"Tell that to that octopus, not me." Alan looked at her, annoyed. "A smart young lady like yourself should know not to believe everything in the papers."
Once again, he began to rub his now pointed ears. "So...then how did you get on this rock?"

Colette smiled at his comment about Billy. "A drug is a drug," she repiled and crossed her arms. "No matter what the papers say.. They've been known to lie about just what is and is not a drug....... And I got here because I found out about here. On a job.."

"A job." In his still hazy state, Alan accepted Colette's reply without any further inquiry. "I was brought here on a helicopter and told it was a exclusive resort." He laughed weakly, pointing to his ears. "A resort? Ha..."
Alan looked out into the ocean. "I don't know why they picked me. I mean, I'm ALAN MURROW."

"Duh.. Same question on everyone's mind.. Well. They did it to me to shut me up.." She sighed and shook her head. "It seems random.... But the form seems to be the same.. Get tricked into coming here and then volia.. Animal people the next day.... And tecnically you could still call it a resort. I mean, it is set up a bit like that." Colette frowned and then shook out her fur to get some sand out of it.

"Yes," Alan laughed bitterly. "The resort from hell."
There were a few seconds of silence as Alan finished off his soda. "So..." he began, the last affects of the Vicodin finally wearing off. "If it isn't too much to ask, why were you bothering me in New York?"

"It was a job," Colette repiled as she grabbed another bottle of Oragina and then popped it open. "Simple as that." She sighed and then pushed her glasses back into place. Colette found herself unable to wear contacts for she couldn't put them in her eyes anymore.

"I see," Alan said, looking back out over the ocean. The sun had almost set now, the last sliver of orange barely over the broken ocean. Now that the last vestiges of his Vicodin journey were wearing off, the dull thud of pain was reappearing across his body. He felt the muscles in his newly expanded calfs becoming tighter...tighter...
Alan pitched forward suddenly, grabbing his left calf, falling quickly towards the floor again. "s**t!" he shouted out.

"Ah!.. What is it?" Colette asked as a slightly alarmed look formed on her face as she walked over to him and kenlt down. "...Oh snap..... You're changing... Aren't you?" She knew the feeling all too well as a slightly helpless look formed on her face.

Alan stayed huddled over as he held his calf in charleyhorse. Although the changes that had occured a few hours earlier still ached dully, it was really the cramp in his new "legs" that were giving him his current pain.
He ignored Colette, instead reaching in his pocket to grab the unmarked bottle of Vicodin for another dose. "Water...please," he said rasply.

She sighed and then stood back up. Colette walked over to the sink and then filled a glass up with water. She shook her head as she walked over and handed the glass to him. "Here," Colette said, a frown on her face.

Alan reached up as Colette handed him the water, grabbing it for a few seconds before losing his grip on the slippery surface. The glass fell to the concrete floor, shattering right in Alan's face. The shards spread across the floor between the two islanders, one piece cutting Alan's cheek.
"Ahh!" Alan yelled, dropping his unmarked vial and spreading the tablets across the floor.

Colette cursed as the glass got in her fur and she quickly looked over him to see what had happened to him. "Are you all right?" she asked, leaving the pills on the floor.

Alan held his face, blooding dripping down his arm from the cut on his cheek. "No, the pills!" he said, reaching out. "The pills!"

Colette sighed and shook her head. "Look.. You don't want those pills after they've hit the ground. You can't wash them off and who knows what kind of things are the the sand here," she said as she grabbed his wrist.
