Despite his uncomfort in being so thouroughly examined, Uzulu managed to remain indifferent to the situation. Show respect, but give no weakness, the old code of his family. There were secrets for dealing with royalty, but there were none for befriending the Firekin.

Uzulu nodded at the kings words. They were true, and so far, it seemed Kaanga had told him only what was necessary. Perhaps he wasn't too far off in trusting her, afterall. He bit back the old phrase, 'Once a Firekin, always a Firekin.' He doubted it would impress the king much, though he would keep his answer short. He took it the king didn't like drawling on of unneeded information. There would be no, 'as you know's in this speech.

"Yes. Fear." It was an honest enough answer. He had fled, not unlike several other of the Firekin, but still he had run. In his family running was scorned about, even a sign of being disowned, but they had never seen the plague before. So he had run. His family's blood ran in his veins. The last of it. It was up to him to carry it on. "The plague annhialated all of my family, and if I had not left, possibly the last strains of our blood. I did not know how long the black disease lingered, but I gave it many, many years for fear it would stay strong even long after I'd left. No rumors or tales came to me where I rested, so far I fled. I simply came to the calling to return home that possesses a Firekin. I could withstand it no longer."

Kaanga hushed herself, listening to Uzulu’s words with wide gold eyes. She was sold- quite completely by now thanks to a little gentry and some class. Behind Kimeti she fidgetted, peering out at him from behind her. So far she thought his story grand. Surely he was a worthy enough firekin if there ever was one. But would that be the end of his attentions towards her? Shyly, she flattened her ears and pursed her lips. She supposed she could not be too eager. With all the blood so thin, he was sure to have plenty of female company in no time-

Kimeti studied Uzulu as he spoke. The words rolled about in the Kings mind as he digested each one. He, as a mere cub had faced the plague head on. Well, at that point in his life he had no choice. Mother had opted to stay in the desert so naturally all of he and his siblings stayed as well. They were far too young at that point to venture off on their own. Now, shoul dhe have been old enough, the thought of running would probably have crossed his mind, but he was unsure if he actually would have. That was something that was never tested and would hopefully never be put to the test.

"Running from the unknown." The murmered. "Not quite the most brave of things to do but you were not the only one to retreat from the unknown plague that swept over the pride so there's justification for me to deny you entry back into the pride. You are welcome to find a cave to call your own within the rocky outcropping here. There are not as many as when I took the throne but there are still a few more that would probably suit your needs. You are also welcome to share the large pridal den should you wish."

It was so sudden an acceptance that Uzulu almost didn't hear it. When the worlds did finally sink in, however, he bowed his head respectfully. It was kind of the king to let him back after so long. It was, afterall, Kimeti's land.

He waited for the King to look away briefly and he flashed a grin towards Kwana. He was here to stay. At first he thought it best to stay in the pridal den, until he became well acquainted. It wouldn't hurt to know some people. From there, a cave was something he'd wished for many long years.

"Thank You, lord." He coiled his tail to contain his exhalted emotions, and turned to go, finding that Kimeti would probably have no more of him.

Kaanga made an eager little squeak and came back to life, her wide yellow eyes glittering. She turned, crossing around her father as Uzulu moved to go. With the other male mostly not looking, she rubbed herself against her father once more. She had never doubted Kimeti could not have seen how clever this one was! And for the moment- she had all but forgotten her previous woes.

With a bob of her head, she started off after Uzulu, giving her father one last excited look. About halfway down she started stumbling, but caught herself back up with the newly accepted firekin, and started to ramble a bountiful series of thought trails.
