea green eyes went wide and he stumbled towards the phone. It was too late his vision was becoming a cloudy grey, he’d never make it to help in time. Heart pounding a mile a minute and thudding so loud he thought his ears drums would burst Pash was at a loss.

Why was this happening why did his bosses not save him. More importantly he thought as he slid to the floor unable to stand who would care for Owen. Darkness claimed the angel and with one last feeble yet frantic beat his life of his heart Pash's life was over
): Oracle was really really losing her touch. Usually they felt nothing at all and it was in one instant. But oh well. Not that it mattered. He'd be back soon enough.

Pash was now laying upon a road. A highway to be exact. He lay upon the yellow divider lines that separated the lanes. A voice spoke from somewhere around his feet, soft and emotionless but still audible over the moving cars and trucks. "Come sit down." were the words. When he sat up he'd be able to see her, cherry red hair and mullethawk being the only part of her head visible over the magazine she was reading. She sat at a coffee table on a cushion and there was a cushion near to Pash that was empty. There was also a plate of what looked like chocolate mini muffins on that table and a cup of something that

Pash just stared at his surroundings confused, he was positive he was dead but this was not where he was supposed to be. He was an angel damnit. should they die they had a special peice of heaven just for themselves He should be seeing relatives long past not automobiles and strange woman. " Where am I?" He inquired.

You're not dead, angel, don't worry." she said calmly. There was a slight tone this time which was good. Oracle was losing her power over Kendra as well. "You're in a realm belonging to a foreign deity. I'm supposed to explain something to you. Have a bite to eat. The quicker we get this done the quicker you can get back home to Owen."

"I am decidedly not hungry" Pash said with a smile, good he was still alive and Owen was not abandoned. He had no clue why anyone from another realm wanted his attention but the least he could do was listen. " Please say what you need to." While he waited his fingered his olive coloured hair out of nervous habit.

"It's not a matter of hunger. You have to eat that food to be able to return to the other realm. Some sort of strange rule the one in charge of this setup has. You only have to take a crumb of it." the woman explained, placing down her magazine to look at him.

She had a thin lovely face, a long nose, and large blue eyes. The woman would have probably been rather pretty in her youth, and without the strange hairstyle.

"Well you see the deity who summoned you here is the last good deity from a universe called Tison. There were once many deities in this world who kept it peaceful and while they were in power it thrived. However one of them became a bit too power hungry and tainted. He discovered a way to kill the others and did so, thereby taking over. The only reason he didn't kill Oracle as well is because she went into seclusion in a secret place 2000 years before he was born."

"Ever since then he's been controling Tison. He started enforcing rules their that aren't doing the people much good. It isn't horrible yet but things are getting worse. Oracle predicted that if it kept going on he'd destroy Tison were he not stopped."

Pash listened having picked up a muffin about halfway through. He was nibbling on it while taking this all in. The pretty red head before him had an interesting story to tell. " This diety wants what of me then, to fight, i have the experience but my power is greatly less than it once was."

"No. The fighting will be left up to others." she said, with a smile. He was definately nicer then some of the others she'd had to deal with. "What Oracle predicted needed to be done was that the previous deities that had been murdered had to be reborn and raised somewhere safely so they could return and save their world."

"To do that they need to be cared for by guardians. Different people on gaia were deemed to be the perfect choices to guard the reborn deities. The evil deity cannot get to gaia and has no power there so the children would be safe being cared for there. So Oracle has been watching her pool and when the guardian's and spirits were both physically aligned correctly she used some of her lifeforce to pull on the reality of the guardian and kill them so that they could touch the realm of the spirit and they could bring the deity's soul out with them. You are a guardian. More precisely you were chosen to be the guardian of the deity of Light and Time."

Pash shook his head, this was bad this was really really bad. he'd failed his last attempt at being a guardian. he'd ruined a young woman’s life in the process of copying over a few files. how could anyone think intrusting diety into his care was a good idea?

"I'm not sure your oracle has chosen to right person" he said looking down. Oh to be sure he'd care for Owen and raise him the best he could but that was different. Owen wasn't destined to anything great and he'd seen that the leaf children could be rehomed, if he failed Owen would not suffer.

"Oracle didn't choose. She has a magic pool and tree system thing that I don't quite understand that chooses. For some reason it thinks you're the right person for the job. You will have help though dont worry. When you wake up from this you will be on a ship that is nearing to gaia and your home. The crew of that ship-especially the captain-shall see to it that you have help in this matter."

Blowing at his bangs Pash nodded " I'll do everything I can to raise to child right then." he wondered what a child of light and time would be like.

"She will be a doll. I met her in her past life." the woman said with a smile. "You may wake up now." And with a wave of her hand a wind blew him and he awoke in a bed on the Samadueanna. Kendra liked him-for he was nice-too much to have a truck crash into him. She'd be nice this time.

Standing at the foot of his bed with a friendly smile on her face was a young woman. One who looked quite a lot like a younger version of Kendra. She had short blonde hair in a pageboy bob cut. And she had the same large blue eyes and that facial shape. But instead she had a button nose and bright rosey cheeks. "Glad to see you awake." she said cheerfully. "Welcome to the Samadueanna."

: Pash shook his head again, things kept getting wierder and weirder at least he'd expected this. " I'm not sure if I'm happy to be here or not , how far are we from gaia?" How far away was he from Owen a defenseless little leaf left unattended. Stretching in the bed he slowly too in this new woman " Are you one of the ones supposed to help me then?"

"Not too far. We're getting used to people appearing here and needing to go to Gaia so we started a course for your home as soon as your records appeared on our computers. And yes I am. I am Rouge Remika, captain of this ship."

" A pleasure Rouge, as you probably already know I'm Pash." feeling more friendly by the minute he extended his hand.

"Yes I have heard." she said kindly and shook his hand. "I trust by your mood that the spirit who informs people that they will be guarding the Tison deities when they're reborn didn't give you much trouble. Others have come through here in a slightly irked mood and blamed it on her though I'm not sure if it was completely her fault." The young woman seemed to have the same quality as the redhead of explaining things but sometimes going off into stories in the middle. She was a bit spacey it seemed. Which was good for a space pirate.

In the process of his stretching Pash looked down and noted that there was a necklace on him. He did not where necklaces and even if he did they certianly wouldn't have empty hourglasses on them. He supposed that this was another child fated to appear from an object. at least she wouldn’t try to jump into his spaghetti sauce.

Fingering the object he replied " Mm yes she was nice enough though she was red haired and they do say red heads have bad tempers."

"Red haired? Well that's odd. I don't know of any redhaired spirits that work for Oracle. What'd she look like?" the woman asked. She was good with identifying spirits and who they worked for. Maybe his description would clue her in. It was worth a shot. No one else had told her about what the spirit looked like at all except that it was a she. It made her more curious about the woman.

He looked up , it was rude not to speak directly to someone, as he tried to think of a way to describe the spirit he noticed a few things " Like you a bit, but with red hair in an odd style. your eyes are the same hue exactly and your faces are similar though hers is wheatherd and older looking."

Rouge's eyes shot open. She knew exactly who he was talking about the moment he mentioned her eyes. "You saw..........my mother........" she said softly, backing to the other end of the room and sitting down. Putting her head in her hands the woman tried to compose herself. That explained why Shira had stopped talking when it came to the spirit. Kendra had probably asked the girl not to tell Rouge who it was, knowing how she'd react. The blonde looked back up at Pash, blinking away tears. "Thank you for telling me."

Instantly the angel was on his feet and across the room. He had not intended his informationto cuase such a reaction. It hadn't crossed his mind that the two were related, genetics were so different for his kind. He laid a hand on her shoulder " I'm sorry to have upset you, do you.. were you worrying about her?"

"No. It's all right. I just haven't heard of her in so long. My mother...she died when I was a small child. She was the only family I had as my father had vanished before I was born. I figured she'd be long since resting in peace but apperently she's not." the woman wiped her eyes and tried to smile. "I realize why she probably upset some of the others though.

My mother did not like being confined and a job like that would be torture for her." she laughed a little at that. She had fond memories of her mother, though they were few.

Pash nodded feeling sympathetic for the woman. " Well at least she enjoys tormenting some of the guardians. I'm sure her job pleases her in some way or another.

A noise went over a slight speaker system overhead. "Destination arrived." it said.

"Oh! We're here. Come with me I'll show you to the transporter room. You can go right back home and take care of Owen." she said with a smile and lead the way to the room, beaming him back down to the leaf child.

And with that yet another relic had been given to its guardian.

A rose by any other name

Anao what an odd name and as far as Pash knew it was one with no actual meaning. Still it had been what Owen had chosen and he had to honour that. In his family the child born previous the newest chose their sibling’s name. It connected family members and helped to keep older kids from feeling that they had nothing to do while their parents was pregnant and. A name choser got just as much attention as the person having the baby as both were important to the process as it was believed that the name one was given could help seal their fate.

The naming process itself had been pretty short and sample. Pash has repeated the alphabet and added a letter to the name each time Owen wriggled.

Fingering the gold and glass hourglass Pash smiled a bit at the reflection of himself in it. “ Well little Anao I’m not sure what’s in store for you but let’s hope your brother has chosen a good name?”

Parenting

Pash knew he needed a nursery, he had since he’d gotten Owen but he’d been putting it off because really what did he know about making a nursery. however now faced with the issues of having more than one child on the way he needed to get his as in gear. They’d have to share a room because he had only a two bedroom little house and he really couldn’t afford to move.

Thus he’d have to make the room suitable for both while still keeping it spacious and without going over budget. Elle gave him a small allowance for helping her out with things and he was currently unemployed and not getting too much of an unemployment check. Apparently they only started paying a baby bonus after said expected child was born.

Four hours later found the man hip deep in boxes and bags the room looked like horrible so far but hopefully by the end of the night things would be different. The children to be had needed many things : a changing table, cribs, dressers, blankets, pillows, baby books. He’d left things like bottles, bibs and baby cleaning products for when they were born, then he could ask doctors.

Opening a box containing a dissembled crib he let a small smile creep onto his face. Somehow this act of creating a nursery made it all just a bit more real. One look at the instructions and it hit him all at once. Parenting was not going to be easy.

Dreaming the past and the future

Pash stared at the orange pot on his night table and shook his head. Owen had disappeared again. Well not exactly disappeared, the leaf he was sure was buried once again within the rich black soil. For some reason whatever Owen was like to burrow while it slept. Originally He had done this during the day but the leaf spirit seemed to have adjusted to Pash’s daytime schedule.

Assured that Owen was settled for the night Pash prepared for bed. He stripped off his shirt making note that the sweat smelling garment was not going to be usable again until it was washed. on occasion a shirt of pair of pants could be worn more then once a week but today’s moving of furniture and the sweat caused by the exertion made that impossible.

Pants and boxers slid over his hips and to the floor. It was perhaps not the wisest idea to sleep naked but it had been a habit of Pash’s for years. Besides more then one night time intruder had been shocked to find a naked man charging him with a sword, their shock had made them easy to get an edge on.

Pulling back the covers on the bed he sent up a swift and routine prayer, it was longer then when he had first arrived now including requests of safety for Owen and Anao but all in it wasn’t much changed. Sliding under the covers Pash reached over and turned off the lamp on the bedside table. He closed his eyes and wait for sleep to take him.

When that sleep did take him there was a strange tugging on his soul. As if he were being drawn from his body in his dreams. But when he rose and stood above his sleeping form as a soul-the necklace still around his neck as the soul of the child, which had taken the form of the jewelry, was so closely bonded to him-he could see that he was still asleep and just dreaming. A strange tug on his mind caused him to turn, looking at the wall. A white door had appeared there as ghostly as he is. Something beckoned him to open it.

Pash was to say the least more than a little disturbed by this strange dream. He found it very disconcerting to be able to see himself lying in bed breathing faintly as though he were near death or unconscious. He reached up to grasp the hourglass pendant that was part of this dream self if his. it felt solid to him. “ This is your doing isn’t it” he murmured. it certainly wasn’t Owen’s surely Tek or raven would have warned him if this was normal for the leaf children. besides there wasn’t a hint of any stirring from Owen’s pot.

As his sea green eyes spotted the white door he felt compelled to open it. Pash didn’t like being controlled or directed but who was he to argue with this unarguably much more powerful higher being who was using him. He walked forward and reached for the handle of the door.

When it opened he was shown a high ceililnged room with lovely carpets, a long table used for great feasts and many tables and chairs. After Pash passed through the doorway and into the room the door vanished leaving just the wall of the room. It was rather unnerving especially with what he saw at the table.

There were no living beings in the room but one. Half of her body was in a hair-puffy multi-colored pants, ankle bracelets, and bare feet, as if she'd been seated before she feel. The other half-her upper torso, wearing a shirt that matched her pants, and a strange joker like hat which matched them as well-was upon the floor, arms spread out. As if she'd half fallen out of her seat completely limp but was pushed too far against the table to completely fall out of it.

The door disappearing behind him did not please Pash in the slightest. He was somewhat awed by the room, it’s colours and contents were bright and beautiful

His attention however was soon turned upon the strange woman at the table. in three hundred years Pash had seen a lot of odd things. This woman sprawled in the chair and on the ground was not by any means the oddest. She was however the most perplexing. Who was she and why was she there?

He took a few steps forward to get a closer look “ Are you ok?” he asked unsure of if the woman could here him and if she could or would awnser.

When he got there he saw a sad sight. The woman's face was painted with multiple colors-she was probably a bit of a jester-and a necklace with an hourglass was around her neck. The edges of her lips were red which differed from her gold lipstick. She was dead, which was especially obvious by the fact that the sand in the hourglass round her neck had run out. She had died in some way-most likely from position poisen. She had never known she would die.

It was very sad. This strange woman however, had another one of those strange drawing sensations. As if he were being pulled towards her. Why though? The nearer he got the stronger the tug. The hourglass around his neck and her body had a flickering glow around them as he neared towards the two.
ladyumbra666 (1:13:36 AM): Nothing no breathing no sign of consciousness and as Pash approached he knew win his heart the woman was gone. He surveyed the scene was this why he had had the allergy? To make him feel sympathetic in a way or to help him understand what had happened. He shook his head it was a pity she was strange and beautiful and must have been so very full of life.

Again he felt the compulsion to move, as he did so he saw his reflection in a glass on the table and noted that at the very least this poor woman had not had to be shocked by seeing him with no clothes. He had forgotten his state of undress in his curiosity.

Keen eyed he’s already noted the similar looking hourglasses when it and her body to glow he had a feeling that he understood what was going on. he was seeing the past, well Anao’s past anyways. Still he wasn’t certain about everything that was happening.

Something inside him told him he should touch the body. Whether by sitting her up or putting her all the way on the floor. It was probably rather embarassing to have one's body laying half in a chair when dead. She deserved a bit more then that.

Pash had never been good with corpses and he doubted that a glowing one was going to make him feel better about touching one. Still to be dead and left like this was cruel , she deserved something better, she was a goddess. As he slid the body to the floor to lay to rest he wondered how one poisoned a goddess, particularly one who controlled time.

But he didn't have to worry about that for long. When he lay her down on the floor his hand brushed hers. And with that the body of the goddess and the relic around his neck began to completely glow white. The necklace-as if it were made of light-shot from around his neck and into the shrinking glow of the goddess. And when all was said and done the glowing stopped revealing a sleeping baby girl with black hair that curled under her slightly pointy ears.

Pash had tried to grab for the relic when it left him and so his hand was still outstretched when all was said and done. Slowly he retracted it and stared at the infant. She was so innocent and fragile looking, he prayed he could protect her from such a fate in the future. " Owen's never going to forgive you for growing up first" he teased reaching for Anao.

The little girl would never really understand what he meant. She was asleep the whole time. As he picked her up the door reappeared, allowing him to go back to his bed. And there was his body with a small baby girl curled up under the covers by his side where the relic had slid off his chest. He was allowed to lay back down in his body and wake up rested. Now he could do something about this baby.

Babies hate everything

Pash had rather quickly come to the conclusion that babies or at least Anao hated everything. She hated her blanket, her push blocks and her excersaucer but she hated being bored. She loathed her formulas and baby foods ( this was made clear by spitting them up rather frequently despite being healthy according to a doctor) but she wanted to eat. She hated the t.v and the radio but she hated it being too quiet. She hated him and Owen and the birds outside but she didn't want to be alone.

She was in short, driving Pash insane, a short congratulatory message from his parents had been a welcome distraction until the letter had flat out stated that all babies were different and that they hoped he had as much fun figuring out what did and didn't work with her as they did with him. Pash had then fervently prayed that Owen either stayed leaf for a while or was at least easier to deal with when he emerged.

Two hours, some hair pulling, one nearly unpotted sibling and a broken jar of baby food later found Pash kneeling beside the tub watching in amazement as Anao splashed about happy as a clam. She built bubble castles and floated duckies and frogs into them all the while held safely in place by some sort of baby bath harness thing.

On occasion he could reach over with a cloth and scrub her to make sure she got clean but for the most part he was content to let her be content. He knew he couldn't let her bathe forever but maybe he could get some of that soothing baby Bath wash to help make her calm when she was out of the tub. one way or another he was proud of himself for finding the secret to a happy Anao.

Dear diary:

Anao is teething, this is unfortunately not something a bath even with the special wash will help. There's this Oragel stuff that numbs her gums for a bit but it's not good to give it to them 24/7. I know it's a normal part of growing up but it pains me to see and hear her in pain. I bought her a teething ring and she gnaws on it to no end but it doesn't help for long and she just flings it away.

Please let this be done soon please.

Growing pains

Owen was a typical toddler , he was curious about everything and being a bunny he explored everything with his nose and mouth. Nothing was safe from beign sniffed and nibbled or sucked upon and this included Anao.

Amber eyes stared complacently into chocolaty brown ones. Anao had become used to her larger sibling's way of showing interest in her, besides he never hurt her and it was only bad when her hands got slimy. It wasn't like she could really move far or fast enough to get away from him anyways. She was stuck in a playpen that he could get in and out of but she couldn't.

All was going fine until Anao felt something sharp and unpleasant. It didn't come from her chew happy brother though but from inside her own mouth. It hurt oh how it hurt and Anao did not like the pain. Pain was bad and not happy and she just wanted to be happy why couldn't the pain go away. At her tender age Anao didn't understand teething or that it was a sign of her aging. All she knew was that it was painful and she wanted it to stop.

The pain increased momentarily and Anao's whimpers became a wail. At the loud noise Owen bolted in fear to cower behind the couch peeking concernedly over at his pained sibling.

Pash brought early from his shower by the sound was dripping wet and cloaked in only a bathrobe. He strode across the plushy beige carpet towards his penned up daughter in an attempt to figure out what was wrong.

Anao saw none of this though, she was lost within time for a moment. Still in the present but warping herself to the future, not that she knew it. Her desire to be rid of the pain had increased it and it had lanced through her but what would have been months of teething became only a minute as the girl's latent abilities aged her through the process.

Suddenly things were different than before, some objects seemed larger to Anao's and others smaller. Her mind seemed to have expanded and her thoughts became just a bit more linear and complex. It would take time for her to adjust to this and she had phased out for the moment sitting on the floor of her playpen dazed looking while reflexively testing her improved motor skills.

Pash stared at his newly6 grown daughter in shock, children were supposed to just grow like that, it was just wrong. Then again Owen had pretty much burst froth from a leaf so he couldn't really judge. Still it was a bit unsettling to see his baby turn into a toddler before his very eyes. After a quick visual once over he left the living room to dry and dress himself. When he returned he'd see if he could get Anao to talk to him and explain exactly how that had happened ( though he doubted that was possible) and why she had been crying.

Owen eyed his sister warily, she had changed she was bigger close to his size now. Her red hair was a bit longer and her face seemed different sort of less smooshy but that wasn't bad. Still he was content to stroke his ears and watch from his sheltered position until he was sure she hadn't changed into something bad.

Licorice

Pash didn't know what it was about licorice that pleased Anao and Pash so much. He could never tell if it was the smell, colour, taste or texture of the stuff .that drew them to it. He was clueless as to why they loved it and even more so why they played with it before eating it.

It wasn't even normal play either, there was no peeling of it , infact thy seemed offended by the pull and peel stuff. They didn't lick it or suck or it or play tug of war with it. For some reason known only to them they drank with it. All day one piece of licorice would be toted about and then plopped into a cup and away they would go drinking , juice milk and the odd pop with it.

Then at some magically determined time they would eat the stick.

It wasn't often this happened as Pash refused to let them eat junk a lot but each time the treat was given the same strange behavior occurred and Pash was unable to figure out why.

He supposed that it wasn't really a problem just a strange quirk they siblings shared.

Of course despite being as unrelated as possible the two shared many a strange quirk
