"Er, this isn't Haki," Stephan managed to say after a moment of silence, "It's Stephan. I live a few floors up from you." Glancing over his shoulder to the door of Remi's room, he sighed, "And I've got a little bit of a sitation on my hands. Do you know where I can find Hadrian?"

Stephen?
Relieved that the man had given him the little information to go on, he decided he did remember the man. Kind of. Maybe. Wait. A little bit.
Alright so he didn't. No one needed to know that little secret.
"Hadrian? I don't know." deciding that this man _wasn't_ looking for his lover in order to have a torrid affair, he was more generous with his answer. "Why don't you tell me?"
It was more then being Hadrian's partner that made him offer. Marc was curiously nosy.

Telling this person who he wasn't even sure was Marc made him a little uncomfortable, but it was probably best for Gavin's sake that many of the people who could help knew. "Remi's gone," he blurted, trying his best to seem calm though he truly felt like he was going to explode. Maybe Marc would have some good advice, or at least a temporary idea.

Remi?
"She'll be back in the afternoon." although it did surprise him that she would just up and leave Gavin like that. Which he supposed had happened. "Is Gavin there?"
But why would Steph... oh right, the boyfriend! And what was he doing in the apartment? Deciding that this was actually creating more questions then he needed, he hesitated.
Did he want to get involved? Not really. What problems other people made and had were none of his business. Still, deciding that this was REMI they were talking about, he offered.
"Do you want to come here, to my place, or do you want me to go over?"

Stephan wanted to believe that Remi would be back that soon, but it didn't seem like it would be the case. "Yeah, Gavin's here," he answered, adding, "She's been gone for more than a day, and I think she was hurt when she left." Everything about this felt wrong to him. "Could you come over here? I don't want to leave Gavin alone, in case he wakes up." He explained, not wanting the boy to think Stephan had abandoned him too. No, abandoned was a bad word.

Marc paused. Remi, hurt, gone? "Alright." work could handle itself-- he was worried, a little bit.
"I'll be there right away."
And Gavin too-- alone, for more then a day? That sounded awful. He would never leave Haki alone.
For an hour.
Deciding that maybe this might take a while-- and knowing that it wasn't safe to leave Haki alone in the house, he decided it'd do to take her with him. Besides.
That way he could deal with Stephen, and not with the little boy.

While he waited for Marc, Stephan started to look around the living room for any clue to where she might have gone. He didn't find any phone numbers, other than a few takeout restaurants, and the only thing that really seemed odd was the few drops of blood on the carpet. And even those could have just come from a scratch or Gavin's clothes. He had forgotten about the reason he had originally come, now more worried than depressed.

"Haki, stay quiet for daddy and just look cute, okay?" it might have not been the best idea to bring a little kid along, but Marc didn't want to leave her alone-- or enter the situation by himself. Yes, he was a coward in some ways.
((I'll assume the door is still... open?))
"Stephen?" he called out, wary. He had questions, and while he wasn't sure Stephen would have the answers to them, he hoped someone would.

Still kneeling on the carpet, Stephan looked up at the cracked open door. Hearing the voice, he got to his feet, pulling it the rest of the way open. "Marc," he assumed, then forced a smile for the little girl, "And Haki." He stepped to the side, waving them in to the distinctly odd-feeling apartment. "Gavin's asleep right now, he was pretty tired."

Marc nodded his head. Game face! Poker face. Or something like that. "I'll drop Haki off first." the girl knew how to be silent and watchful when she needed to be, and so he didn't think she'd be a problem... for a while. "Then you and I can talk about what happened."
"Where is he?"
Well, it wouldn't do for him to walk into the wrong room. Marc had too much pride to survive something like that.

"He's in Remi's room," Stephan said, sounding a bit saddened knowing she wasn't there to comfort him, and that the condition of it might upset Haki. But still, he pointed to the closed door, adding, "He probably won't wake up when you go in, he'd been sitting out here since she left."

Sitting out here? That would be more then a day. Nudging the door open and walking in, the state of the room crossed his mind-- kind of. Briefly. Marc had never handled anything like this before in his life.
And he was glad to see Stephen seemed to be handling it well.
"Haki, stay here until Gavin wakes up, okay?" he placed her on the bed, deciding that he didn't want to have her free to walk around the room.
Haki nodded.
Meanwhile, Steph and he would talk. Walking back outside, he looked at the other man. "What do you know?" he hoped it was enough.

"I know... Who made her leave, sort of. I think she was worried that he would come and hurt Gavin, he's already hurt her. The blood on the floor, it's hers, Gavin's not bleeding. He said she seemed like she was in a hurry," he said quickly, holding his head in one hand. "But still, I don't understand why she didn't call someone to take care of him. It just seems unlike her to leave him alone." He sighed, "It must have been worse than I thought. We were planning for me to move in to protect them but... I don't know, I just had all this crap to deal with, and I was too late." Stephan knew that this wasn't his fault persay, but it felt like it.

Marc had a feeling why the conversation was slowly starting to make him uncomfortable, but like a coward he decided to stay away from asking the obvious question. Who? No. That would get him even more confused then he needed to be.
"Well, I can take Gavin for a couple of days-- if it'll make it easier. Who are we supposed to contact about guardianship?" Hadrian, of course. Marc was going to drag the mage in to take care of the mess because... well. He was a mage. He gave everyhing to this project already, what difference would a couple more situations make?
Moving in.... Marc reached out to pat the man on the back. It was a mannish gesture, right? "We'll figure this out."
Somehow. Right?

"I'm not really sure," Stephan admitted, "I guessed Hadrian, that's who I was trying to find anyway." At the pat, he managed a bit of a smile, then looked toward the door of Remi's room, "It's weird, being here without her. I can't imagine how Gavin's feeling right now. Think he's going to be alright?"
