Let's see. My parents do limits when they can. They usually fail within a week or month. I've been told I can't go on the computer before 5, can't stay on later than 8, no computer on weekdays, no TV on weekdays, computer only on Saturday "Play all you want day", no staying up past midnight on Saturday, no instant messengers, no chatting with strangers, etc.
All currently busted. They're trying the no computer after 9 thing again now.
I've never had a unrestricted bedtime Lou, so I envy you. XD I'm usually playing my DS after 'bed time' anyways.
It was really amazing when they did the no chat messengers really. They disabled AIM, MSN, ICQ, Yahoo... But not IRC. :3 So I'd drag all my friends on IRC and chat there.
They've also banned websites I've been on for long periods of time. I used to stay up from 10 AM till 6 AM during the SUMMER on Neopets and Habbo. They blocked those from my interenet, I'd move on and find a substitute. (Coke Music and EXEHQ) Then they'd give up.
Courtney - Shame on you. I get A's, and I'm on the comptuer from 3 to 10 without any problems.

buzzkid24 MAN, sorry to hear that, parents are so silly some times. You should just let them do whatever, and then when you're not online, just sit around sulking, and then they'll feel bad. That's what I did the week they took away my laptop XD. COURTNEY-- So you're telling me that the first time your parents told you that you were only allowed 2 hours on the computer you were like "YAY LIMITS ROCK!!!"... Unless it's been the same things since your family got the computer. If my parents tried to tell me I was only allowed 2 hours, I would honestly laugh in the face. Then say "OK, 2 hours on each of my computers, that is 4 hours total. So why don't I just spend 4 hours on the desktop instead? After that I'll just go to my room, and then, well, I need to have the laptop on, otherwise I wouldn't know what time it is, and since it has wireless, I'll be on the internet. So really what's the point of only allowing me 4 hours on each of them, if the internet will always be on?"... sending them into a deep state of confusion, causing them to give up the argument ^^ » [M]y Mom Would Probably Tell Me To Pray When I Sulk Around. ... Or She'll Force Me To Clean The House.// D; (I'm Sneaking On. 0:18am) [♥ ♥ ♥]

my parents used to try to threaten to limit me to 30 minutes a day.
but that was only when i got in trouble or if i didnt do anything.
they started making me eat at the table instead of in my room. kasjfd;lkjaslfdkj. it's stupid.
i'm not supposed to be on the phone or computer past 9:30 on school nights. and the sad part is, i usually listen to them. ]:

xd I have never in my life been allowed to eat dinner in my room. Or the tv room. Or the living room. Or any room except the dining room. Unless it was a time when neither of my parents were home for dinner, which isnt that often. If you dont eat with the family in my house you dont eat at all.
I was never into the internet enough for my parents to take it away until after I started college, and they couldnt take it away then because they didnt live with me. If I ever was failing in school though I would lose tv/video games.

The last time my parents tried to take away my internet, I casually reminded them that that would mean I couldn't do my schoolwork. ... it worked.
But before that.. I threatened to burn her entire Dr. Phil collection, not go to school for three months, destroy the keyboard for her computer, hack and master lock the other Mac that she uses... ... I'm evil. ^^

My parents did that as well.
While this may not work for all of you, I'm thinking it will for most of you.
If you just ask your parents why they are taking away/limiting your ocmputer/internet useage CALMLY.
Figure out why, and if it's because they're worried you're going to get ***** or something, or because you are not being social enough, or conspiring against them, show your parents around the sites you go to. Introduce your parents to your friends on IM or Skype.
If you can prove to your parents that what you are doing is safe and your parents aren't completely dimwitted, they will not only take pride in the fact that you let them see your world(because usually they think you're on myspace being raped, and they just worry about you) they will probably begin to trust you more if you tell them what you are doing.
A lot of mistrust comes from miscommunication, or no communication at all. While you can win by locking yourself up it takes longer and doesn't get you any brownie points for christmas and money on those computer games you want. Plus, your parents will likely not trust any 'important' decisions you may wish to make in the future (Such as... college. They're paying big bucks for it 90% of the time and you're not).
Anyway.
What I'm saying is, if you honestly are not doing anything bad, just show your parents what you're up to. Explain what you do. Like "This is Gaia, this is what I basically do every day. These are my friends.." etc. etc.
If you're so afraid about it you can tell your friends in advance and be all "act super normal" or something.
Hell, if your parents are really in on you learning, you could explain the benefits of being on gaia because of it's economy. You learn how the exchange works, and when to buy, sell, and trade. It sounds corny, but you ocul dsay you are learning good money responsibility and management, as well as some really cool exchange abilities. I mean. If it were not for gaia, I would be a hell of a lot pooer than I am now, as stupid as it sounds. =3
And if you're afraid fo the phone... Get over it. If you can use skype you can use the phone. And if your parents are willing to pay for your cellphone bill and a new cellphone, TAKE IT. Just chat with your internet friends on the phone.
Or, if you're still stupidly worrying about it... It's called text messaging, and it's included in a lot of plans these days. >_>
Also, if you want a job/career/future in something computer related, a big selling point for me with my parents was editing. I've made AMVs since 2001, and I am now in college for Digital Video Production.
I convinced my parents that through my hobby - for which I needed ot be on the computer for hours at a time to achieve - I would be able to perfect what I wanted to do with my life, and it would help me with my career choice.
It was true, is true, and not only did it allow me more wiggle room for computer time, but it also warranted me a lot of nice computer/AMV related presents. Like a Capture card, DVD-Rom, DVD burner. That kind of stuff.
Hell, it even got me financial help for my new beast of a computer(to help with rendering times razz )
Anyway. Just be more open-minded and accept that for the most part your parents are just worried about you either being raped, or a shut-in, anti-social nutcase.
LET THEM IN YOUR LIFE.
You may think it's worthless, but I'll be the first to admit my parents are total ******** and I hate them 90% of the time. But telling them everything about my life has given me more pros than cons.

My parents say I should go outside more, and hang out with friends more then play on the computer. But what happens when most of your friends are gone, and you don't like the outside.Because of the people you don't like there.Where I live just ain't fun.
