The Firenation never tried to kill Aang. If they had, he would just be reborn and they'd have to start thier search all over again. One if the generals said so himself.

And if ang died and their were earth, fire and water avatars what would happen when it was airs turn to be reborn into the cycle? Maybe they wouldnt be able to be reborn again and the cycle of the avatar would die. cry
