Acrasia grew a few nights ago. It made me have conflicting emotions; why was she growing, but I wasn't? We're about the same age--Mom just adopted me later. It gave lots of opportunities to tease her. For example, none of her clothes fit anymore, and she had to wear Mom's old uniforms until we could go shopping and get her new stuff. And she had to go bra shopping, which I think would probably now be her most embarrassing moment.

Yet at the same time, I'm kind of happy for her. Being little has not been fun for her; partially to her fault, and then partially not. Acrasia's never been one to conform, but now that she's older, her judgement is (hopefully) more sound, and she'll maybe realize that there's a difference between conforming and making an agreement to change a little.

But I think Mom figured out quite quickly that I was a little jealous, and had a talk with me. She said something along the lines of, "I know you're probably wondering why Acrasia grew before you...blahblahblah...but everything happens at its own pace...blahblahblah...and you'll grow soon too."

But to be honest, I wish people would stop making such a big deal over her growing. It's getting really annoying. Yes, Acrasia IS my sister--in a twisted sort of way--and I love her and blah, but she really annoys me. She doesn't make a big deal about things, but sits on the side with some proud little smirk, and that alone rubs it in your face more than anything she could say. At this point I'm mad at her. Jealous? Of course! Who said I only have good traits? That's why we were banished, no?

And yes, we pass it off as general sibling rivalry because there are times that we get along, and we do side with each other in public, but there are times when I honest to the Gods hate her.

Good gods, it's been a long time since I wrote in this journal. Nell's been on quite some adventures since. For one thing, we went on a little family vacation--actually, it was Jes's idea to take the kids, but they had fun. Jes and I are from Ithieral, a weird little blip-on-the-map realm out there, where our enormous families are located. Jes and I were involved in the military there, and we were both Majors until I had to leave and come to Gaia, and since he's amazing like that, he came too. But enough ancient history!

We went home to visit the government (wow--that sounds weird) and our families. Jes has a sister, Kersaannie, who has two daughters, Telyani (Tell-yan-i) and Zarona (Zar-ohn-ah), whom Nell spent most of the trip with. Tell and Zar took Nell to school with them, which while sufficiently awkward, was enjoyable, from what I gathered. Ithieralan children are rather different from Gaian children, but I think the culture gap bridged pretty well. All three of them are such sweet kids when they want to be...

Nell also enjoyed target practice with my cousin Vennie. I did not enjoy this. Acrasia is one thing--she's a teenager, but Nell's a little young to be dealing with flying razor sharp knives that one throws. They're standard weaponry for Jes's and my mil. base, so we're familiar with what they can do. Venn also said that Nell is a good shot, which makes me worried about what else they were playing with.

She did enjoy the libraries as well. Venn got them all into different sim. rooms--rooms where the volumes were recorded as hologram-like images, so you see/feel/hear/taste/smell what happened instead of reading about it. Nell went into the history room, and came out babbling about things I barely knew about. She and Venn got into an indepth discussion about the Vallencia Affair, which my commander, Adre Vallencia, was a huge part of. Don't worry, it ended well. Adre was framed.

Anyway, it's lunch time and Nell wants to use the stove, so I'd better go. I'll write more later.
