Just curious, is there really a need for two of these book threads? I think it would cut down on clutter if say the book of the month went in one post or a couple of the main GPG Book Club thread. If you wanted any help editing, condesing, moving, etc. we (as mods) would be happy to do so.

I can put all the necessary Books of the Month stuff in a couple of posts. I just didn't know how to get them on the first page where they need to be. I created the mule account so that when I am not able to take care of the BoM (right after Boo is born, most likely) someone else can take care of it and edit those posts. Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is that if our brilliant mods know how to edit the thread so we can put new posts on the first page, I'm more than happy to scrap this thread. 3nodding
I hope this post makes sense. I'm only half awake right now.

Ohhh okay, I wasn't exactly sure who the mule was. I swear I'm not trying to be a hardass here. sweatdrop
Well, so far, what I can think of is to delete the posts up until what Kyoki Marie has all ready set up and then you could post as the Burton mule. There hasn't been that many posts in there and I could copy who posted what and put it in one post in the second page (safe to go ahead and reserve the rest of page one.)
I'm about to pass out and head to sleep, so I hope mine makes sense, cause it's confusing me.
I didn't even think about the mule, I was like "who the heck is that naked guy?" xd

Hm. What if, what if... *is doing quick calculations* What if we kept the first few categories from my thread- the list of books used. They can even be consolidated into one post, to keep sorting easy. Then we have the months book in a post, and the "past books" in a post. Three easy posts for sorting. To clarify, since I'm a little high on hair dye at the moment (yay, 'con pink!): It would be something like: First post: info, ect Second post: info ect, (rules, ect) Third Post: Book of the Month Fourth post: Previous Books of the Month Fifth Post: Book listings for books that were NOT books of the month.
That way there's a place for everything! ^^
(Will the mule's passcode be for all the book club peoples or just the creator?)

That sounds pretty good, I can get started on copying all that stuff to move to this thread tonight after Logan goes to bed. It would probably work best if just select volunteers had the p/w to the mule, just for sanity's sake I would think or for volunteers who have time, but heck, it's ya'll's thread, do what ya gotta do! biggrin

I loved 'Ramona the Pest'. I read it a long time ago, but I remember thinking that she was a very funny character. She was very real for me.

Okay I've moved the BoM down towards the bottom of this thread on the first page. I have it so I can just transfer verbatim the stuff on the first page that was reserved to this one, if that's what you want.

Are you planning on getting a bigger voting committee or are different people going to decided on the books each month?

Hey all, Ayla and I were at the library today, and surprisingly she didnt go for the Dr. Seus today. She picked out some new books which Ive read through now. Couldnt wait for bedtime I like most books that are for kids just as much. Anyways the three are actually quite good. If not (two of them) a little too old for her, but she likes to listen to these sort of things. Anyways...
"Presenting Tanya The Ugly Duckling" By Patricia Lee Gauch and Satomi Ichikawa A cute little book about a girl getting ready to do the play the ugly duckling and how she feels much the same until she is ready for the ballet.
This has great pictures and a cute story to boot. Easy read for kids, and Id give this one just about any age from 3 - 8ish depending on reading skills and attention span.
"The Boy Who Lived With The Seals" By Rafe Martin, and David Shannon.
This story was adorable but the best part was is that it was a story from a compleatly different cultures point of view, as it was originally a native story written down this way for kids by the author. Amazing artistry, and good to read to kids, except the concept is harder to grasp, having a child get lost and raised by seals. A wild child story.
"The Great Race" By David Bouchard, and paintings by Zhong-Yang Huang.
This is another story from another culture, except it tells in its simplist form, the story of how the order of the animals in the chinese zodiac came to be. (Yay Rats and Dragons!! (Ayla and I) ) Wonderful paintings go with the story but its a little long for Ayla to sit through the whole thing. Id go with it more when shes maybe a year or two older so 6 or 7 years old. But you can shorten it further for younger like Ayla, and its a good learning experience for you aswell.

For y'all adults who like happy ending fiction fantasy, go for The Chrome Born. Two books in one by Mercedes Lackey + (meaning her plus another author.) I loves those books!

Burnt Glitter Are you planning on getting a bigger voting committee or are different people going to decided on the books each month? I would like to have a selection committee of as many people as would like to be involved. The selection committee will rotate selection duties. I really need some people to sign-up for the committee since we need some selections for July. Also, I'd love to have a couple of other people who would be willing to check up on this account every once in awhile. PM me (LeVar Burton) if you're interested in either the selection committee or maintaining LeVar.

I hope LaVar comes back to update this!

I'm still around. Since nobody has signed up to be on the book selection committee, maybe I could just have people give suggestions for BoM via comments in my journal which I am going to set up right now.
If anyone would still like to sign up for the selection committee, just follow the instructions on the first page of the thread.

Hey, I just wanted to remind everyone who has suggestions for Books of the month to post them in Levar Burton's journal. I'm hoping we can get some good selections and get a bunch of us reading and discussing those books in November. I know from the discussion in the rants thread that we have a bunch of readers around here. biggrin
