Shade in the Shadow I can't stand Slayer. Hands down one of the most over-rated bands, ever. ...not really.... Slayer is not overrated.... Post-Cliff Metallica is though.. Slayer is an awesome band but not the best... theyre hella not Cannibal Corpse... but theyre still on my top 5 metal bands of all time... Fav songs are... Cult, Raining Blood...hell the whole Reign in Blood album was good.... Christ Illusions was a great new album to... they go back to the old stuff rather than Metallica goin to stay into new stuff... Metallica changed... theyre no fun anymore....Metallicas lyrics are to meaningful...Slayers lyrics are just rambling hate onto random stuff... yay random

1. Metallica/Megadeth
2. The one that doesn't win 1.
A distant 3. Slayer

Well, Slayer -IS- over-rated. Whether you'd like to admit or not. They're not very talented at all and they have not made a good album since...Nevermind, I just contradicted myself. Slayer and a good album.
Yeah, I kind of agree about the big four, except it goes for me Megadeth, Anthrax, Metallica, Slayer. Because Anthrax owns.

I myself love Slayer, but they're definatly not the best metal band. Try listening to some Death Angel or something.

The mere concept of crowning a "best metal band ever" seems like a quixotic and self-defeating endeavor to me. Sure, there are good bands, there are bad bands, and then there are jaw-droppingly awesome bands. BandS. Plural. If you asked me to choose my favorite, I simply couldn't. But getting back to the topic at hand...I care little for Slayer. Methinks the only reason they're so famous is purely for the shock value of their image and lyrical content. It's certainly not because of their musical "talent." rolleyes

I have just one question to ask? Why do you think Slayer is Over-rated? I just can't grasp the concept of Slayer being over-rated.
Oh and why do you think Metallica is better than Slayer? Is Slayer to much metal for your ears? Can you not take the Perfect distortion from Kerry Kings guitar. Are you too senstive? I think you are.
Cause we all know that the only Thrash metal Albums from Metallica were the first 3. The others were Hard Rock and St. Anger was, infact, Nu-metal. Therefore whoever should mention of Post-Cliff Metallica should have their post deleted. Unless it is to state the facts wich I have today.

Well, to answer Cannibalistic's question, theyre overrated becasue after a while, it all molds together, and al their songs sound the same, especially the entire Reign in Blood album, Im not saying thats a bad album, on the contrary, its an amazing piece of work, and masterfully done, but after a while, it starts sounding like one giant song that drones on and on, and just about all other albums after that are like that. So i dont see anything good about Slayer beyond Reign in Blood, thats why.
