Kat smiled and took his advice and looked around. So much greener here, warmer here. She could see prey in the distance, which meant food was plentiful here. Perhaps she had made a good choice with coming this way, coming across Ai.
She probably wouldn't mistake him for another. Ai was unique, least in her eyes. He was small but so mature for his age, he made her feel comfortable, and not like she was being stared at for being an outsider to a place like this. He was kind, friendly, made the cub and innocence of her come out and play.
She liked it.
"Then I will come look for you often," she wasn't sure if she would stay here or not. But AI was making it difficult to say no to the idea.

How plentiful life was here, it was hard for Ai to imagine what 'famine' was, furthermore the idea of a plague of ANY kind. But he'd been told about such things and what they did. It made him sad, to say the least.
But he never dwelt on the thought that it could EVER come back and strike again. Never.
Ai beamed happily when his new friend said she'd come and play with him often. What was better then having someone to play with.... a lot? He'd have to introduce her to mommy, and daddy, and all his siblings. It would be great.
"I bet mommy would LOVE to meet you! I dunno about daddy, so much, though. I don't see Daddy as much as I see my mommy, see?" he explained, frowning a bit.
Ai would NEVER be like that when he was a daddy. He'd decided that. He wanted his kids to know him....
Even though he hadn't fully incorporated, in his mind, what it took to become a daddy. "What about you? Are you a mommy?" Ai inquired, looking over his shoulder at the brown female. She looked quite a bit like the grass, he'd discovered, thus leaving him to have to look to her to make sure he hadn't lost her... a lot. He's -so- not checking her out. *bricked*

Kat watched as Ai frowned, she frowned too. She would definitely love to meet his mother, she must be nice to have raised such a cub as Ai. "I would lvoe to meet her...but be glad Ai, that your father is still around, adn that you can seek them out...my parents...my sister...are far from my reach now..."
She smiled and laughed lightly, "Me, a mommy? No no Ai...I don't know if I will ever be one...you see, between us," she leaned to his ear and whispered, "I don't think that anyone would like me more then a friend..."
Kat pulled back and smiled, "A curse I think...I'm very nervous around others...I think that hurts my chances to ever having a family ever again as well... you though, just look at you," she said softly poking at his shoulder lightly, "Before you know it, girls will be lining up for you."

MWA HA HA.
"I'm not -mad- that I never see my dad.. I just miss him.. that's all." he said, forcing himself to STOP frowning. Darnit, it was too much effort to frown, afterall. So Kat's mommy and daddy were gone? How sad. Ai couldn't imagine his own mommy and daddy being gone, for sure.
When the large lioness answered that she was not a mommy, and explained her reasons, Ai frowned. "Really? Hm. Well, I'm sure -someone- will like you more then a friend EVENTUALLY. Then you can be a mommy?"
Odd pause.
Geeze, why did he not understand what he was saying. The odd kiddo.
As she went into more details, the dark juvenile nodded, attempting to understand, but truely, not really getting any closer. "If you just get over your nervousness, I think you'll be just FINE." he beamed, before making a face, again, at the mention of girls liking him.
Ick.
"And I'll be as far away from that line as I can possibly be."

"Perhaps, perhaps one day I'll be a mommy, that is i I can find someone to be a good daddy...that would stay with me, I wouldn't want to be alone....and yes, perhaps one day my nervousness will leave me." She smiled, Ai made her feel like some weight was lifted from her shoulders.
Perhaps conversing with him was a good thing after all, she was able to speak her views, even of herself, even though some of her views of her own self weren't the best.
Kat smiled and laughed lightly, "I'm sure one day you'll find a pretty girl that you will like too Ai," she said and she lightly tapped his shoulder and smiled at him.
Why did it feel like she was talking to someone that was older than he was?
Odd.
"I know you still don't like them yet...but you'll find a girl, she'd have to want to play though right?" she was unknowingly asking of what the perfect girl Ai would be interested in. But she was a cub too inside, she hadn't really gotten the full out detailed version of 'the talk.'

Ai nodded firmly. Alrighty, at least she agreed with his thought on her losing her nervousness. Afterall, this place made it impossible for one to be nervous. Too many people around to talk to.
At least in his opinion.
A bit of a shake was his physical response to being tapped on the shoulder, before he looked over his shoulder at Kat, returning the smile in a rather dorky manner.
Taking the inquiry in as best of stride as he good (as to not have another 'ickfjak;dfsjlksadfrew' reaction, he considered it for a moment, then nodded. "I guess so. I mean, girls who don't want to play, are no fun, whether they like me or not." Internal gag.
"And it's hard to be around someone you don't enjoy being with, y'know?"
At least that was his take on the idea.
Again surveying the grounds around them, Ai nodded. "Looks like we're almost to home~" he beamed proudly.

Kat held back her giggles as she watched him. He was the typical young boy. Girls were icky and had cooties, everything was fun and games and playing. If there was no play, there was nothing at all. She remembered being like that, with her sister. They were so close, they hardly spent anytime apart. Even in dreams they were together.
"Yes, having someone you know and are friends with, and can get along with is better then someone who just throws themself at you..." she said with a nod. So far, she hadn't had any males really throw themselves at her, if they did, she would've broke into a ran and never looked back.
She smiled and kept up with him, but still let him lead the way. She hoped if she met anyone there with him, that they would like her, not think it odd for someone of her age to be playing games with Ai.
so many other games they can play when older 8D *bricked*

Play games or BUST! If he'd been a protestor, that would've been what his sign said, for sure. So with Kat's logic, the cub agreed quite happily. "I think it'd be scary to have someone THROW themself at me, unless we were playing tag or something."
Indeed, the first girl who LOOKED at him the wrong way, would probably be run from like she had a disease (oh wait. that was already the case.. COOTIES! D8 )
As he wandered through the grass, Ai rubbed his nose in some of the stalks, picking up vague scents that were familiar, and brought him to purring. "Smells like Xu. I think we were out here playing last night." he decided, nodding a bit, then continuing on.
Wow. Now that he saw it, it seemed strange that they'd wandered so far away in the night!
"Maybe if we see mommy, I can introduce you!" In fact, seeing ANYBODY he knew would've gotten an immediate introduction from Ai.

"Mmmmm, yes, I'd have to agree, I would rather not have any random male throw them self at me either...would be strange...and..." she looked to the ground then up again, with a nervous smile on her face, "I think I would have to run away...very fast....probably run here if that ever happened..."
She smiled as she heard that Ai and his sister played. They wandered a bit far perhaps, but that was what young ones did. She did it often when she was a cub, she would do it now if she had anyone to play with.
"I'd like that, very much..." perhaps Ai's mother would give her some advice on how to join the pridelands, that is, if the pridelands would have her. She wondered how many lions and neighbors Ai knew. Perhaps a lot. If he was an adventurous as he sounded, she wondered if there was anyone left for him to not know.
Oh ya like, tag...and...>> hide and seek... *pushes Ai towards her* >3

"Not even random! If I -knew- them, and they were tossing themself at me out of the blue, I'd still be scared." He shuddered a bit at the thought.
Man.. now that the paranoia was in his mind, he'd have to scope out good hiding places around the pridal lands for him to hide in if worse were to come for him.
It didn't seem like that long to Ai, before the pair could see the large gaping structure known as Pride Rock. Sure they weren't right there, but it was getting to be easier to tell all the features of the structure with Ai called home.
"See, I always look for Pride Rock, since it looks so different from all the angles, it makes it easier to tell where I am." he explained, bounding ahead a few steps in excitement. They were almost home, so he was that much closer to introducing his new friend to momma, and everybody else!
It was going to be great fun, he thought.
Mwa ha ha. <33 And.. hmm.. *ponder* What other games are there for lions to play?

Kat eyes traveled to that of the large rock that AI was talking about. It was rather...large. She gulped, was it actually sturdy and safe to be around? She wasn't sure, but if thats where Ai's family was, thats where she was going to go. She wouldn't just turn away because she was afraid of the rocks falling on her.
She looked around, tried to see what else was out here. She wondered if everyone denned near Pride Rock, or if some made dens out here. If Pride Rock was indeed sturdy, it would be the best place to go. Especially during hard rains and floods.
A chill went down her spine when she thought of water.
It made her think of home.
Water there, but so many had fallen ill and couldn't even taste the water. The water back to her home before, couldn't even help her sister's fever. She frowned slightly, then tried to push those memories from mind.
"Do you think they'll be home once we get there?" she asked, her voice optimistic. She hoped so, she would really like to hear others opinions of this place.

Ai continued to walk, having never really felt so excited to go home. His wanderings for the day may have gotten him out of catching a butterfly, but he had nabbed a new friend to show for it instead!
"I dunno. I hope so! But they're mommy and daddy.. so I -think- they may be out doing something.. I dunno, though."
It seemed as though Ai didn't really follow the location of his parents during the day. He was no good at it, afterall. Since they kept MOVING, and did so much faster then his little legs did.
"Maybe, if they're not, I can show you around, though?"
It was a bit of a weak offer to pass time, but he didn't want her getting LOST now.
Um... Both?

She smiled and kept up, "Yes, seeing other things here would be nice if they aren't home. I'm sure though if they aren't home, they will be sometime, so I can meet them then..." Kat peered around and flicked her tail. She was rather thirsty, perhaps Ai knew a good spot to get a drink.
"Ai, do you know anywhere I could maybe get a drink?" it was rather hot out, perhaps Ai felt the same but didn't notice. She would always be thirsty when she was young, perhaps more so now that she really didn't have any sure place to get water from nowadays while she wandered alone.

Ai nodded. "That'll be good!" he agreed, before putting his mind to work at the location of a water-hole. Hmm.
"I -think- there's one out here -somewhere-." he considered, attempting to balance on his hind-legs to peer out and see if there was anything familiar. In fact.. there was. The angle of Pride Rock was familiar. Meaning, if he went this way..
Doubling back, Ai started heading off in a totally different direction, seeming rather sure of his direction. "There should be one out here. My momma took me out here one morning when I was little, so I remember." he explained, bounding off ahead.
Hard to lose a little black mass, but at least he knew where he was headed.

Kat was relieved that there was some source of water out here. Though when Ai bounded off, she quickly went after him to keep up. She really didn't need to get lost in here, and be seen as an intruder and get in trouble. Who knows what could happen if something bad had happened recently.
"Ai, wait up! Not too fast!"
Her tail flicked while she went after him. But her eyes were curious and darted over what she could see. Vague silhouettes, of she did not know what. But she wanted to see everything. She wondered if everyone would be in the same places during the day, or if everyone went there own separate ways. But still came together in the end.
Pride life was a vague memory in her mind, fuzzy and not clear to her. So she was curious about everything.
