New Begginings

Raven was about ready to tear her hair out, the child wouldn’t stop crying, not that she blamed the poor dear, she was going through a lot of trauma today, her mother dies and she finds a new home, the girl had the right to be a little cranky. But one thing she had discovered over the years was that she could not stand the sound of a child crying. It tore at every maternal instinct she possessed, and this little girl had been crying for close to three hours.

Pain, that’s all this small creature could feel was pain, it engulfed her body and mind. It felt like something was being ripped from her, like something was being broken inside of her.

Finally Raven swept the girl up into her arms once more and pressed a kiss to the child’s forehead. “It will be okay little one, no one is going to take anyone else from you, it will be okay sweet one no more pain”

And then there was no more pain and no more reason to cry, the child had forged a bond once more and she felt whole and complete.

Raven rocked the child in her arms and swore to the gods that she would never let anyone harm her tiny charge ever again. She wouldn’t coddle her though, she would teach her to defend herself and how to be self-sufficient. This little one would never be helpless, never again.

An Old Aquiantance

Of the many advantages to having a club owner and bartender as your friend, being able to visit during non work hours and still get piss drunk when you need to was currently the one Malen was valuing the most. Plus he could take Kishi with him and not risk leaving her alone in the head quarters. Del was out at lessons so she wasn’t a concern and he’d left Kay with her mother. There was the current lodger there was well but Malen didn’t hold much trust in him yet.

Kishi was somewhat annoyed with this break in their new schedule, while visiting this friend of her fathers she could neither train or work on her hypnosis as it would be rude to ignore the woman. Hopefully she could find something to entertain herself with.

One of the distinct advantages to owning and bartending in a club was that you had all of the day hours to yourself to think about things that were bothering you. Like the child currently sitting on the bar-top wand in hand waving it around and watching the trails of light the flame left.

The child perplexed Raven as did the circumstances that had led to her acquiring the girl. A dead mother but the child left alive? Even she hadn’t heard of many hit men who would do that, and this was obviously a hit, or something personal at least. Shaking her head she let a smile pass her lips as she watched the child, who was now attempting to knock her rum and coke off of the counter.

While Raven was busy retrieving the glass from the little girls terrorization she noted the sound of someone entering the club from the main entrance. “Hey sign says closed a*****e, go find another hole to crawl into.”

Malen snorted at the welcome “ But Raaaaave you love me and how would you feel knowing I wasted my money on inferior alcohol when I can come here and convince you to give me some for free.” Well that was unlikely more like a buy one get one free deal, it kept her from being broke and him from getting too drunk. Hopefully she’d not Kishi behind him and keep him at a decent level. he wanted to drink but he still needed to be a reasonable person even if he was currently not the best influence.

Kishi looking around stared at the baby on the bar top then stared at the wand in it’s hand. she had fuzzy memories of it but she knew she’d seen it before. The woman however was not familiar at all. “That wand and baby “ She murmured transfixed by the moving but unburning flame.

Listening to Kishi Malen let his gaze be directed from raven to the girl he’d dismissed as being a niece of hers. Immediately he recognised the wand but Neph was nowhere in sight. “You babysitting for neph?” he inquired.

Raven grinned at the man, she hadn’t seen malen in far too long. “Get your a** over here mister” Normally she would have hopped the bar but that would have left the baby on her own in the event that she fell and Raven wasn’t quite that irresponsible. Hey eye was caught by Kishi and she grinned “Who’d you knock up Mal?” She was taken aback by the question, Neph… that must have been the mothers name. “Um, nope, you know something about the kid though? I found her maybe a week or so ago dead mother lying beside her.”

Ryvan giggled and waved the wand around some more but sadly she was not yet super coordinated and the wand slipped from her fingers bouncing to a stop at Kishi’s feet. “Mah Wah!”

Malen rolled his eyes “ No one she came from a wand like that girl.” The joy Malen had felt about seeing his friend was sucked away by her next set of words. Neph dead? But why? Were the gods just striking down people to see how long it took him to break. The man was frozen unable to speak or move as his mind tried to comprehend this latest loss.

Kishi bent the pick up the wand feeling sad for the poor girl as she listened, so many children were losing their guardians right now. Was this punishment for their past, were all the unlucky ones bad people before this life. Looking at the baby she found it hard to image such a sweet baby was ever evil enough to deserve this.

Twirling the wand in her fingers like a baton she offered it back to it’s owner.

Seeing that Kishi was there to catch the baby in case she fell Raven launched herself over the bar and made her way to Malen’s side. She had seen the bounty hunter pissed before, and drunk out of his skull, and even crying upset, but never had she seen him freeze, not once in the entire time she had known him. She led him to the bar and sat him down in a chair making certain he wasn’t about to fall over any time soon. “Mal, hun. Whats wrong?”

Ryvan giggled as the pretty girl gave her back her wand. The pretty girl was a nice girl. She reached out to Kishi to be picked up “ Uh!”

Malen let himself be moved and just sort of sat in the chair as if it were the only thing keeping him in this new position.” I.. Neph and Neveah and that place” Orange eyes turned to stare at green. “ In the past week I have seen more hell than you can imagine and now I just wanted solace in some whiskey and beer and all I find is more death and hell.” He closed his eyes “ Gods what about Umbra the woman’s got half a dozen kids between her and Neph and she’s a great woman but she can’t hold her own with them.” When he opened his eyes again they were tired and haunted. “Tequila please, no lime no salt.” He didn’t care what Kishi saw at this point her delusions of a fair world were long since shattered .

Unable to resist the call of a cute child Kishi lay her own wand on the bar and scooped up the baby. “ You’re very cute you know” She said smiling at her “ and probably nicer than some other green eyed babies I’ve met. Wonder if mom would let me trade Kay for you.” She cared for her sister of course she’d rushed to help her when the shade had attacked her, still their relationship was rocky at best.

Raven nodded and moved behind the bar preparing Malen’s drink and passing it to him. She glanced over at Kishi “You thirsty or hungry sweetie?”

Kishi shook her head “I’m ok.”

Raven nodded and passed her a bottle filled with formula, “If you want you can take the baby over onto the stage and play while I talk to your father. If she gets hungry give her the bottle and if she stinks bring her to me since I doubt you know how to change a diper.”

Ryv wrapped her tiny arms as far around Kishi as she could. The pretty girl was warm and soft. Her fingers found the soft tuft of hair at the end of a braid and like all babies would, the braid went straight into her mouth.

Raven walked back over to Malen and hopped up onto the bar sitting next to him, wrapping her arms around his shoulders and hugging him, “What have you and that poor girl been through hun?”

Kishi took the bottle and baby to the stage and sat down. She spread her wings wide then forward encircling them in darkness minus the light of the girl’s wand It was both amusing and good exercise. “ Tell me all of your secrets” She said softly grinning, maybe for a little while if she stayed like this surrounded by light and innocence the world wouldn’t be so bad.

“Hopeless mother hen you are” Malen mumbled enjoying the embrace. It was good to be held by someone strong like him. “ I don’t want to talk about it” he said voice firm. He was not going back into that ever again unless he had to. “ Suffice to say keep Ryvan the hell away from the headquarters until I tell you it’s ok to come by. If the house decides to go crazy again I don’t want you dying as well.”

“Ryvan” She committed the name to her memory, her baby did have a name then. She tightened her embrace on the man “I won’t push you know that luv, but I trust that if it involves her safety you will keep me updated.” She dropped a light kiss on his forehead hoping that he could find comfort in her embrace rather then in a bottle.

Ryvan giggled and pet the leathery wings, they were pretty and they felt nice against her hands! She moved her fingers to touch Kishi’s face grinning as she found the pretty girls skin was even softer then the black things.

Malen sighed and stared into his glass, it was tempting to treat it like a really big shot. Still he was feeling a bit better and he supposed he didn’t need it as bad as he had. He wasn’t giving it up just yet but he’d wait and see how this visit played out before he decided what to do. “I’ll let you know everything I learn.”

Kishi was amused by Ryvan’s explorations of wings and face. She’d been a bit nervous when the girl had touched the membranes of her wings but there had only be soft pets no jabbing or grabbing that might damage them. “ You are far too cute Ryvan” she said repeating the name she’d heard.

Ryvan’s fingers made their way into Kishi’s mouth as the girl spoke to her. And her other hand continued to play with the braid.

Raven held him tighter and slid off of the bar so that she could hold him properly after sliding into his lap. “What can I do to help you two hun?”

Kishi nibbled on the fingers just to see how Ryvan would respond. she hoped the girl’s hands hadn’t been anywhere too disgusting before they went in her mouth.

Malen relaxed it was like the old days, he’d come in after a piss poor day and Raven would curl up with him and try and make the world spin properly again. It was something they’d been doing for years and was mainly platonic, with him engaged now it would be fully that way. “ Kishi could use some extra training.” I teach her what I can but all one style and teacher leaves her open to easy defeat once someone figures out how she moves.” Malen knew the Arrikanez woman had skills enough to help Kishi learn to defend herself.

Raven nodded “Training I can help with.” She smiled softly and rested her forehead against his, “but what about you?” Her lips only brushed his for an instant, leaving everything else up to him.

Ryvan yawned and curled into Kishi’s chest her fingers curling around the braid and thumb sliding into her own mouth, the blanket that had been tied about her waist loosening as she crawled into the older girls lap.

Malen blushed and shook his head “ Just training I’m engaged to the owner of the hell house so I’m ok.” It was true he had Ianna and that was enough for him.

Kishi hummed softly trying to lull the girl to sleep as she had Artemis a while back. She didn’t mind the girl’s possession of her braid as long as she was gentle. Closing her own gray eyes she tried to let the image of Ryvan’s brightly burning wand banish the shades that threatened her in the darkness of her mind.

Raven nodded, there was some disappointment yes but this was Malen and they would at least always be friends even if they could be nothing else. “So training, what types were you thinking? And can I rely on you to help me with Ryvan’s training?” She shifted out of his lap sliding into the stool next to him, a hand still on his arm to let him know she was there.

Ryvan’s breathing slowed to a steady rhythm as she fell asleep clinging to the older girl.

Malen smiled at the woman’s acceptance of his change in status. “Mmmm knife fighting I know I’m decent at it but I’m also male I’d teach her to balance a different way and rely on different strength than what a woman fighting would do. I mean I can’t teach her how to take her errm future chest into account and stuff.”

As the two children slept on the stage the adults discussed the details of the children’s training long into the afternoon until she had to either kick them out or send them upstairs so she could open the club for the night.

Reflections on a lost memory

It had been a long night and an even longer day, Malen was back and with a child it seemed. That last part had taken her aback, had it really been that long since she had seen her friend? Well long enough for him to acquire a child and get engaged apparently, she felt a pang of jealousy at the thought, her and Malen had never actually dated but they had at one point at least been somewhat involved, and it hurt to know that she would never have that closeness with him again. Of course part of that reaction could well be because she hadn’t gotten laid in well over two months and she was really missing some of the less wholesome activities that the two of them had enjoyed together.

Ryvan was asleep in Ravens bed once again, though her room was closer to being finished then it had been. That was another thing that was bothering her, Malen had been so adamant that she remain as far from his home as was possible, and while she trusted his judgement she had to wonder what exactly had happened that was enough to make the bounty hunter fear for her life.

A yawn escaped her lips and she glanced around the room, well the walls were painted, all that was left was to decorate it, but that could wait for tomorrow, right now all Raven wanted was a bed and since there was a baby in hers the couch would have to suffice.

A doctors visit

Raven sighed as she entered the waiting room, she knew she had an appointment but given the number of people in the room looking annoyed it was safe to say that the doctor was running late. She still had no idea what had possessed her to bring Ryvan to a pediatrician rather then just going and seeing Dragon but here she was and the

redheaded girl clinging to her hip did not look pleased at the idea of a doctor's visit.

"You're both Brats and I hate you." Anethae whined, though her whine was cut off by a mouthful of squirming, spotted deer fur. It was time for the twin's checkup, or so

the doctor had told her over the phone, and thus she had enslisted the help of Zah to get the twins safely to the pediatrician's office. However, the englistment of their

older brother meant nothing. Prince wouldn't stop crying until Duke was beside him, But once Prince was beside him Duke wouldn't stop crying. That was probably

because Prince was unleashing baby-like torment on his younger brother. No matter which way they were held, the twins gave their family no rest and quiet.

Zah really could only watch. He was horrible at holding infants, so neither he nor Thae trusted him with holding both the brats. Not that watching them wasn't funny or

anything! He just knew better than to laugh at their antics. The Drow did make himself useful though, by opening the door for his Matron and brothers and making sure

that nobody or nothing got in their way.

Luckily, they made it safely into the waiting room, and the second Thae sat down she put the babies on the floor. They could fight there for all she cared, and at least now

Duke had the chance to escape.

At the sight of the newest entrants Ryvan began attempting to squirm out of her mothers arms, they looked like fun! After checking in with the receptionist Raven

granted her adopted daughter her wish, she moved to sit in a chair and set the baby on the floor, wand in hand.

Raven sighed and closed her eyes yawning, she was really going to have to comendeer Malen to come with her next time, doctors offices were eternally boring.

Ryvan however was destracted from her quest to see the twin babies as she caught sight of the pretty boy that was with them, he had light colored hair and dark skin and

it all looked so soft. And so her course was set, she started to toddle towards the boy so that she could see just how soft he really was.

Prince gave a shrill noise that could've passed for a battlecry before flopping bodily on his white twin, who was whining in protest over the entire issue. Their little fight

was stopped (much to Duke's relief) when the red-headed baby crawled by them. Prince keened at her, to try and steal her attention away. Somehow, he knew the baby

was going for his funny-talking bother, but he wasn't important, damnit! Prince was important!

Zasalamel was so far oblivious to the baby who had him in her sights. He was looking around quietly, trying to hide his unease from this room filled with women and their

babies. Thae was staring at the baby however, then at the person who had set the baby down.

"Is she a Ghostling?"

Raven looked up and tilted her head "a what?" She knew that the child had come from a wand and that she had been reincarnated from a past life but that was as much

as malen had told her. "She is whatever Kishi is." That was really as much information as she could give and she hated that, she hated being powerless. And after all

knowledge was power.

Ryvan smiled at the mention of her friends name. She had soft wings and soft hair. And then she reached the pretty boy and her hands closed over the fabric of the boys

pants "UH!"

"Kishi? That bat girl?" Anethae guessed, trying to recall Kishi. She knew a Kishi in the back of her mind, and she knew Zasalamel liked a girl named Kishi, but was it the

same Kishi?

Zasalamel startled when he heard the little girl cry out, literally jumping an inch or two in his seat. He stared down at her with wide purple eyes, then leaned down to

hesitantly pat her head, though contact was short. He looked uncomfortable, and his mind was screaming "girlgirlgirl getitoff getitof getitoff!" over and over.

Prince was NOT happy that he was ignored. Giving a huff, he crawled off of his twin and made his way towards the red head, pawing at her lightly with his hard black

hands.

"Kishi the succubus child yes. Malens daughter."

Ryvan fell back when the pretty boy moved so fast. She fell right on her bum and it hurt! She looked up at the boy with watery eyes and was about to scream when she

felt somoene touch her from behind, unbidden the image of a man walking away and blank eyes moved through her head and she did scream though not of sadness more

from fear.

Zasalamel winced when she screamed, reaching down to pick her up in his own awkward little way, petting at her hair in an attempt to get her to quiet down sicne it was

his fault he made her scream. He might get hurt for making a little girl cry! "Shh Behbee shh!" He cooed out nervously, his actions stiff and forced.

Prince started crying too, but because he was getting ignored. He crawled back to Duke, hitting the albino once he was close enough. Though it made him feel better,

Duke started to cry, and once Duke started to cry, Thae ignored the other guardian to tend to her crying, furry balls of deer babies.

Ryvan tried to squirm out of the older boys arms, he didn't like her, he didn't want her there. "do-en" She quirmed harder her fear forgotten for a moment in face of this

boy who didn't like her. She wanted to go back to the other babies now, they wouldn't be mean like he was!

Raven scooted down off of the chair and made her way to the crying twins reaching out and petting down his back when she did. She had seen the older boy pick up

Ryvan and she knew that her daughter was in no way hurt, so she would allow her to remain on her own for this moment.

Zasalamel whined, though he was only happy to set Ryvan on the ground, since she was so demanding about it. While he was happy to get the girl off of him, he

WASN'T happy that he'd upset her. Infact, he felt awful about it. He reached out again to pat at Ryvan's head hair, trying to make up for his actions.

Prince instantly stopped crying when he was pet, and he curled happily into the woman's hand. Duke had stopped crying as well, now that he was safe and warm on

Anethae's lap and in her arms. So, for now, her end of the kid torture was silent.

Once on the ground Ryvan was quiet and she moved quickly towards the fluffy boys, they were pretty too and maybe they would like her better then the tall boy. She

wasn't upset with him but she was upset that he didn't like her, she was happy when people liked her it made her feel warm.

Raven stood when she saw Ryvan approach the little one she had been petting, she would let her daughter play. Once back in her seat she smiled apologetically at the

other woman "Sorry about that, she hasn't met many people yet."

Zasalamel was content with just watching the kids, rather than have them play around him. This was the first time he'd met a female baby without a whole bunch of

people around! It felt...awkward. He never really liked meeting girls.

Thae shook her head a bit. "Its okay, but I'll have to apologize for him. He's morally bound to fear females." Sighing, the aqua-eyed woman pet the soft fur of the albino

twin, then moved her gaze down to watch her spotted brat and the other woman's baby.

Prince moved his attention to the redhead. His nose wiggled along with his disproportionate ears, and he leaned over and poked the little girl's nose with his hard black

finger. "Abuh?" He questioned, honestly curious.

Raven laughed a bit "I don't mean to laugh but it is a bit of an odd fear. Anyway, you were asking about Ryvan?"

Ryvan giggled at the boy poking her nose and moved her fingers to pet his fur, he was soft! She giggled and kissed his cheek, he was soft against her lips too! He didn't

have wings like kishi did but he was softer then her!

"It is, but We've been trying to get him over it. So far Kishi's the only one he's not afraid of." She left out that he tended to avoid her as his guardian, though. Thae just

shrugged. "She came from a wand? She's a ghostling. He's a ghostling, too." She pointed at the quiet, distant Drow.

Prince keened happily, his ears perking at the kiss. Ooh, that felt neat! Wagging his little tail, the spotted brat nuzzled his muzzle against the girl, then returned the favor

my licking her cheek too, since he was so far incapable of kisses like she was.

Raven nodded "I wouldn't know if she came froma wand, I found her in an alley beside a dead woman, Malen says that he saw her as a wand though so I am assuming

so."

Ryvan giggled at the lick and wrapped her arms around the boy, he was nice! Her fingers found his tail and began playing with it a moment before putting it into her

mouth like everything else she encountered. It was yummy and soft!

"Ah, then they're the same!" Thae clapped her hands a bit, but the motion was stopped by a curious Duke, who grabbed her hands with his hard pink hands.

Prince Snuggled into the girl with happy noises escaping him. His happy noises were stopped by a confused squack when she grabbed his tail, and he wiggled his tail

curiously when she tried to eat it. This girl was weird! With a huff, he leaned over and nibbled on her red hair in retaliation. Take THAT, girl!

Ryvan squeeked "geeee" that was neat, she couldn't feel it but it was cute she wondered if she tasted good like the boy. A yawn escaped her lips and she cuddled into the

boy because he was soft like her pillow.

Raven nodded and looked towards zah "he doesn't look at all happy, whats wrong? Other then the girls?"Zasalamel glanced at the woman as she got up, and once he

realized she was heading towards him, he looked to the ground, instead finding his feet absolutely fascinating. He did listen to her when he was talked to, of course. He'd

heard this talk before, and he tended to disagree but...he'd never tell a woman that. "Siyo, herts." He said slowly, softly. "Siyo." He said then, once she was finished.

Raven just wrapped her arms around him at that point, a quick hug just to let him know she was there. And then she stood, she made it all the way back to her chair

before her name was called. She disentangled the children and glanced over at the other woman and zah "It was interesting. Feel better kid, someday you'll look back on

this and laugh." Well maybe he wouldn't laugh but he'd find it odd at least.

A Space of Her Own

Raven yawned as she walked down the stairs to the main floor of her apartment, Ryvan on her hip playing with her hair. She moved into the kitchen turning on the coffee machine before reaching into the fridge and removing a bottle filled with milk and a container filled with fruit loops. She set Ryvan in the highchair next to the counter and gave her bottle and container. While the red head was eating she went back to the fridge and looked inside.

The air was cold against her skin, the t-shirt not doing much to cover her skin. The fridge was surprisingly neat, much like the rest of the house, which explained why for the most part she could just reach blindly into the fridge to find whatever she was looking for. Flavored cream and sugar went onto the counter and were joined by a silver cigarette container before the fridge closed, the shelf above the sink proved a lighter and a ashtray and the cupboard above the coffee maker gave her a mug.

A glance at the digital clock on the wall provided verification of both the time and the date, and she set about making her coffee before lighting the smoke. She had closed the club for today and tonight so that she could get inventory done, as well as finish (and start) work on Ryvan’s room so that she could reclaim her own bed.

A sip of her coffee and she was already feeling more awake. She looked over at Ryvan who was munching happily away at the fruit loops the milk already being half empty and well on its way to being finished. She sat at the small table she kept in the kitchen, mostly for preparation space and finished off the coffee and the smoke before refilling her mug and retrieving another bottle for Ryvan from the fridge. After assuring herself that everything was more then cleaned up she rescued Ryvan from the highchair and after placing the bottle between her breasts so that it wouldn’t fall from her grasp, once the cigarette case joined the bottle he grasped the ashtray lighter and coffee mug in one hand holding Ryvan against her hip with the other.

The wood floor was cool against her feet as she walked up the stairs to the bedrooms; the second door was to be Ryvan’s bedroom. The room was a mess of boxes and bags, she had gotten around to shopping for the room the other day but not to actually starting it as the unopened paint cans in the far corner were a testament to.

Okay first step was to open the windows so she could work on the room without knocking Ryv out. The coffee, ashtray and lighter were set down on the window sill and the bottle and cigarette case was soon to follow. Next Ryvan was set in the Playpen assembled in the center of the room. And then the windows, all four of them. The room was fairly large and had a grand total of five windows, one of them a bay window that looked out on the yard. The building had originally been a factory of some sorts but Raven had put a lot of time and money into making it into more of a home then a business. And it was, she was most likely the only one who would do it but she was more then comfortable to walk around barefoot on any level of the building.

Windows open and Ryvan safe in the playpen it was time to start painting. Slowly the walls were changed from a faded white into a very pale almost white pinkish silver. It was a soothing color and it contrasted with the woods that would be used in the room. Back stiff and sore Raven decided that she was long overdue for a smoke break and that Ryvan needed lunch. So back downstairs the two went, giving the room a chance to dry.

Once Ryvan was down for her nap Raven made her way back to the room and set about cleaning up the drop clothes and peeling the tape from the walls. Once finished she stuffed the paper in a garbage bag and moved to the pile of boxes. Malen had told her that they didn’t spend years at each age group but that they moved in intervals. So she had bought the furniture with that in mind.

It took the entirety of Ryvans nap but she got the room set up beautiful cherry wood with silver accents were what comprised every bit of furniture in the room.

It was beautiful, and Ryvan would love it.

Meeting Uncles and Brothers
PostPosted: Mon Jan 01, 2007 12:15 am

A New Arrival

A yawn escaped the woman as she briefly shoved her glasses up on her nose. Gray eyes speckled with a hint of hazel eyed a few adresses as she snuck a look at the sheet she'd been given. Right... ah here it was! A smile drew along Lera's face as she tucked her shirt back into place and made for the door. Her shoes clicked slightly on the pavement until she stood firmly and raised a hand to knock politely at the door a few times.

She was here on official orders from the boss, so a no nonsense air was what she tried to portray. Can't be seen as a slacker afterall. Not when she wanted to please Lady Rouge.

Raven looked up from behind the bar as she heard someone knocking on the entrance. This was a first, even the delivery guys usually just walked in at this point, maybe a salesperson or something. She hopped the bar and made her way to the front door her head still sore fromt he near OD of the night before, she really had to start paying closer attention to the pills she took when she was tire. It wasn't a good idea to trust her instincts on it, especially since she had a baby in the house again, said baby was being held on her hip playing with the pendant strung around her guardians neck. Raven opened the door and must have been quite a sight, still in her pajamas, consisting of black cotton draw string pants and a silk spaghetti strap top, her purple hair pulled back into a messy ponytail and her green eyes sparkling dully showing exhaustion. Though the scariest part was likley the trail of eyeliner left over fromt he night before. All in all, the Arrikanez woman figured the poor salesperson was likley in for a shock.

Lera stared a moment at the strange... creature. Then forced a smile. "Good morning miss." A polite nod that nearly sent the messy bun of blond curls loose, or so it seemed anyway, and then she brushed the woman aside and let herself in. "I'm here in Lady Rouge's place. I'm certain you found the note." She didn't bother to turn around as she spoke, eyeing the area with mild distaste. Alcohol or places that served it obviously weren't high on her favourites list. Still she turned after a moment before continuing. "About the relic you're wearing."

A flourish in the direction of the object. "You had a dream last night I'm sure. Or what you thought was a dream anyway." A quirk of her head to wait for a reaction, though she didn't pause to let the woman speak. "Well, it wasn't. It did happen, it's true, and I'm here to prove that. And explain it."

Raven nodded and walked back over to the bar watching the woman to make certain she didn't wander off, "then come over to the counter, would you like a drink" She was used to people thinking her odd for living in a bar, but it was truly more her home then anywhere else she could have found. "And the dream, as you put it I figured to be related to an overdose."

She shook her head at the request and simply turned to follow the girl. Definitely nothing to drink. "I prefere to avoid foul things such as liquor." She quickly chimed in and waited at the woman explained her thoughts on the dream. An overdose indeed. "It had nothing to do with drug use, miss. You have been chosen to care for a reborn god." Which one, well she wasn't certain. "Likely this was explained to you in the dream, but for the sake of repetition I will say it again. The relic around your neck states that you have been chosen as a caretaker."

She paused a moment to let that set in. Alright time to explain why. A hand shoved a few platinum strands back into her bun. "A single god has decided that the world shall be his, and his alone. Thus he began assassinating each and every god one by one. It has come to the point there is only one way to save them. Relocating them as they are reborn."

Raven rolled her eyes at the womans attitude, "I do have things other then alcohal in my home, thank you for the assumption however, and for the record no nothing was explained to me, I passed out and I woke up." She'd let the woman think she was a drug addict, why the hell did she care? She wasn't up to explaining her medication schedual nor did she care to to a complete stranger. The issue with the god however caught her attention, "Care to explain more?"

Oh joy. This would be fun. A hand massaged her temples. She knew nothing. "Right, well I don't care for any beverages. Thank you." She stated before preparing to speak again. "As I said. The relic you have on states you're a guardian. You cannot remove or destroy it, it is bound to you." Alright, step one. Step two time.

"You my dear, have been chosen to take care of one of these gods that has been relocated. It will be reborn from the relic around your neck." Once more trying to draw the woman's attention to her neck article of clothing. "This is course, is to protect the newborn gods from the rampaging one until they are older. I'm sorry to say I don't know all of the details, but the gods do work in mysterious ways."

Raven looked down at the pendant that Ryvan had abandoned in favour of attempting to squirm out of her guardians arms and towards the stranger, though with very little luck. This was the first time the woman had taken a moment to examine the thing, it was a black orb on a fine silver chain, quite beautiful really but it didn't tell her much about the child.

"So the orb contains a child, a god in child form rather, and I shall be the one to raise them?" Were these people insane? She was an Arrikanez damnit and well... she pitied whoever pissed of the godling any time soon, which raised another question. "Do you know what this child is the god of?" It would be good to prepare if nothing else.

The woman waited as the thing was finally looked it over, then nodded at the questions. "Exactly." She wasn't insane, it was the gods who decided this. Not her, or her boss. They just... helped with the matter. "No, I don't know which god that is." She replied, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. Was that all? The woman knew what she was stuck with and the basics. There wasn't much else to say right.

Besides, she had paperwork to deal with. "Do you understand everything then?"

Raven nodded bouncing Ryvan up to rest upon her hip more securely then she had been, "Yeah, its not like there is much else I need to know is there? I mean not until the child grows at least right? Its not like the orb is going to talk to me or make anything happen will it?"

The woman began to nod before clapping as she realized she'd forgotten one thing. "Oh right! The ship!" It was more to herself than anything as she nodded a few times. "Right, well... Lady Rouge is the one who knows the most. I doubt your relic is going to start babbling, but if it will she would know. Now, to get ahold of the ship you'll just need to call." Yes, as bizarre as it sounded that was how it would work. A simple phone call.

After a moment of fishing in her pocket the woman pulled out what could only be... a piece of paper. a quick check and she walked over briskly and handed the sheet to the purple haired wonder. "This is the number. You can call and we should be with you shortly." A quick nod and a business smile before she turned. "Well then, I'll be off." A few seconds later she'd let herself out and was back on her way. She did have other work to do afterall.

Raven barely had a chance to glance down at the paper before the woman walked from the bar, well then that was different to be sure.

Raven laughed and looked down at Ryvan, "Well I guess you are going to have another sibling kiddo. And on that note I have to give my brother a call soon and figure out when you can meet some of the rest of the family."

She grinned and set the child on the bartop and went about her work getting the bar ready for the next day.

Meeting With Maran

Meeting Archie

Finally. A week without mysterious notes and the feeling that someone was watching him. And what did Archie get as a reward? A day with his... grandson? Ew. He really hated thinking of Alek that way. He hoisted the baby higher on his hip and slowed his stroll to a creeping shuffle. He might have been watching Alek, but that didn't mean he had anything in mind to do with him.

Alek shoved a fist in his mouth.

"Are you hungry?" Archie asked. Fists in mouths were as much of a sign as anything else, he supposed.

Archie crossed the street and pushed open the door of a cozy-looking coffee shop.

Raven was curled up in a plush armchair Ryvan sitting in her lap. It wasn't that she didn't love the club she just needed to get out every once and a while. At the sound of the door opening the little redheaded child looked over her guardians shoulder and giggled when she saw who it was, She knew him! At least she thought she knew him, there was something familiar about him.

Alek swiveled his head toward Ryvan immediately. It wasn't that he recognized the voice, since she hadn't really had much of one the last time they'd met, he just wanted to know what was so much fun.

He scratched his seemingly always itchy head and bounced, temporarily diverting Archie's attention from the counter, down to his temporary charge.

"Hm?"

Alek pointed and Archie scuffled over in the direction of the baby's finger, his eyes still on the confusing array of coffee and tea names behind the counter.

Still a few feet away, Alek nonetheless took the opportunity to blow a raspberry in Ryvan's direction before bursting into peals of laughter.

Ryvan giggled even more and blew kisses at the other baby. He was silly, and he looked soft too!

Raven looked over at what her daughter so very amused and smiled when she saw the other child interacting with her. Perhaps the boy's guardian would come sit with them so that the children could play.

Ryvan smiled again and waved her wand at the litttle boy.

That wand. It reminded Alek of something. Why wasn't Archie moving faster?

Instead of simply bouncing this time, Alek jabbed his heel into Archie's stomach, right above his left hipbone.

Archie grimaced, but certainly paid Alek more attention this time. The woman and baby seemed friendly enough, so he finished making his way over to them.

"Um, hi," he said. "Sorry to bother you. Alek's not... normal." It was a strange introduction, but there it was.

Alek waved back and smiled, happy to have gotten his way.

Ryvan giggled and waved at the boy urging her mother to place her near him.

Raven complied setting her daughter near the male child and looked up at the man accomianing the boy "few children are normal I'm afraid. You aren't bothering us though, if you were I would have told you." And she would have, she was not the type to let an annoyance go on unchecked.

Raven grinned at being set near the boy she reached out with her wand and poked him in the nose "ho"

Stick flying toward face! Alek squeezed his eyes shut and wrinkled his nose, but when Ryvan's wand touched him, his eyes snapped open again and he grinned. "Aho!" he said, reaching out for her arm. He might have been super-good-awesome-cool friends with Leaf Boy, but they had never really played many fun poking games. This girl was certainly interesting.

"Well, I'm glad," Archie said to Raven. "I never have any idea if he thinks he knows these kids or he's just creepily curious. Archie took a seat nearby, more subdued than usual. "What do people order in these places? There's so much stuff."

Raven laughed "well it depends on what types of things you like, do you like coffee or tea?"

Ryvan smiled and toddled a little bit closer before poking him on the nose with her finger, and then again on his lips. He was soft and squishy!

Alek poofed a puff of air out of his mouth before reaching his own hand up to touch his face. Yup, still there. He hummed a somewhat dischordant little tune.

"Coffee's fine," Archie said. "I just didn't know there were so many different kinds. I came in here for food, so I guess it doesn't really matter that much." He looked over at Alek, who didn't look so hungry anymore.

Ohh a hand Ryvan liked hands, and into her mouth it went. He tasted good. Like salt. Her fingers were still on his lips and she poked them again she wondered if maybe it was hands that tasted good or if it was the whole person.

Normal coffee or a different type. Raven hated weird coffees, just give her a black coffee with a bit of cream and she was happy. "If you wanted food you are really in the wrong place, cookies are really about all they sell here"

Alek squealed with delight and gummed Ryvan's hand in return. Hands hands hands.

"Normal? I think," Archie said. "The kind that comes from a pot. This stuff..." he waved his hand at the board with the prices. "Cookies would have been okay," he continued. "I came in here for him, but it looks like he's found something else to do."

Raven laughed "Yes he seems to be enjoying eating my daughter."

Ryvan giggled louder around his hand and released it before licking his face "yup it tasted good too, yummy!"

Archie's brows knitted together. Wasn't it cold and flu season or something? Dixie would most likely kill him if Alek came home sick. Archie quickly smoothed his expression. He supposed a little cold wouldn't matter if whoever was leaving him threatening notes just killed them all in their beds. "Mmm hmm," he responded. "I guess he wasn't really hungry."

Alek stopped chewing when Ryvan's wet tongue licked across his face. "Eeee!" he said. He began to laugh, full guffaws quickly turning into mildly hysterical, hitching baby giggles. This was way more fun than just walking around outside. He examined his own damp fingers, wiggling them experimentally.

Raven smirked a little at the mans worry. "She's been to the doctors recently and a few of her uncles are doctors as well, I doubt very much he will catch ill from her." Something about the way the man held his reactions in check reminded Raven of something, of a released convict almost, watching his back.

Ryvan laughed too when Alek did, of course her laughter ended up with her flopping on the boy and slobbering all over him before planting a baby kiss right on his eye.

Archie smiled, not surprised that he was easy to read. Maybe that was part of his problem. "I'm sure everything's fine. I didn't mean to..." He waved his hand at the babies. "I'm sure everything's fine," he said, seemingly unconcerned with the fact that he wasn't making much sense.

Alek oofed out a breath of air and closed his eyes against the impromptu shower and kiss. Then he squealed again and clasped his arms around the other baby. He remembered dancing lights and the soft laughing sounds he used to be able to make, back when he didn't have a body. "Ba ba ba," he said, smiling.

Raven smiled lightly at the man "Interesting."

Ryvan wrapped her arms around the boy in return closing her eyes a moment before opening them and jumping a bit "BOO!"

What was? Archie shifted in his chair, feeling a lot like some sort of strange specimen.

Alek jumped in surprise, his eyes wide. Boo, indeed. He looked over at Archie with a quizzical expression on his face.

Archie looked at Alek and Ryvan again, then back at Raven. "Did your baby come from a wand?" He looked again at Ryvan and the wand in her little hand. "Is that too personal? I'm sorry."

"I'm told she came from a wand yes I didn't know her back then, found her next to a corpse. Turns out the corpse was her mother." Raven smirked looking at the man like she was analysing him, it was fun to play with people.

Ryvan giggled and kissed Alek on the face as if to say sorry for scaring him.

"Oh." Well, that was unpleasant. But, at least it explained Alek's reaction to this girl. "Alek did too. Come from a wand, that is."

Alek lowered his head and hummed a short tune. "Meebado," he said seriously. He pursed his lips and bopped the front of his face against Ryvan's cheek. There obviously wasn't much kissing going on in the Saturn household.

Raven nodded "It was odd, I hadn't been expecting a child any time soon but I now have two, well one and a necklace to become one."

"Meebado" She nodded and tickled Alek slightly "Mah Meebado!"

"I guess I've got two too," Archie said with a grin, feeling much less scrutinized all of a sudden. "Actually, Alek is my daughter's son." He almost managed to stop himself from saying it, but there it was. He hid a wince.

Alek giggled. He had been tickled before, believe it or not. He kicked his feet and laughed some more.

Raven smiled "so you are a granddad then?" She could tell it was a sore spot but it was too much fun to play a bit. She resumed her scruitiny of the man trying to figure out if her instincts were right and if this man was indeed an ex con.

Ryvan smiled at her new friend and kissed him on the lips quickly like she had seen mommy do with her friends.

"Yeah," Archie muttered. He hoped he didn't look grandfatherly. "Um." He coughed into his hand. "Dixie's like the same age as I am. Almost." There was really no getting past this, was there? "We're not from around here," he finished lamely.

A face flying straight towards Alek's was almost as surprising as a stick, so he closed his eyes and blew another spitty raspberry as Ryvan kissed him. He laughed. Now that she wasn't a ball of gas, he wasn't likely to forget her again.

Raven smirked and looked at the man "where did you do time?" There no point in pussyfooting around it, just blunt and to the point, so very Raven.

Ryvan blinked as her face was sprayed with saliva, she hadn't seen her mommy and her friends do that before maybe it was a weird boy thing. She hugged her new friend again and giggled.

Archie had drawn in a breath to answer Raven, whatever she was going to ask next, but he hadn't expected that. At all. His mouth dropped open and he paled a couple of shades. He started to speak, but it came out as a tiny, hissing shriek. Nice. "I... I'm doing it now," he said. "I'm done, really." His eyes darted to Alek, and he wondered if this woman was going to grab her baby and run, like criminal behavior was contagious. He didn't mind when people knew, in fact, he had told tons of them. He just found it creepy that she had figured it out on her own. Was she the one who had been leaving the notes? Archie clasped his hands in his lap. They were cold, very unlike his memories of the fire.

Alek opened his eyes, saw his fine, spitty handiwork, and laughed some more. He sat back, resting his body on his hands as best as he could manage, and started humming.

Raven nodded "Interesting place to serve time, I've managed to escape that for the most part." Raven had nothing against criminals, hell she'd been a criminal a few times okay a lot of the time. She laughed a little bit "can you stop looking at me like I am going to grab the children and run? I assume your 'daughter' is doing much the same then, lucky kid gets to grow up with strong people around him."

Ryvan smiled at Alek and curled up next to him ignoring the spit and just listening to the sounds of her friend humming.

Archie found that he hadn't been blinking. Or breathing. He realized this when he attempted to do both at the same time and degenerated into a rapidly blinking, panting mess. He swiped his sleeve across his eyes and nodded. "Yeah, Dixie's strong all right." He laughed, but it came out more like a wheeze with sound. "I'm... glad you don't mind. The whole... thing." He ran a fuzzy forefinger over the thin fabric of the knees of his pants.

Alek sat happily humming for quite a while, at least in baby-time. It wasn't long, however, before the drying spit that covered his face and hands began to dry and his skin began to itch. His itchy face reminded him of his itchy scalp, and he started in on that, whipping his hair around in a head-scratching fury. He stopped humming abruptly and his face squinched up in annoyance.

Raven looked at the man, actually looked at him. "Relax and breathe, I'm not going to lynch you I promise, not even a little lynching, though maybe a bit of spanking if you ask really nicely." She smirked and awaited the mans reaction to that.

Ryvan looked up at her friend and sulked a bit she moved her wand up a little and moved the fire over his face and hair as if trying to sooth it, whether it would work she had no idea but the fire was nice and cool so you never no it might just. "beh?"

Archie continued to look down at his knees, but a genuine, unafraid smile crept across his face. Carrie, Archie's neighbor, was the master of creepy innuendo, so Archie was fairly confident Raven was only kidding. At least he hoped so. "Yeah, sure," he said, more like a kid accepting a lollipop than a grown man engaging in witty pseudo-sexual banter. You could shove the puppet into a new body, but you couldn't make the puppet stop being... a puppet. Or something.

Alek stopped scratching, but his hand remained on the top of his head as he watched the fire move across his face. He made one last annoyed little sound before he settled down and sat back. He didn't really feel like humming anymore, but he did it anyway. It made him feel better sometimes too.

"Now was that a yes to the breathing, or the spanking? Because really I don't think that a coffee shop is the place for spanking, and especially not with children here. Bondage and babies don't mix." He'd never know if she was serious or not. hell she never knew if she was or not, yeah if he offered she'd most likley take him up on it because she was just like that.

Ryvan poked his nose and looked at her friend "seep?"

He hadn't thought it would have been possible to get more uncomfortable, but there it was. "I... no. No, they don't." A flush creeped into Archie's cheeks and he seemed to sink into his chair a bit.

Alek rolled back onto his back and curled closer to Ryvan. Stupid itchy head. He closed his eyes and balled his fist into the long sleeve of his shirt.

She smirked some more moving closer to him and placing a hand on his knee leaning foreward so that just enough of her cleavage was showing to be considered teasing. "am I bothering you?"

Ryvan curled into Alek and pet his hair her fingers rubbing his scalp.

"Oh, h-no," Archie said, his eyes skimming away from... really any part of Raven at all. He looked around the coffee shop semi-frantically, but no one seemed to notice the fact that there were... things going on. At least Carrie stayed on her side of the fence most of the time. He looked over at where the babies were and his eyes widened even further at the sight. "Is he dead?" Archie asked. "Alek?" He tried to squirm out from under Raven's hand, but eventually gave up and began to move it with his own. "I think we'd better go."

Alek's tail twitched slightly at the sound of his name, but he was otherwise still, his forced humming turning happier at Ryvan's baby massage.

Raven smirked and stood walking over to the man and moved to sit on his lap a moment pulling a pen from her bag and taking his hand, writing her number on it. "you should give me a call some time hun."

Ryvan sighed at the loss of her friend, she liked it when they were hugging it was warm and he made pretty sounds.

Archie held his breath again, this time for a completely different reason. He had heard all about strange human urges on TV, but having a woman on your lap was certainly an extremely personal rude awakening. He felt every move the pen made on the flesh-parts of his hand, and every scrape reminded him of the flick of a match. But then it was over, and Archie was scrambling to his feet, trying to keep from dumping Raven on the floor in his haste. "Mmm hmm," he said in response to her suggestion.

Alek made a small disappointed sound as he was lifted into the air and his covered fist waved in Ryvan's direction in a sort of goodbye.

Archie waved the hand that wasn't gripping baby, afraid that if he said anything, this whole day might end differently than he had planned when he left the house. He inched toward the door, cradling Alek in front of him like a baby-shield.

Raven smirked and gathered Ryvan up in her arms. "Well that was interesting. Wonder if he actually calls me, or if he runs home and washes his hand."

Ryvan waved at her friend she didn't want him to go and she hoped that the man did call her mommy.

Archie hoisted Alek onto his hip and flexed the hand decorated with Raven's number before using it to pull open the door. After one last, fairly frightened look at the woman and her baby, he slipped outside and hurried down the block, Alek still waving at the shop over his grandfather's shoulder.

Raven was curled up in a nice comfy chair in her living room relishing in her time of piece and quiet, Ryvan sitting in her lap. There were candles spaced throughout the room and Incense burning on the table. They were simply taking a moment to breathe life in and rest. They were almost meditating. The fames intrigued Ryvan, the way they flickered and seemed to come to life all on their own, and the smoke coming from the stick on the table was pretty and she could almost see pictures in it, forming out of the smoke, but staring at it made her dizzy so she had to look away. She settled back into her mommy closing her eyes for a moment when she felt her mother breathing. It was comforting.

Raven smiled down at her daughter, she was glad that the girl had adjusted so well to being in her custody, she had been worried in the beginning that some how the girl would blame her for the trauma that she had faced in her short life. She pet the girls hair and smiled softly.

Ryvan opened her eyes again at her mothers touch and gazed into the flame of the candle in front of them. It spun and wove itself into patterns glittering and making everything warm. It only took a few seconds before the gypsy child was mesmerized by the flames, almost being drawn into their heat. Which was a good thing seeing as she was getting slightly cold.

The girl didn’t even a moment to contemplate the sudden chill, nor did her guardian, because suddenly their minds were bombarded with images and sounds, all layering over top of each other and making it hard to breath let alone think.

A Scream.

Blood.

The area around them began to glow as if despite the chill they were aglow with smoke and flame.

Pain.

The flickering about them intensified and seemed to reach a climax before fading back into the candles that surrounded them.

Eyes filled with tears.

A collapse.

And all of a sudden they found themselves back in their own bodies in their living room hearts racing and blood pounding.

Ryvan clung to her mother, burying her face in the woman’s shoulder tears rolling down her face as she tried to banish the images from her head, though they seemed to be etching themselves inside of her.

Raven for her part was finding it hard to catch her breath the world seemed to spin a moment before she regained her composure and wrapped her arms around the child in her lap. Whatever had happened the girl seemed to have experienced it as well. She stood cradling the infant in her arms and made her way to the kitchen her body moving as if on auto pilot.

Hands set the trembling child in her highchair before searching out something to calm their nerves, becoming aware that her heart was still pumping wildly she reached to the shelf where she kept her medication and swallowed two of the tiny white pills meant to keep her heart under control.

Once her heart had stopped beating erratically and she had a moment to think she glanced over at Ryvan, who was no longer crying but instead staring at her mother as if the woman was going to disappear any moment now. The child seemed fine, though… wait. She remembered sitting on the couch a baby sitting calmly in her lap, but sitting before her was a distinctly older child, about a toddler Raven would guess.

Malen had told her that the children didn’t grow in the same manner that normal human children grew, but she had never expected? Was that what this was then? Perhaps a vision of the child’s former life?

If that was the case she feared for the girl’s well being when she gained the memories that were certain to come to her as she grew. Raven made her way over to the child and picked her up again, carrying her into the living room to extinguish the candles spread throughout the room.

Ryvan was confused, her body didn’t feel right. It was bigger, she ran fingers through her hair, and her hair was longer. While she played with the wavy hair she vaguely noticed her guardian moving throughout the room and doing something to the candles but she didn’t really care as she was busy, having abandoned her own hair, making certain that her guardian was still intact, that she hadn’t dreamed her dead too, like she had her first mommy.

After assuring herself that the woman holding her was not about to vaporize she calmed down. Everything would be okay then, if she was bigger then maybe she would be able to do more, and play with her friends better then she had. Maybe her and Alek could go exploring the back of the stage again and see more this time since she would be able to walk better.

That made her think though, would Alek be sad that she grew before him? Would Kishi still like her now that she wasn’t a cute little baby? The thought made her sad before she realized that if they were really her friends they wouldn’t care how big she was, just like her mommy didn’t care.

The former gypsy yawned and stretched before wrapping her small arms around her guardian’s neck “Mommy, ‘m sleepy.” The words tumbled out of her mouth masked slightly by a yawn. She really was tired, maybe getting bigger took lots of energy and you had to sleep after.

Raven smiled at her daughters statement and walked the girl into her bedroom, before realizing that none of the clothes she had for the child would fit the girl anymore. She sighed and stripped the girl anyways, changing her and laying her in the crib tucking a fluffy blanket around the redhead.

A lullaby was in order she decided, now that the child was old enough to mimic the words back at her eventually. The words from a story Malen had shown her once, from earth flashed through her mind and she sang.

“I’ll like you forever,
I’ll love you for always.
As long as I’m living,
My baby you’ll be.”

Ryvan was asleep before her mother finished the song, a deep dreamless sleep that would replenish the energy that growing had taken out of her.

Raven would stand there long into the night before finally succumbing to exhaustion herself and stumbling into bed.
