Moondance
Starlight & fireflies.

In a remote section of the Moorgahaine Emporium & Forge, a darkness crystal sat on an otherwise empty office desk. The windows of the office slowly opened, and the artificial lights promptly shut themselves off. Only starlight danced along the crystal's smooth surface. An odd breeze whirled into the room, bringing faint lights and shadow that flitted about like agitated fireflies. The lights and shadow spun faster and faster, drawing around in tight circles around the crystal. There was a sudden, loud sound- not unlike a car backfiring... and then silence.

The lights were gone, as well as the breeze. The office windows remained opened, and starlight danced along the crystal's surface once more. Tiny sparks and shadows could be seen whirling within the crystal now, and all else was still.

Tourist
Interface.

The crystal had sat silently within the shop for quite some time, and had occassionally been picked up and looked at by the various lodgers within the odd building. Each time it had been put down in a different section of MEF- until it had taken something of a tour. The energy within the crystal reacted strongly when set down on certain metallic panels within the shop, as though conversing with the various computer systems. None of the residents had noticed this reaction yet, but perhaps it was a matter of time.

Lightshow Nurturing
Bonding.

The crystal had sat on one particular metallic panel within the shop for well over a week, and anyone watching closely enough would notice there seemed to be some sort of communication going on between the crystal and the shop itself. A bit closer study would have perhaps revealed what appeared to be random energy transfers between the crystal and panel. The transfers become particularly spectacular in the late evening and early morning hours, creating tiny fireworks displays that can be seen all the way down the corridor. Despite these vibrant displays, most of the lodgers have simply brushed off the crystal's behavior as another one of the shop's mysterious quirks.

In the midst of the night, a tall figure appears in the shop itself. While the security systems are still active and still watching... it's almost as if nothing registers his presence whatsoever. Nothing, except the crystal that the satyr is staring at.

"So it's you who were calling to me," Jaden whispered, leaning over and watching the flickering sparks curiously. HE hadn't delivered this relic... and how it had even come into being, he didn't know. Up until now, all of the relics had come through his own hands first, but this one seemed to defy that rule.

"I'll be keeping an eye on you," he said, letting his fingers trace over the surface of the crystal for a moment and pulling back as if bitten. He let his hand caress the fingertips gently as he frowned, tilting his head to the side. "And we'll see what comes of this strange event..."

With that, the satyr vanished from view, as if he'd never been there at all.

Fly in the Ointment
Warning lights.

The crystal flickered its strange lightshow throughout the corridor until the early hours of morning. The lights were brighter, more insistant than usual- as though something was bothering whatever lie within. The shop kept a silent vigil over its luminous ward, with only the occassional wisp of breeze and creak of metal to keep them company.

Red
Within blue.

The crystal sat silently in the same spot it had been for several days. The metallic panel in front of it flickered for a moment, and then became transparent. The newly transformed screen quickly went from static to clarity, showing a series of files in rapid succession. Lights within the crystal danced faster and faster as the information played upon the screen. After many moments, the file rate slowed, until it finally stopped at the bottom of one text file, with the only word now visible reading "Navidson".

((Status Update: Within the past two months, the following have happened:

  • I was in a car accident. Car was totalled, I suffered minor soft tissue damage.

  • One week after the car accident, Aus and I were in a motorcycle accident. Motorcycle was totalled, I suffered a concussion, minor-moderate soft tissue damage, and severe sprains. Aus suffered minor-moderate soft tissue damage and a broken bone that will require extensive plates and pins surgery to fix. EMT informed us that we were lucky to walk away at all.

  • Hurricane Katrina destroyed my webhost's (and good friend's) home and server equiptment. As a result, it will be weeks (possibly months) before my website/image database is restored. Thankfully (and most importantly) he and his family evacuated early.

  • My computer had to be reformatted several times and troubleshot- ultimately, a new OS had to be installed. This seems to have fixed the problems.

  • My father-in-law was prescribed an antibiotic that lead to him suffering a kidney shutdown and heart problems. After a touch-and-go couple of days, the problem was identified, and he is now recovering.

  • Misc family and work drama. Rinse, repeat.

  • Transferring all my MEF images to Image Shack, and trying to get things ready for the grand opening. Add many Gaia glitches, unreliable satellite connection for uploading, and corrupted backup images in need of replacement- stir and let simmer.

So- needless to say, I've had a rough past couple of months. My apologies for falling behind on this journal, I'll do my best to catch up now that offline concerns seem to have calmed down slightly. sweatdrop ))

    Shift
    Home again.

The crystal had been within the shop for quite some time now, and felt the subtle energies of a timeline being altered and remade. It knew not the source of such alterations, and did not really care either way. It was home, and that was all that mattered. Its home was a vibrant and constantly shifting place, filled with secrets and fragments. It longed to explore the corridors, seek out every new evolution and ancient path.

    Maybe someday.

    Wrench
    In the system.

Moorgahaine gently carried Calavares through Casa Encanto, looking for a room to serve as a nursery for the unnaturally silent infant. The sound of a deep growling drew thier attention to one particular area, and the twins stopped suddenly at the threshold, blinking at the sight before them. It was... another baby. Another lifeform of unknown origin, another addition to what was already sure to be a rather unpleasant conversation with Austerulous, and another possible Black Dog prank.

Moorgahaine looked to one another, and lightly rubbed their neck, "We'll be throttled, for certain."

    Friskit-

We'll be a bit scarce during Halloween, but trust you to do a smashing job on the festivities. Austerulous has given birth to the wonderful (and slightly pointy) bundle of joy. Oddly enough, two items within the Casa spontaneously transfigured into infants right before the birth. So, looking after three infants will be a bit time-consuming, as we're sure you can imagine.

We will do what we can to get a few Halloween-ish items made in time- but no promises. If you'll excuse us, Thorn (one of the surprise deliveries) has taken to hanging from one of our appendages. By her teeth. We think Austeruelaine is getting inspired by the show, and would rather like to discourage such antics.

    Austerulous' laughter is not helping.

    Friskit-

Tried the hot pepper sauce, and found she is quite fond of the substance. Same with garlic paste. We mixed the two into a bottle, and she is now quite happily enjoying the rather... unique treat.

Calaveras (the second surprise) is eerily quiet and just... stares. Austerulous has checked, and the lad does appear to have functioning eyelids- he simply chooses not to use them. It is slightly disturbing, but not quite as much as Gahainen. Perhaps I should just be grateful he's not wanting to build a temple in honor of himself (yet).

Austeruelaine has settled down again, and is letting Austerulous polish his metal appendages. Getting one's hand skewered during bath time is not remotely enjoyable. Actually, getting one's hand skewered is just not enjoyable no matter what time it is.

We'll make a note about the babysitting refusal, and do our best to remember it. We're looking forward to seeing your design ideas- you always come up with the most wonderfully original concepts! As for the culprit- if found, the entity will be tied to the tallest post in the main shop area, surrounded by healing Life sprockets, and left to the staff and customers to deal with. We will let you know ahead of time, so you can get the first bit of revenge in.

    Setting Roots
    Molding.

When resting or awake, tiny sparks of energy could be seen arcing deep within Thorn's black crystal shard protrusions. Unbeknowst to anyone, the shop used the energy sparks as a way to communicate directly and privately with her. Lessons were taught, views shaped, and growth carefully monitored (and sometimes manipulated). The shop had plans for this one, and an eternity of patience to see them through.

    Friskit-

Terribly sorry about the zombies. It seems a few strayed to close to the little ones, and well... Thorn ate one, and Austeruelaine sort of... poked one to pieces. Calaveras just stared at one, until it... um, cannibalized itself to death? Their collective appetites is a bit more voracious than we originally thought. Anywho, let us know what the damage is, and we'll make sure the bill gets paid in full. Oh, and do try and train them not to wander into the Casa area from now on? Thanks.
