Rene, Here.
Since Jeane's disapeared, Conan and I get the job of writing all the kid's journals. Fun, fun.
Chaya, the horrible little twit, has been a bit more sudued since I hit her. She appears to realize that I'm a bit more serious than I seem.
Kagura's met a new friend and, because of him, I check everything I eat three times. Beetles, ugh.

July 16th
Well, it's been a while since I've written. Rene's the only person who's even entered anything in this journal, and I feel a bit bad.
Not as mad as I was when I read that Rene had hit Chaya, though. Sent the little grouchy angel to her room, not the boys.
Chaya's been as sweet as silk, though. She said in her darling little voice: "It's okay, Sissy! I forgive you for being a meanie."
Such a darling little girl.

July 23rd
Chaya's been sulking since Mignon grew up. I know I've been paying her a lot of attetion, but she doesn't need to get so grouchy. Not Rene-Grouchy, just rude and kind of annoying.
Though, I have seen Mig, Chaya, and Kagura talking to each other, glaring at Rene and the boys. I hope it ends well for her.

Chaya's still being hostile to Mignon, Rene, and my stomach. It's kind of disturbing.
But, anyway. With Rene nearly drowning the other day, she's been whining because I haven't let anyone get in the pool. "I don't have stupid chains!" She wailed. "I won't be stupid and die! It's hot!"
Tough nuts, sweeite. I got Dhee to put a chain link fence around the pool. I went into the bathroom later to find Chaya and Kagura in the bathroom together, swimming in the pool.
Well, it was a foot deep, and I trusted them not to drown each other.

August 12th
It's been a long time since I updated. I suck.
Chaya's calmed down a lot. After the whole haven incident, she wouldn't let Draco out of her sight. She just kept clinging to her big Brother. And I mean that, literally. Draco has BANNED her from the second floor bathroom after a few shower events.
Poor little dragon. Heh.

December 20th
I found Chaya's journal the other day. Decided that, since Jeane's no longer around, I might as well start writing in it. The little brat hasn't been a brat since everything went down. Hell, after she woke me up in the wreckage, she hasn't spoken. Not once. Just clings to me like I'm the only safe point in a storm.

Saturday, December 23rd:
This is my journal. So I write what I feel here.
The world is scary now. No where is safe. What if Rene left me? I'd be alone.
What if she dies? People die, and they leave you forever.
I told Rene this once, and she laughed and shoved me. She said she wasn't going to die. She's strong. She won't leave me.
I still have nightmares about watching Mommy die. She exploded, and it was horrible. I wake up and cry, but Rene's there. Even if she doesn't want to she'll hold me until I stop crying.
Sometimes her chains make her throat stop working. But I help. Because she helps me.

Reconnection, part 1
“Rene-”
“For the love of God, Chaya, Run!” Rene gasped, hand pressed hard against her stomach. She was bleeding pretty badly, but it wasn't going to stop her from running!
“You're bleeding-” The girl was sobbing, but she was doing as she was told and running. Rene, ignored her tears, ignored the nearly crippling pain in her stomach, and kept pushing on.
It'd been a normal day, by all accounts. Normal, right up until the some punk decided to pull a gun on a nice owner of a local grocery. Rene, who'd been out attempting to make some money by helping deliver groceries, hadn't been caught in the crossfire. Oh, no. She'd decided that seeing little old Mr. Samson get bullied by some snot nosed punk with a gun was too much to watch.
So, she'd walked up behind him, looped a chain around his neck, and broke it. Pretty fair, really.
Except, of course, what seemed fair and fine to Rene very rarely was. She'd made it back home to the warehouse that she and Chaya'd been living at for the past... ********, she didn't know how long. It'd been forever. But it turns out that the little punk had been part of a gang, and they didn't take kindly to little white haired angel girls breaking the necks of people they were training.
Chaya was fine, that was good. Rene, however, hadn't escaped so unharmed. One wound to the stomach, which hurt like hell and bled like a goddamn stuck pig, a few not-so-serious but still ******** painful wounds to her wings, and there still were bullets in her chains.
“You're bleeding.” Chaya whimpered again once they'd stopped, been forced to stop when Rene's knees just gave out. The older angel wheezed and panted, slowly pulling her hand away. ********, that didn't look good. “We need to go to the hospital-”
“Don't ******** need no hospital!” Rene growled, pushing herself back up to her feet. Oh, God, it hurt so bad- “Just... Gotta keep movin'.I'm leaving a pretty good blood trail, they'll keep following. Pissed 'em off pretty bad.”
There was a sliding noise, and Chaya pressed something against Rene's stomach. She shuddered, the cold air hitting her arms, but she moved Rene's hand on top of her coat. “Hold it. Stop the bleeding.” She said, taking Rene's free hand. “I'll lead you. I won't let you down. Okay?”
There was something on Rene's mouth that might've been a smile. “Okay.” She coughed, glad that Chaya wasn't looking to see the flecks of blood on her lips. Chaya was a good kid. She could get another chance. Rene didn't expect one at this point. She was almost ready for death.
But Chaya kept pulling on her, kept leading her. They left Durem behind, heading for Barton. A bit past the Reclamation Factory, still in the woods, Rene fell again. Chaya knelt, wiping the blood from Rene's face with the hem of her dress.
“You're a good kid.” Rene said roughly, resting an arm on her. “And, goddamnit, with the way this messed up world is, you can find a new home. Somethin' better. You deserve it, kid. Go.” She gestured her towards Barton.
“Rene, please-”
“Kid, I can't go any farther.” Rene laughed. She leaned her head back, staring up at the sky. “It hurts. I'm tired of it hurting, Chaya.”
The girl sniffled, and Rene was surprised when her small hands kept pulling. “Lean on me.” She sobbed. “Won't leave you. You didn't leave me. Everyone else is gone!” She was still sobbing, pathetically, and kept pulling. “One more try, please-”
Rene moaned, forcing herself up, leaning against her much smaller sibling. “One more try.” She murmured. It wasn't in her to give up.
It was easier, leaning on someone. Rene closed her eyes and trusted Chaya.
It'd been quite some time, and Chaya left Rene to lay against a wall. She bit her lip, surveying the large building before her. It wasn't in the best condition, with some high windows, but not high enough if she stacked things right...
She pushed and pulled things nearby, pulling herself up on a windowsill. She broke the window, clearing off any sharp ends, and climbed in. It was dry, it was warm, and it was very dusty. She crawled back out and down the things, helping Rene to her feet again. The girl was largely unconscious, and it was hard to pull her into the warehouse. But she did it, straining and pushing herself. Rene was inside soon enough, and she tried her best to make the girl comfortable.
“I'll take care of you. I promise.”
