Raven laughed, a bit too darkly to be considered anything but a cackle. "No, I suppose it isn't classified. Simply put, I was looking for a position after leaving my old one, and D-Corp had a good offer. The side effects-" she gestured towards Anoki and Myung-Ki- "can be inconvenient, but irrelevant in the long run. Why do you ask?"

Bobbing his head up and down in evident agreement, Anoki giggled. "Th-that's what I th-think too!" Then, with some more thought, he started walking towards the swings. "If you l-like, I c-can p-push you. On th-the swings, I m-mean," he added quickly.

"Mainly curiosity," Raven admitted after a moment. "I like hearing about people's stories." It came as a side effect of having a fairly odd one herself. Like most individuals on Gaia, Raven came from somewhat dubious circumstances, leading as normal a life as she could eke out.

Blinking, Jett considered the boy for a long moment before nodding slowly. "...all right," he agreed, unsure about it, but willing to take a chance. He wasn't used to... people, but it was good practice.

"Really?" Raven raised her eyebrows, clearly surprised. She generally hated hearing about people's personal lives, unless she was doing it to gain their trust or to learn some sort of classified information. Most people she talked to liked to prattle on endlessly about the most boring things, making Raven want to rip her head off. She made a point to keep her speeches short wherever possible, for secrecy as well as brevity. Unless of course the topic was magical theory, in which case all bets were off.

Wow, he'd actually agreed! Giddy with excitement, Anoki proceeded to the nearest swing, but didn't sit. Instead he stood next to it and started to stretch his arms, clasping his hands and swinging them over his head. He wanted to be limber and ready to push with his all.

When he was finally all stretched out, he turned to Jett and gave a thumbs up. "R-ready!"

"Indeed. It lets me remember that each person is... important, I suppose," Raven shrugged slightly. "Every person's connected, if only through the fact that we're all made up similarly." Clinical, and yet it still managed to sound sappy when she said it. Great. She'd never be taken seriously.

Jett sat slowly, considering Anoki for a moment before nodding to him that he was ready as well. One pair of hands gripped the chains while the other rested slowly by his side.

Oh, wonderful, she was talking to a hippie. Briefly raising her gaze to the sky, Raven simply nodded. Her best option would probably be to leave off the conversation there. "I see."

They were both ready! Grinning, Anoki grabbed the chains of the swing just below where Jett was holding on, and pulled them back. He managed to step back, pulling the swing, for a few feet before it got too heavy for him, and he let go. The swing swung forward, and Anoki chased after it, giving the swinger a firm push in the back to really get things moving.

Raven laughed, unexpectedly, giving no reason for the sound. She didn't care if someone else didn't understand what she meant. Everyone was made up of the same base molecules, the DNA strands... it meant something. In a very literal sense.

Jett let Anoki push him, feeling the wind blow through his long hair, teasing it. His legs moved, bending slowly, then relaxing to try to pump himself further into the air.

It looked like Jett was secure. And why not? He had four hands, even if only two of them were holding on at the moment. Encouraged, Anoki pushed again, this time harder, and watched with satisfaction as the swing went higher into the air. It was tiring, pushing like that, but fun enough for Anoki to want to continue.

But Raven had other ideas. She was tired of sitting like a bump on a bench, talking with some idealistic double. She was no soccer mom. Raven Millner was a researcher, a teacher, and had better things to do.

"Come, Anoki Kenelm!" she said loudly, standing up.

Anoki didn't hear, too busy giving Jett another push.

"...your Mother is calling," Jett murmured to Anoki the next time gravity drew him near the other boy. "I think she wants to take you home already." It was bad to get others in trouble...

Raven just watched the other call to her child. She knew Jett would come back when he was ready. Such differences in styles, personalities between two Ravens-- not that Raven really doubted that. She'd dealt with doppelgängers before-- or rather, her own doppelgänger-- and knew better than to think too much on it.

"I d-didn't hear anyth-thing," Anoki lied, giving Jett another push. They had only just started, and he wanted to see just how high he could push the swing. He'd seen other people, mostly adults, actually push it while running underneath, but that was a little scary. While Anoki wanted to try it, he didn't think he was ready just yet.

If Anoki hoped that Raven would be patient, he would find himself out of luck. "Anoki Kenelm, you will come here now!" Sighing, she glanced at the other Raven with a look that said 'it's your kid too, do something.' Not that she expected anything from such a poor imitation.

Raven tried to resist laughing at the other mother as she rose obediently at that annoyed glance, walking over towards the swings. "Jett, come over here," she called as she moved.

Now, Anoki might be able to ignore his mother, but Jett didn't ignore Raven. Well, at least, not without a really, really good reason. So he did the first thing he could think of, since Anoki obviously didn't want to head home yet.

He jumped off the swing, tumbling to the ground in a ball of dark limbs and knotting hair.

Raven inwardly swore and moved faster to go collect her foolish spider child. Trust Jett to do something extreme...

Raven couldn't help but smirk as the spider child tumbled to the ground. Anoki might have been disobedient and occasionally clumsy, but at least he didn't hurt himself constantly anymore. In her eyes, she had the better child, and knowing that gave her pleasure.

Already close enough to help, Anoki quickly dropped to his knees and extended a hand towards Jett, hoping to help the younger boy up. "I'm s-sorry! Did I p-push t-too hard? I d-didn't mean it! A-are you ok-kay?"

"Mother was calling," Jett shrugged as he took Anoki's hand and stood, brushing the dirt off himself. Otherwise he was fairly unharmed, having rolled as opposed to letting himself get tangled on the ground. "Time for me to go," he explained, giving the other boy a slight smile.

"Too extreme, Jett," Raven sighed as she took another of Jett's hands. "Now say goodbye to your friend, and let's go, sweetheart."

"Goodbye, Anoki. And Myung-Ki," Jett turned to bow slightly to the dragon.

Raven rolled her eyes slightly at Jett's formality. "It was a pleasure to meet all of you."

So it had been his fault that Jett had gotten hurt. Or not, since the younger boy seemed okay, but it was difficult to tell. Either way, it probably would have been better had Anoki followed instructions. "I'm s-sorry! B-bye, Jett!"

"Yes, a pleasure," Raven echoed coldly. "Come, Anoki Kenelm. It's time for your lessons to continue."

Sighing, Anoki dragged himself back to the benches, pausing at the slide to shake Myung-Ki awake. It seemed like he would have to work on the whole listening thing, if he wanted to avoid hurting people. Being older meant responsibilities, and he didn't like that one bit.

((Thank you for the RP! biggrin I'd love another one sometime, but this was great!))
