[Dr.Hook] Well, according to Real Player...they were Pop Punk in their earlier albums, but now they're more General Alternative. I'm not sure what exactly General Alternative is though. xp
What the heck. Our Real Players disagree. XD The newer albums to me are General Punk. o.o Well anyways, as people have already said, I think Green Day just makes it's own sub-genre, and anyways, I've never liked genres. They kind of make you want to limit yourself you know? I can proudly say (genre-wise) I listen to just about everything. Yes. That includes classical. Call me crazy, but I like to have variety. biggrin

their music? pop-punk. But they themselves? Oh, they dive far into the realms of obnoxious, pot-head punk.

[XxgothicxX] i would say that there punk/rock cuase there not 100% punk and there not 100% rock so there half and half Ok well they're definately rock...the question is what kind of rock they are. I'd probably go with pop punk, but that's just my opinion.

punk-pop-alternative-emo, all of those mesheed into one. Actually, not really emo. I have a lot of true emo music, Green Day is like, 5% emo. It's hard because there are so many subcatergories, and they keep on multiplying. domokun

they arent punk, they arent rock, pop-punk is a different thingf altogether, i can only hope that the people who said goth rock were joking, so therefore they must be power-pop.

Quote: Haruko Tomoe wrote: Discuss what genre you think they fall into. Personally I'd say pop/punk, sad but true. They are damn good for their genre however. It really depends on what you consider 'punk' in the first place. They aren't nearly as punk as they used to be. They have changed quite a bit from 1039/Smoothd Out Slappy Hours and Kerplunk to Shenanigans and American Idiot. I'll have to agree. They are still really good though. I thought Green Day was more hard-core punk after they released Dookie... but now I put them in the more pop/punk category... and yes, I said pop... sweatdrop They're damn good for pop/punk, and genre really doesn't mean anything to me... Green Day is still Green Day! 3nodding
