Gook & Treasure: I. the Stop at the Beach Treep

"Kira!" Lia called to the young foal, "Are you ready for our trip to the Castle?" Lia asked as she stuffed the last of their rations into the bag.
Kira gave a light snort, and nodded.
"First we will be stopping at the beach tree! Aren"t you excited?" Lia asked Kira, who was making a disgusted face as Lia loaded some of their packages on to his back.
Nodding he thought to himself, "Hmmph! Some work out this will be, she always uses endurance building as an excuse, but I think she"s just to lazy to carry it herself."
One hour later"
Kira dragged his hooves in the soft damp forest floor; feeling miserable at the beginning of his first mission, while day dreaming about lazing in his nice warm stall. "I will and must complete this!" he thought giving a determined snort, and gave his head a little shake.
Lia started to hum a little toned. Kira perked his ears up and started to pace his steps with the tune. Looking at the little changeling she smiles, "He has a musical talent."
Kira felt the luring of the song, feeling a sense of comfort he gave a horsy smile, "Maybe this isn"t so bad after all," he thought.
A few more hours later"
"Only one mile to go!" Lia said to Kira, "This wasn"t so bad was it?"
Kira snorted, "So bad"it was HORRIBLE!" he thought, really wishing that he could express his anger to Lia right now.
Trudging along a well trodden path, Kira and Lia felt excitement and weariness at the same time. Kira"s ears perked up at the rhythmic sound of the waves" light brushing of the sand. Stopping his steps in surprise, Kira smelled the ocean for the first time, the faintly salted air startle him. It seemed calming and dangerous at the same time. Giving a light laugh Lia gently gave Kira a little push, "Nothing to be afraid of, it is only the ocean."
Soon they edged the great expanse of the beach; the sand twinkled like stars in the mid-noon sun. Kira felt the gentle wind luring him toward the grand blue waters, something Lia called the ocean. With out realization Kira felt his hooves sink, he reared up in surprise.
"WOAH!" Lia rushed up to save the pack from falling off Kira"s back, "It"s ok boy," with a guiding hand she led him in to the sand. "Don"t you love this Kira?" Lia asked with a satisfying sigh, oh! How she loved the ocean.
Kira felt his legs being caressed by the gentleness of the sand, he pick up his pace and soon was running at a full sprint. The shear feeling of freedom and wildness kept up his adrenaline.
"Kira! Wait up!" Lia called after the foal, his mane dancing wildly in the wind, his eyes wild with joy, "He has grown up," she said to herself.
Kira ignored Lia"s cry but he felt his energy ebbing away, slowing down to a trot he enjoyed the lullaby of the ocean. Suddenly something tugged in his mind. He glanced around, asking, "Who"s there?"
A tree to his right answered with a soft rustling of its leaves, "Kira, follow your heart""
Pausing to look at the tree Kira started to wonder, "What are those things hanging down the branches?" taking a closer peek he backed up in surprise, "those are fruits but"but"somehow they don"t seem right to me."

Lia panted as she caught up with Kira, "Tsk, tsk, Kira, you should have waited. I think we are near the Beach Tree," Lia studied her map then looked up, "well I see you have found it already." She said with an amuse smile. Reaching up with her hand she prepared to grab one, Kira suddenly nipped at Lia"s sleeve, Lia pulled back with surprise, realizing that Kira has a bound with this place. After trying to pick 20 or so fruits, each with a rejection from Kira Lia gave up and asked, "Are any of them the one that we want?"
Kira shook his head.
Lia sighed, "I guess we will be staying here until the right fruit shows up," walking up to Kira she took off his load and started to set up camp.
Kira wondered off, puzzled at why he knew why those fruit weren"t meant for him. He slowly walked toward the ocean, lying down by the water, but far enough that it will not wet him, he dozed.
Around Sunset"
"Kira"Kira""
Awaking with a start Kira opened his eyes slowly; he looked right into Lia"s smiling face.
"Look"" Lia pointed towards the horizon.
An image of breath taking beauty looked back at Kira. The sun a mere sliver, giving off the last of its golden rays. The moon a semi circle of purity and grace rose with an eerie light.
"Kira?" Lia called out as Kira dashed to the tree, eyes shining.
A single golden and silvery fruit glowed on the tree; it looked the perfect balance of the sun and moon.

"This one isn"t it, Kira?" Lia asked, eyes taking in the magical elegance of this fruit.
Kira nodded, Lia reached up and plucked it gently from the tree, placing it in the palm of her hand she held it out in front of Kira, giving a light nudge with his nose, Kira pushed it back to Lia.
"Do you want me to take a bite?" Lia asked.
Giving a nod, and one more gentle push, Kira smiled.
Lia held the fruit and took a small bite; it was fragrant and a bit tart but other wise delicious. She held it out once more to Kira.
Kira took it lightly in his mouth and swallow.
An image in of comfort and home popped into Lia"s head, she widened her eyes, "Do you miss home Kira?"
Kira nodded, Lia smiled, "We can communicate now. To celebrate this I brought you a gift," slowly Lia took out a delicate gold and silver horn; it gleamed brightly in the moonlight.

Kira showed Lia an image of surprise and joy.
Lia laughed, "Sleep well Kira"
