(and don't forget my mom! She went too!)

It went great, aside from illnesses, and we did take lots of pics! I'm all jetlagged now though and wanting to go to bed now, but had to do my daily chance and at least a gold post first! I'll catch up with you all tomorrow! Good thing it's a holiday for us!

I'm not sure when Jason will get our pics uploaded, or when I'll get select ones resized, so let me do a quick recap!

Malaysia was immediately hot and humid and took a sweaty day to adjust to. We visited the national zoo, a few malls, one of which had a theme park inside with rides for the kids and a big roller coaster that Jason and Jenni's hubby Guy both went on, and ate lots of excellent Chinese and Indian food. The food was my favorite part, but after a week, and then two, and then three of Chinese food, I was ready for a change! When we went to Australia, our apartment we were staying in was downtown in Chinatown, so when we'd go to the food market, it was all Chinese food too! Jason said that for my Malaysian relatives to go to Australia and eat Chinese food would be like us traveling to Malaysia and then eating McDonald's!

The wedding was nice (but outdoors and windy) and the formal banquet that evening was really elegant, but this was right around the time I was suffering from food poisoning for 4 days, so I wasn't as able to enjoy the food as much. It's funny.. I tolerated all the weird exotic foods in Malaysia ok, but on the first day in Australia, Jason and I both get food poisoning from the food market in Chinatown.

Jenni was sick with one thing or another pretty much the entire vacation, and once Ella caught the achy/fever respiratory flu, she coughed it around to everybody else in our family and some of our extended family as well. My worst day was the day before we left, but fortunately we didn't have anything planned for that day, so I didn't miss out on anything.

Oh, and my favorite part of Australia was the beach, although the waves were really small, it was nice and relaxing sitting in the sand and letting the waves splash over me. And petting koalas and kangaroos was something I had really wanted to do too, and I'm surprised at how much softer the kangaroos are than the koalas! They feel almost like rabbits!

Oh, I forgot about one of the biggest bummers of the vacation was when I discovered all the cash I'd brought along ($260 or so saved up from my birthday and anniversary in August) had vanished along with the $100 Christmas gift money my mom gave me and the $50 she gave Jade. I know where I left it.. in my zippered purse next to my license, check card, and insurance card, which were still there, and I hadn't touched it. The following day, Jason's $100 in Christmas money was gone too, and we'd JUST seen it the night before when looking for my money. We suspected a thief in my aunt's house, and it was unbearable for a day to have suspicious feelings towards my family, but after we spoke to my aunt, she says she's had jewelry go missing in the past and she suspects the Indonesian maid, and that my oldest aunt has also had cash go missing in that house if she leaves her bag upstairs. (I wish someone would have warned us so we could have locked it away or something!) So that was upsetting for a while, but not too much after my mom said we'll just think of it as us helping the Indonesian indentured servant earn enough money to get back to her family, and I feel much better thinking it was the maid than one of my cousins.

sweatdrop Wheeew, ok!! I selected 132 pics out of the 769 photos we took, resized them, renamed them, then had to convert them all from png to jpg because yahoo photos has a new format and seems to ONLY take jpgs.. (but the layout and uploading and editing is cool!), uploaded them, gave them descriptions and tags, and rearranged them again because uploading them threw them out of order. lol

So here we go!

http://new.photos.yahoo.com/lilwhitefawn/albums/

Click the Malaysia and Australia album, or feel free to view previous albums if you've forgotten, or missed them! 3nodding

It seems with the new yahoo format you can't click a thumbnail and open a bigger image with description and all (unless I'm missing how to do it) but you can view slideshow and probably go at your own pace...

Enjoy! dramallama

Awesome fawN. I'll have to wait to view them until after Toni's violin lesson. Must go get a shower now.

Edit: Very nice fawN. You had a great time from what I can see.

great pics fawN.

I always notice when i see any photos of your family, that everyone gets on well, that's so nice to see 3nodding

those wildlife shots are very good! especially the young tiger, a beautiful shot! i really want a good camera, not that i'm likely to go anywhere interesting to be able to get any good shots, but i'd like to have the opportunity at least 3nodding

I think Jason took most of the photos. He's really good at up-close shots, like flowers!

is your camera a big, bulky one?
i'm thinking of one of the flatter ones, i had a brief look today and i see you can get 6megapixel+ ones and it still be quite a small neat device that would be easy to keep in your handbag 3nodding

This is like our camera, a Kodak DX6490, 4 megapixels.

Yup! I'm sure you would! I've gotten some great shots just pointing and shooting, even when my subject is in motion, like the ones over the summer of Jade and Little Alan in the little floatie boat in the swimming pool. Every shot looked great! And I just clicked away!

That camera looks kind of like my mom's camera (which she got as a present for my dad's 30 years working for the labs.) I'll have to see which camera she has exactly, but one feature ours has that hers lacks is that if we turn ours sideways for a tall shot, the camera automatically rotates it for us. My mom uploaded some sideways shots and has to figure out how to rotate them with software and reupload them and rearrange her photos now.
