not everyone has the ability to see spirits, my kids can see them, i cannot, i can only sense when they are around, which is basically all the time, but it gets hard because i'd like to be able to see who is in the room with me.

It's unlikely that the spirits would be latching on to the mortician and then tormenting his kid, or even going next door, for that matter. If that were the case, every graveyard and funeral home in the world would have swaths of haunted houses around them.
It's also unlikely that the spirits would be latching on to the mortician; there's no reason for them to hang around that guy when they could be latching on to loved ones, cherished objects, locales, or people they hate.
Tell you what: Pick up some mandrake root and leave it in your room. It'll drive away spirits. No spirit can enter a room with true mandrake root in it, or so it's said.
Take a sage wand and smudge the entire home on a semi regular basis. Also, take some dirt from the gate of a graveyard or from an intersection, and sprinkle it around your property. It should ward off spirits.
Salt also purifies and wards off malevolent spirits, as do the plants 'Broomstraw' and 'Angelica.' Hematite is a good stone to keep around for warding off negativity.
The pentacle is a powerful symbol of protection; use it accordingly.
If none of the above works, I might recommend seeing a shrink. Sometimes it can just be a mental illness, and there's no shame in figuring that out.

A lot of people have mental disorders that can seem, to them, to be the work of supernatural entities. There's no harm in being sure that you can trust your senses. I made a point to get checked out back in the day. Rule out as much as you can. If you can trust your senses, you know you really are experiencing something, and you can focus on that. If you find out that you do have a mental problem, you can work on that...find the right diagnosis by doing tests. If you come up green for medical conditions, you know you've got something paranormal on your hands. Try to drive off the spirits...if that doesn't work, try something else, and keep trying things until you figure out what it is. It could be ghosts, it could be that you're crazy, or there could be some other explanation that we just haven't found yet. Just work through all the options and see what you come up with.

Well either ive been crazy since i was very lil or i can see them and hear them. and i don think a 2 yr old can be crazy. But i will find out and tell you what i come up wit.... mrgreen

A very close friend of mine says she's experienced hallucinations all her life. well my kids can see them, and i know they are not crazy, well... ok maybe they are they got me for a mom.....hmm.. i'll have to think about that one.... i mean my husband did say the other day he's got a crazy wife......and i do have a tattoo that says psycho wench... darn it maybe i am crazy.. but in the meantime... it's very possible that you can see them, try having a husband that channels demons alot, now that's fun.....sometimes anyway.....

Well I can see that this is going to e an interesting topic. Anyway it seems that some gifts are blood related such as veryone on my dads side of the family can see them hear them and sense them I got the ability to sense and hear so I normaly don't se them but i have a few times.

OMG!!!!!!!!!! eek THEY ARE MAKIN ME SMELL THINGS NOW!!!! Like, for the past few nights I would get up to use the bathroom. I have to walk through a huge room b4 gettin' to the bathroom. Anyways, I have smelled pipe tabacco like from a while ago in the war days. Also, I will smell womens perfume! crying
