Gone with the Wind is a good movie and it was in the 30's...

I never said old movies are bad. That wasn't what i was intending at all xp Trust me I am an old movie geek. I was talking about special effects. Gone with the Wind did not use many special effects. The effects in Superman the Movie basically suck. I.E. the Super Speed, that Clark uses in the beginning.

It was good for its time. You have to remember that movies based on comics were expected to be cheesy back in the seventies; it was almost taboo to attempt something serious. Superman: The Movie is actually generally a serious take on the subject, although it has its cringe-worthy moments (Lois' recital of bad poetry springs to mind, and Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor).
As the film goes, I'd say the first two "acts" are very strong, it's just the last third of the movie that deals with Lex's plot that's a bit weak. I'm sure I look at it through rose-tinted glasses from my childhood, though.

as in being a genuine Superman reference...not here. On another site i was talking to someone about superman and they kept using the movies as a source in a comic discussion.

Ok.....It was still a pretty cheesy movie. I guess there were some good scenes though. It's just that all it was was innocent people in danger, evil villan that wants to control the world, superman saves everyone, and happily every after....

Apparently my DVR thought the episode with Bart Allen (the Flash) in it was a new episode and it recorded it. So I go to see it again, which is good, because aside from Clark, Bart is my favorite Smallville hero. blaugh
I loved how Clark was reading off his I.D.s and was all "Jay Garett, Barry Allen, Wally West, Bart Allen... Just who are you?" Or something to that extent. (To those of you who don't read the comics... All those names were different Flashs.)

The only thing i didn't like about the whole I.D aspects was that then you are basically disregarding the other flashes as being fake and just "made up" characters for Bart's dirty deeds. That is what i didn't like about that.
