Aiden was a bit taken back by how well Lucrezia had explained it. Where did she get such a good grasp on the subject? He certainly didn't know, but he was relieved that he didn't have to explain it again.
"Yes, see, what Lucrezia says is correct," He nodded his head, and smiled at Maxem, "No need for alarm or anything. That's just what we do here. More shows."
He smiled nervously at Maxem, not quite sure if she was joknig or not about wanting a demonstration.
"Well, surely you've noticed that your surroundings have changed. Drastically. Have you not?"

“Yes, but rather I assumed that we had gone over a mountain range of some sort when we were sleeping. I haven’t the slightest idea of what’s around the area. Well, that area, I suppose. “ Her eyes squinted at the two, still trying to determine if this was simply a sick joke or if they were honest-to-goodness here.
She thought Lucrezia had been far too specific and creative to be making her story up, but maybe the girl just had a lot of time on her hands?
“In that case… Just where are you from, Mr. Ringmaster?” Maxem questioned whether or not she should smile with this question. Honestly, her fear at the moment was to be played for a fool and have them admit that the whole ‘world hopping’ bit was just a farce. Who knew, they could actually be actors, and simply pretending to be a ringmaster and an acrobat in order to seem more convincing in their prank.
‘They would need to be darn thorough,’ she thought to herself, ‘in order to trick me.’

Lucrezia glanced over at Aiden, wondering what his reply would be. "I've been wondering that myself," she confessed. She looked back at Maxem, thinking the woman seemed a little too incredulous. Maybe she still thought they were joking.
Oh well. She'd just find out that it was true eventually.

Aiden sighed and frowned slightly. The new ones were always so curious.
"I was born in 1913. In America. I was born into a large family, and I was one of the oldest. We lived through the Depression, and that was a problem. We barely had enough for half the family to eat, much less all of us."
He paused and raised his eyebrows at the two girls.
"See, now we're all here because of the world-hopping. Back in where I come from, it's just 1932. Now, the world-hopping is much, much more complicated than you think it is. And I don't really understand all of it myself. It just works, you know? Now way to explain it."
Aiden looked back down at his clipboard, and looked at what he had written down for Maxem. She was pushy, and too curious, but he liked her. She seemed to have a good work ethic. Maybe.
"So, Miss Mulligen, may I ask why you chose Grete for your mentor?"

Maxem very dearly wanted to ask Aiden everything about his time… To think, thirty-three years into the future… She would be… 53. That was just eerie to think of. That would certainly come later; she would ask him whenever they had a moment alone.
And then he mentioned Grete. She couldn’t lie about this; she tricked Grete into being her mentor. She didn’t regret it, either. Having Grete as a mentor had proved to be a good move. Even now, she was following Grete’s advice by meeting Aiden.
“Well, she was there, I needed someone to show me around, and she owed me quite a debt. It didn’t hurt that she seemed a bit… intoxicated at the time.”

Lucrezia made a slight disapproving face, but elected not to say anything about her own personal thoughts about Grete.
"The fact that she was drunk couldn't possibly have been a good sign, could it?" she asked.

Aiden rolled his eyes at Maxem's answer. He scribbled something down on the clipboard, and looked up, just slightly, from his writing.
"Typical," He sighed, "Well, all right. If you ever need a change of mentor...just contact me." He finished writing, and then looked up at Lucrezia.
"Did we get everything for your act? Did the things that we dug up from the props trailer work for you?"
"Oh, and Miss Mulligen, if you need to go out to buy anything for your act, please, please let me know. That way, I can make a list," He held up and pointed to the clipboard, and then brought it back down, so that none of it could be read, "Of everything that we'll need here on supply. Okay?"

"I'll be sure to. I still plan to stop by the storage and see what you have here, first. I wouldn't want to buy things we already have."
Maxem was more or less starting to feel awkward, but deep down her hopes of being something more than just a croonie were starting to shine. The idea of actually shopping meant she would use what she had shopped for, and that would mean she would be doing something and be useful.
She pawed through her belongings again; she did have enough to have a bit of fun. Maybbeeee. Hmm. Maybe her and Lu could have a celebration later for moving in. Hopefully they would continue to be off to a good start.

"The storage trailer is definitely a good starting point," Lucrezia agreed. "There's so many things in there. You're bound to find something useful." She flashed a parting smile and a wave to Maxem and Aiden and then retreated back into the washroom.

Aiden nodded and smiled.
"I'd be happy to go through the storage trailer with you! Is there a time in particular that would work for you?"
He waved slightly as Lucrezia walked into another room. Now, he turned his full attention on Maxem.
"There anything else I could help you with right now? I've just got to make sure that everything seems to be running smoothly."

“Well now…”
The back of her mind was gnawing to mention his past and ask about what his world was like, but she would bring it up once they knew each other better.
“I still haven’t gotten a tour. I suppose Grete could do that when she has free time, but if you wouldn’t mind me tagging along~….”
Biting her lip, Maxem was hoping he wouldn’t take her as too bold for trying to ask for a tour so early. Even beyond the boldness, he probably had millions of other things to do besides taking a newbie around the place.
“At the very least, if you could point me towards the storage trailer, I’d be much obliged.”
Wow, was she thinking negatively of herself already? It was barely into her cirque career and she was already questioning her drive. That was not a good sign.
She would certainly need to pump her spirits back up with a sparkler or two later that night. Maybe the storage trailer would have something to brighten up her mood.

Aiden nodded at Maxem, and glanced down at his clipboard.
"Well, it depends. I could lead you to the storage trailer now, if you would like Grete to give you a tour. But, if you would rather get a tour from me, I bet I could show you around a bit now."
He smiled at Maxem, and continued.
"So, it's up to you. I'd hate for you to feel like a pill, and not get a tour at all, you know."

"Well, now wouldn't be too horrible. I have free time, and I'm pretty excited to get started with everything. It seems like just such a flurry of new things to see, I'm not sure I can handle myself!"
Really, Maxem did want to ask about the future of the normal world. Surely there were all kind of inventions that must be beyond comprehension. Once they were off on another topic and she had more of an impression of his personality, she would ask.
She had already annoyed countless people with her questions, and quite frankly, she felt no need to push it.

"Right, so," Aiden said, gathering up his clipboard, and exiting the trailer, after saying a brief good-bye to Lucrezia, "Is there anything you'd like to see first?"
He walked out to a general gathering of trailers, and looked around quickly. He figured that he could point out which trailers belonged to certain people, just so that Maxem would know who was where. Just in case she needed to know.
"I'd hate to beat my gums about places that you really didn't care about."

“Mmm. I suppose I need to know just about everything. It took me at least two days to find my own trailer, let alone other people’s. Not to mention that I haven’t the foggiest of where anything is save for maybe… the big top. But that…” She gave a weary look to the large tent and wondered if fireworks could be used inside, “Is a given.”
“Honestly… I don’t know very much about this place, as sad as that may be… One of the biggest things I’m curious about, though, is the name. I may not be particularly fluent en francais, but ‘coeur torve’ seems a bit…. Put offish, if anything. I can’t imagine the masses in France take to that lightly.”
Her expression was painted with both curiosity and a stern sort of concern regarding the response.
