"Y-You gave them faith! How is that bad, huh?! How is giving people strength to move on, to hope for hope, a bad thing, huh!? B-Besides Gaius...I-I really miss my family too. My job. My life. I miss it all. A-And I'm constantly afraid that my heart will just give out...Or...Or that one day I just won't be Marshall. And..." he sniffed again, "Y-You make me less afraid, okay? You, Liamh, Nita, Amaya, Newt, but especially you...You make me feel less afraid, Gaius." Marshall admitted, unable to keep eye contact.
"So...Thats why you're my brother. Thats what I see in you..."

A small smile tugged at the corner of Gaius’ mouth, but it didn’t reach as far as his eyes. It was still hard to believe that he could have that impact on anyone, but hoping… that wasn’t bad, was it? No, he could have hope.
He stood up slowly, picking up the edge of the blanket and his pillow in one hand. Looking down at Marshall, he hesitated, as if debating, then reached a hand out and ruffled the hair that remained atop his feathered head. “Thanks, pal. I think… I still need some time, but I appreciate your sentiments.”
“…” Gaius turned his head in the direction of his duplex, and then looked back at Marshall. “I don’t think I can go back… not yet anyways, but I’ll go find someplace less wet to sleep, eh?”

Marshall got to his feet, looking down at the grass still. He quickly threw his arms around Gaius. He felt rather silly doing this, so he quickly let Gaius out of his hug. "...Just...Just don't get hurt or any thing, okay? Please?"

Gaius blinked, surprised by the hug. He’d been hesitant to give one himself, unsure of how Marshall would take it, but with the short guy as the instigator, Gaius’ surprised expression softened and he gave Marshall a pat on the shoulder as they pulled apart.
“Don’t worry… If I do anything, it’ll be for your sake.” With that mysterious statement, Gaius began heading in the direction of the cafeteria. “You take care of yourself too, I doubt I’d be any good without you!”

Marshall watched as Gaius left, a weak smile on his face.
"...Moron." he sighed, smiling. He slowly turned back to the direction of his duplex. After that, a swim just didn't sound very good. He knew that Gaius' had to figure this one out, not him. But...Helping never hurt, right?
