Mereneth sighed. He didn't think it was hard to just barge in and ask his mom anything, anyway his big sister was only a few inches taller than him. Then again, maybe Aure had a problem. He folded his arms, letting the flame still hover near her and cocked his head slightly.
"You mean she won't come out to eat?"

She shook her head. "Ku brings food in to her, and Kieve doesn't have to eat anyways." Aure slumped against the back of the bench. "Imma better go home," she mumbled, kicking at a snowdrift.

Didn't have to eat? He blinked. How could this Kieve do that? Without food, he'd starve. He merely watched the fireball, which was still hovering near her. "Me too."

Aure nodded, sliding off the bench. "See ya, then, Mereneth." Her feet were turning an interesting shade of green, and she stared at them as she shuffled off into the snow, towards her house.

The boy gave a rather small grunt in return; he didn't know exactly what to say. The flame flickered for a while before he made it go out, and then he started walking back.
