I really don't think the inside art is THAT bad.
Sure, compared to the cover it sucks..
But if I find it, I'd probably buy it.
Even though, sadly, I've never seeen Labynith.

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG.

I happen to consider myself a foremost authority on the Labyrinth manga! This is because I got into it personally with the author! YES I KNOW, SO COOL.

So basically let me list some basic info on the s**t-tastic manga!

o1. It SUCKS. The only thing worse than the art inside is the writing. If you buy it, be prepared for jokes in horrible taste, creepy innuendo, and a godawful Mary-Sue character.

o2. There are three volumes, the next coming out in April. Jareth and Sarah are to have more interaction in the second and third books, but considering that Jareth is wearing dark dark lipstick and Sarah looks like a man, I don't see the point in getting excited over this.

BUT! Here is the story behind my online interactions with the author!


My name is Chelsey and I am pretty hardxcore in the Labyrinth fandom on LiveJournal and FF.Net. I pre-ordered the manga at B&N a few weeks before it was released, and somehow magically got it TWO WEEKS EARLY. After getting it home, I was terribly disappointed by how awful it was, and decided to warn all my friends. With pictures! And scathing commentary!

OH, it was funny. And awful. And funny. Mostly funny.

Then, uh-oh. Some chick posted my little exposé on the Jim Henson forums... where the writer (not illustrator) of the manga happened to be lurking. Not only did he throw a big whiney cry fit, insisting that his manga was THE BESTEST, he... well that's it. Oh except threatening to sue me for copyright infringement. lmao

Considering I posted maybe twenty bad quality pictures from the manga (I didn't have a scanner at the time so I took pictures, and they were blurry for the most part), this was pretty lol. It was super obvious he was just butt-hurt over everyone hating on his manga, but whatever.

Anyways... it got bigger because the drippy girl who linked my LJ sort of got into it with the guy (while I mocked him cleverly from a distance, because I am not an idiot). Eventually she started kissing up to him but whatever. She ALSO linked him the Labyrinth section of FF.Net as an example of what 'Labyrinth fans really want'. To be more precise, she linked him her fanfiction, lmao lmao lmao.

Anyways it all ended in my LJ being BAH-LEETED. I've got a new one and whatev. I was highly amused by the whole thing, except for the part where she nearly got all my fanfiction writing friends in a lot of trouble. (This is Jake Forbes first manga he's written, but he's been with TokyoPop for a while and apparently has a history of trying to pursue litagation). BUT ANYWAYS.

Basically Jake Forbes doesn't like me.

I can't wait for the next volume to come out. So much fun planned.



Oh, and if any of you like The Dark Crystal, the illustrator of it is an absolute doll and talented too. BE SURE TO BUY IT AND SEND HIM FAN E-MAIL. Or real mail!

I unfortunately bought that manga with the highest of hopes but was let down. I understand they were going for a unique style but it just fell short. I am a huge Labyrinth fan, but I still haven't even finished reading the first one (and I bought it back when it first came out).

Also, did anyone else notice that on the cover art Jareth's eyes aren't mismatched like they should be?
