"Well, no, I didn't. I just wondered how they did it, really." She couldn't imagine the complications involved with mixing different animal DNAs. Particularly the ones that would be used to create a gryphon or a dragon or a pegasus, all of which consisted of animals with such different physiologies...She shivered. At least she was just turning into a horse. At least, as far as she knew.
"That's insane."

"Yeah, try being on the receiving end. It hurt like a fenka." She said, wincing as she remembered it. Thank god Richard had been there... That was one good point in a bad situation. She really had to get ahold of him again.
"Let's move to less depressing topics then, shall we?" Shenzi said, her tone quickly switching to a joking, more light hearted energy.

She shrugged, "Sure, what do you want to talk about?" she asked. Her mind was still on the day before, and even earlier when she'd had a chat and a swim with Oz, so coming up with topics was sort of out of the question.

"I know! Let's talk about boys!" Shenzi said, putting on a girly face, her voice turning high pitched and ditzy sounding. After a moment, though, she slapped herself, grinning sheepishly.
She laughed as she rubbed the back of her neck. "I don't know, to be honest." She said, grinning still.

Aislinn raised an eyebrow at her suggestion, then laughed as the other girl did.
"Along those lines, though, you do know Brian? He and I are thinking of putting together a sort of medical/informative practice, where he does research on the critters everyone's turning into and lets them know what to expect...and I take care of any sniffles that may come along. Just y'know, basic stuff the labs probably don't want to be bothered with anyhow. What do you think?"
She was really excited about the idea, and seemed to be bringing it up with just about everyone she met up with lately. But it might really help out on the island, and it -would- give them both something to do.

Shenzi thought about what Aislinn proposed. "Well, what exactly do you mean by sniffles? Like the fever thing when someone changes? But yeah, I think getting stuff about what they're stuck as would definately help, though in some cases I think it'd be a little hard. Gryphons and pegasi aren't exactly common animals..." She said with a hint of sarcasm.

She grinned, "Though, maybe Brian can help you figure out what they mixed together to get the gryphons and pegasi and then you'll know some of what to expect, right?"
She stretched her arms over her head, then took up the cane again, "And I mean, like, for minor injuries, or diagnoses for minor illnesses, that sort of thing. It'll have a supply of basic medical stuff. I know there's already the clinic, but they're staffers there, and I thought it might put people more at ease if it were one of our own."

She nodded to that. "Yeah, good point. Already know it's a bird and a cat, just don't know what kinds." Shenzi shrugged slightly.
Shenzi looked thoughtful as Aislinn elaborated. "Hmm, yeah, that does make sense. Seeing as every Islander has some reason or another to hate the staff. Might be better if were fellow Islanders tending the sick ones."

The woman nodded, "And for checkups and stuff that require cooperation."
She grinned, "Though I still have to get approval from the labs. I just thought I might as well put some of my schooling to use."

Shenzi raised an eyebrow in response to that. "Why do you need approval?" She asked, a frown taking the place of the grin. "Why should the doctors care about that?"

"Well, I have to find a place to set it up, for one thing." She couldn't imagine having people traipse in and out of her duplex for checkups and stuff, "And for another, I'd rather not risk having them get pissy and decide to do something even more unpleasant to me than turning me into a horse. Don't know what that would be, but I'm sure they could think of something."

"Bleh, good point. You could probably snag one of the empty duplexes and turn that into something, but I don't know how well that'd work." How could there be something worse then being turned into an animal? Actually. I don't want to know the answer to that... She thought to herself, shaking her head.

She shook her head, "It'd definitely have to be a ground floor one. And it'd probably need to be bigger than usual in case we had a couple of people with size issues. Besides, when I'm the size of a horse, I'm going to need a lot more space to move around."

Shenzi laughed at that, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "Very good point, there. Especially if someone turns into a whale or an elephant or some s**t. Poor person who might." She grinned sympathetically, hoping no one was.

Aislinn mused thoughtfully, "I wonder if they have an old barn somewhere or something? That layout would be ideal. Sectioned off areas to keep everything private, all of them fairly large. And a storage room."
