Obviously weird family dynamics were universal. Or maybe they were only univesal if you were blue and white? Difficult to say, when Safi hadn't been in the habit of cross-analyzing color to family history previously. And he didn't really plan on starting now!
At Kimi's comment, Safi raised one eyebrow curiously, then laughed. "Hiding? Well, you might be hiding Kimi, but I, at least, am ready and willing to face the world!" As he spoke, he struck a dramatic pose, one foreleg lifted and his wings slightly spread before the illusion of majesty crashed and burned as he burst out laughing. "But really, there's not that much more to say about me. I'm relatively dull. But what about you, Kimi?"

Kimi bursted out laughing. Safi was by far the funniest Soquili she has ever met.
"You? Dull? You are anything but dull. You are full of life and spirit, not dullness," said Kimi with a laugh. "I, on the otherhand, am dull. My family life consumes most of my life, or at least, the drama involved in my family does. Although the family drama is looking less dramatic as of late, so I'm finally able to concentrate on my own life. Which is...nice, for a change."
"Do you really mean to tell me there is nothing else to know about you Safi?" asked Kimi curiously. "Because I highly doubt that." Kimi smiled at Safi. Perhaps she was asking too many questions?

"Considering how short a time you've known me, I'll let you keep your misapprehensions for now. But if you wind up spending more time with me, then let me be the first to assure you that I am remarkably boring, not to mention totally obnoxious. Or at least, so I've been told."
Safi was amused now, and by more than the conversation. Of all the caves out there, he'd picked the one with Kimi in it; obviously there was a great deal to be said for dumb luck!
Moving away from the wall he was leaning against to move over towards Kimi, he coulnd't do anything to assuage the wide grin that tended to monopolize his features. EVERYONE knew when he was in a good mood!
"Well, family drama is always exciting; I myself always managed to avoid the stuff, but I got breifly embroiled when my neice and nephew were younger. Now that they're adults, I'm being a decent uncle and giving them the space they need; hovering is for parents, not uncles! Though perhaps a young thing like you would disagree with me." The wink he gave Kimi was purely conspiratorial, with not the slightest trace of a leer that might have accompanied that statement if any other stallion had said it. But then, he really wasn't any other stallion now, was he?
"Sadly, though, it's the truth I have nothing more to really say; I lead a dull life. No mate, no kids, no ties of any sort 'side of the kiddies; I just amble along in my own fashion." Truly exciting, or not! XD "But tell me, Kimi, are you in the habiot of interrogating EVERY new Soq you meet, or did I just catch you at a good time?

"I think I interrogate every Soquili I met," said Kimi with a sarcastic laugh. "No mate or kids? That's not dull. I don't have a mate nor children of my own. Not sure if I'm ready. How about you? Why aren't you settled down? I know I'm asking a lot of questions, but its better than us just sitting in this cave akwardly and ignoring each other, is it not?"
Kimi smiled at Safi, realizing how annoying she must seem. She didn't really care, she felt as if she could tell Safi something dark and he will make it bright. He just seemed to be the type of guy who was so optimistic that he always made your day better.

Well, she was certainly honest. Safi could appreciate honestly, and since he tended to take that tack often enough to have no qualms when someone else tried it on him!
"Ok, so I'm just adding to your fount of useless minutae. Let's see; no mate because I haven't found the Soquili I'm looking for, quote unquote, since I tend to enjoy myself enough on my own to not have my nose put out of joint not having someone around all the time; no kids because I've only practiced the means of getting them once and found it rather to my disliking, to say nothing of the personal circumstances involved," And that could really be a tangent, one he didn't feel much like regaling a still relatively strange mare with. "So here I am. Make it easier to wander about when you don't have responsibility, eh?"
He was smiling at her own kid comment. He'd heard that one before, not being ready to settle down; now if only more couples would think about things like that before they got too cozy with each other, the world would be a more sensible place. But now he was moralizing, even in his thoughts! "At any rate, we seem to have the same idea."

"Exactly," said Kimi, with a nod in agreement. "I hate having a lot of responsibility. That's not to say I won't eventually want to settle down and have a family, but I don't think I'll be that great of a mother, or at least, not yet."
Kimi smiled at Safi, realzing that this topic probably won't lead to anything interesting. "I think I've asked quite enough questions," said Kimi. "Why don't you ask the questions? Get the conversation rolling."
Kimi looked at the cave entrance for a moment to see the snow had gotten thicker. A gust of snow blew in, the cool breeze made Kimi shiver.

"Ah, so now it's my turn to play Grand Inquisitor? Darn, and just when I'd gotten used to the role of victim." Of course, Kimi only had to look at Safi to see that he was enjoying himself. He was a naturally gregarious Soquili, after all, and it wasn't often that he got to talk about his family. But now that he had a chance...
"Hrm." Tilting his head to one side, Safi was mulling over the question of questions when the sudden breeze whipped his mane around. Peering over at the entrance of the cave, he eyed the snow for a moment before chuckling. "So much for getting out of here in a decent amount of time. But oh well, conversation helps pass the time, eh? Here, have a wing."
Having noted the shiver, Safi companionably offered Kimi one of his wings, the other already firmly wrapped around his own body. "Feathers are pretty snug, after all. But anyway, on the subject of questions...are those natural curls?" His eyes glittered with amusement in anticipation of her reaction; somehow, he figured she hadn't meant appearance questions!

"Thank you," said Kimi, tucking herself under Safi's wing for warmth. "My curls? Yes, my hair is naturally curly." Kimi smiled and laughed as she spoke. Of all questions to ask, he asked about her hair? "And you? Is your hair naturally straight?" asked Kimi, attempting to make a joke. Kimi usually wasn't able to make others laugh too much, not too say she was dull or boring, but she just didn't really find herself funny ever.

Chuckling at Kimi's rather matter-of-fact response to his question, Safi realized that he'd have to work a bit harder if he wanted to get shock. Not that he really cared one way or another; it was nice to not have everything he said taken seriously. "Well, techincally yes, but since nothing about me is natural, we'll have to chalk it up to being naturally unnaturally straight. But I thought it was my turn to ask questions, you!"
Laughing, he poked at her nose with his wing, falling utterly short since said wing was busy being used as a wrap. Not that he would have poked hard anyway. Because he was NICE.
But anyway, the proverbial clock was ticking. "Ok, Kimi-who-asks-questions. Moving on from the topic of hair and family..." Hrm. What else was there to talk about? "I take it that you're not very fond of the cold? Ice flames or no, if you're camping out here that has to mean something. So how long are you planning on camping out out here?"

"Oh, just about....forever," said Kimi. "It's not that I hate the cold, I just don't like being in it for too long, there is only so much of it I can take. I'll probably just sit out here until the weather clears up a bit, or maybe just another hour. There is only so much of sitting and waiting in a cave that I could possibly handle too." Kimi curled up a bit under Safi's wing. The wing kept her quite warm, considering the cold weather.

"Sounds charming. Would you be more comfortable if I laid down before you tried that, though?" Abruptly changing topic from remarking on Kimi's comment to remarking on her snuggling attempt, Safi had by this point turned and given her an amused raised-brow look. "Not that I consider myself the shady sort of stallion, mind you; I'm the type of stallion that anyone could trust anywhere," punctuated comment with innocently batted eyelashes, "but do you always snuggle up to strange males in secluded caves?"
Of course, his offer to lie down was pureply practical; he was a decent bit taller than she was, so it was doubtful she could be getting that much warmer. If they both flopped down, she'd probably be able to wrap up totally, which had to be much warmer. Still, she was much more forward than most mares of his acquaintence!

Kimi smiled at Safi and have him a slight nod. "Yes, perhaps that would be more comfortable," said Kimi jokingly. Although Safi's feathers did keep her warm, it only covered so little of her body for she was a bit shorter than him. "Well, not all the stallions I snuggle up with in secluded caves are qute as funny as you," Kimi teased playfully as she gave room for Safi to be more comfortable. "You do seem like the type of stallion that a mare could really get to know well and trust. You don't have that...macho egotistical mindset like most stallions I've come across, you are more...fun-loving."

Flopping down rather gracelessly on the cave floor, Safi lifted his wing so that Kimi could nestle up a bit better. "Ah, so my naturally anti-intimidated personality has become apparent in such a little time, eh? Damn, I'm never going to be able to pull of macho-intimidation, and here I was trying so hard!" If he had fingers, he would have snapped them to add emphasis to that statement; but since he was grinning from ear to ear he figured even snapping would have been moot.
Now that the two of them were more comfortable, though, he figured he could resume the earlier conversation. But first, a commentary. "You know, this is a pretty decent cave. Kinda surprising that no one actually lives here, when you think about it." And indeed, he was actually serious in that comment, though it was doubtful anyone could tell that from the tone of his voice. Still, the cave was quite snug, sheltered, out of the wind...all good qualities for a home.

"I suppose, but there a lot of nicer caves that I have seen than this," said Kimi, thinking of her parents' cave. "My parents live in a rather large cave, has a lot of room for my entire family. There are five of us, although usually just four, but even that is rare. Most commonly just me, my mother and my father. My sister was disowned as a foal, so we don't ever see her, sadly. We thought she'd return home by now. My brother always is off doing his own thing." Kimi paused, realizing that she was saying this all aloud when it was relatively off-topic. "I'm sorry, just rambling," she apologized, feeling embarassed about herself yet again.

And he thought he had familiy problems. Well, no, scratch that, he'd THOUGHT he had family problems, but thanks to the kiddies that seemed to be mostly smoothed over, plus or minus a parental figure or two. Still, he had enough of a similar issue in his past that he was able to be at least somewhat sympathetic.
"Suddenly it makes sense why you're camping out on your own in a cave; when I was younger, that was roughly what my brother Kohana did when I would get too much on his nerves! Sounds like you've got quite the personal soap opera there, at any rate...but at least you've got a nice cave to house said soap opera in. There's only two of us, so I'm going to say that this cave holds a comedy; it would be a sitcom, but we'd need more Soquilis around; but I think that we'll have to go with a comedy, what do you think?"
This somewhat long and seemingly meandering diatribe took Safi only a short amount of time to say, but by the time he was done he was hard-pressed to keep from laughing. Nothing like a chuckle to get your mind off of problems!
