"Well, not his birth father, just... Took Yakuti in"
Mafa shrugged lightly, like she said, she wasn't one to judge. If Shira had loved a lion, well that would be different, she'd have to beat that thought out of her head immediately. But another canine was fine for now.
"Yakuti is quite a personality, but he is definitely not the dominant type. He's kinder than most hyenas, trusts all too easily. Apt to get hurt. But he'll have to deal with that."
Mafa huffed lightly, mulling over this situation in her head. This whole mentor/advisor thing was new to her, hopefully, she wouldn't lead Shira in too bad of a direction. Good thing she was usually quite ambiguous.
"He could find better? Better than you? We're you the one that's been seeing yourself above others just moments ago? If you're the best, other than myself of course, how can there be better? I for sure would not aquiesce to any of his advances."

"No comment, Mafa."
Shira looked up and lied down. Perhaps this will take some time for her and Mafa. There was some things to discuss and being Shira, it might take a while. SHe sort of regretted loving Jamaa, he hurt her too badly to love again. Or was it her that would not allow it.
"Yakuti is quite the male. He is just like Jamaa, nice, good, loyal, and seeks power to protect too. He may be young and ignorant, but there is still time for him to grow and learn. But he is his own.
I suppose you are right, there is no one better than me. And for your information, in my eyes we are exactly the same, give or take a few differences, but regardless. Yakuti cannot find any better....unless you want to mate with him."
She sneered. Now she was just playing around. Sometimes she had thought Yakuti beside mafa as her mate and Alpha of the pack, it would suit him in a way, but could he handle such a position? It brought a smirk to her maw.
"Would you challenge me for him?"

"You speak so highly of the boy, what holds you back?"
Mafa scoffed almost silently, shaking her head slowly. Her eyes dazed off, inspecting their surrounding as she listened. Shira's words just about made her laugh. Of course there was better, Mafa was better. They were not equals, they were aquaintances, and Mafa was not apt to see it any other way. She had no equals. She was completely superior. And Yakuti, her mate? Blasphemy.
"Please, do not degrade me to him. The boy is my son's age, in fact, he reminds me of my son in some ways. He is my subordinate, not of my standards."
Mafa tossed her mane lightly. She had nothing against Yakuti, he was a good boy, but that's all he was in her eyes, a boy. Definitely not enough to be mixed with her genes. Anyhow, being Mafa's mate did nothing for one's position in the pack, seeing as her current mate was already at a high standing. Mafa was an elitist, especially when it came to this subject. At Shira's next comment, Mafa couldn't help but chuckle once, replying in a sarcastic tone,
"A challange? To be Yakuti's mate? Please, I forefit. The boy's all yours for the taking, don't let me stand in your way."

Shira chuckled slightly as well, feeling a bit more comfortable upon the subject. She looked down at her paws and back to Mafa with a bit of a smirk.
"Hah, don't make me laugh. Let me guess, you see yourself as this high and mighty female, right? Careful, you may be bordering one of those I come to hate and I'd prefer if you did not become one of them. Besides, aren't I suppose to be your subordinate?"
She chuckled a bit. Mafa was not that close to being one of those of power hungry dominances, no, she had the power to control what she needs to as an Alpha not one to dominate to test strength. She thought. If Mafa thought Shira would simply bend under her command, she was dead wrong. The only reason she even listened and reluctantly did what she asked was primary to things: Yakuti had asked her to and she wished to stay here.
"Are you scared that I may beat you, oh mighty Alpha Mafa? I currently do not see no other in the position of the male Alpha of the pack, remember how I assumed he was the heir when I first came? As for him being for my taking, I will give him time to first learn what love is before he and I make a decision. I am not gonna let an ignorant male jump me."
Her voice was just as sarcastic and at the same time mocking. She smirked and looked out a bit as her mane fell over her eyes.
"However, you have my gratitude for the help. Seek me out if you want something actually done."
A smirk.

"I don't see myself as anything but that which I am. If I was some weak whelp that was eager to comply with everything, I'd see myself as that. But truth of the matter is I'm not. The only ones I wish to dominate are the felines. From my own kind, I only command respect. I see no reason to dominate you or any of my subordinates, unless you act in a way that deserves complete domination."
Mafa knew Shira was going to be a tough nut to crack, but it didn't bother her any. Perhaps her attitude was a bit refreshing. As long as Mafa was on top of everyone's list on who to listen to, they could have all the opinions they wanted.
"Beat me? You'd have to be kidding yourself, Shira. Don't you forget, not only am I bigger, but I've got a whole pack on my tail."
If Mafa could take on a full grown lion, she'd take another hyena no problem. But Mafa didn't like fighting her own kind. Her battle was against the lions, not her own species.
"I do not need a male to help me rule. I am the only and supreme leader of this pack, Tukutu, Mabozi's father, simply is there for advice if I were to want it... Or if I could find him. Yakuti is very much the wrong gender to be my heir, as is Mabozi. Maiti was perfect..."
Mafa's voice trailed off, her gaze coming far away. Maiti was a sore subject, for it was the name she had given her stillborn pup, the female of the two. Mabozi had been quite a giant when he was born, the stillborn female was barely a third his size. She never had a chance. Mafa made a note to go visit the gravesite sometime in the near future, she hadn't done so since the pups were born.
"What is it that you mean?"
Shira's next comment brought a cold reply. Mafa had been getting things done long before Shira ever showed her tawny maw, and she would continue to get things done long after the other female's time.

Shira shrugged.
"Forget it. I guess what I mean is, as Alpha, you need the ability to listen and to get things done. As you may have discovered I have a bad habit of not listening and as for getting things done, I tend to over do. So I cannot lead a pack and so I would not dare overthrow you at all otherwise it would place me into a very complicated situation."
Shira was not the one to be able to lead, nor was she one to listen to one's commands and do things right but overdo. She would fight Mafa if need be, but she would not claim the right to the lead the pack, she'd rather forfeit if that was the only prize she would achieve. She'd let someone else that it that was much more...appropriate than she was.
"The pack on your tail, I would assume so. But would that be very noble to fight with odds stacked against the opponent? That is like saying I had the entire rogue hyena population on my side against the pack. Either way, I would end up on top."
She chuckled a bit, her tone jokingly as she gave another sigh. Apparently, she had hit something of Mafa's when she spoke of someone named "Maiti".
"Forget it, Mafa. Just if you want me for anything, just come get me you know where I'd be. Anyways, I should head on back and talk with Yakuti, should I send him your way? I think you should talk to him since he has been looking for you as well."
The female rose to her feet with a slight crack from a stretch. Lying down was a bit uncomfortable at times. Actually, going home was a deterr of good and bad for her. She wanted to go home and get some sleep, seeing Yakuti and the newest inhabitant of the den. On the bad side, Yakuti would be there....
"Should get going."
She murmured as she started back to the skull that Yakuti dug himself. Perhaps she would have to think on this a bit more.

"Can't lead, can't listen, now where does that leave you? I'd suggest learning to do one of the two, the latter I'd prefer."
Mafa blinked solemnly, giving a slight nod. Trying to take over would leave Shira in a very complicated situation indeed, ie, dead. Very dead. Of course, being lead female was quite a taxing task. Always having to put others in their place, making sure everything was running smoothly, making appearence for her followers. Very taxing indeed. But of course, Mafa was perfect for the job.
"Nobility means nothing to me, only victory. Win by any means necessary, you best learn that too."
Mafa shrugged lightly, standing from the spot she had been seating in for the past few minutes. Quickly, she shook out her pelt, sending a cloud of dust flying into the already dry air. It seemed an apt time to end this little chat, Mafa was growing on the hungry side, perhaps a small snack was in order. To Shira's comment, Mafa nodded,
"Yes, send Yakuti over. I'll be at my den eventually, he can find me there. Pleasant little chat Shira, but that all ends here."
Mafa turned also, ready to run her own way, only her head was swiveled back and looking to Shira, waiting for a last reply.

Shira paused and looked back to Mafa with a small smirk. She had nothing else to say. All she did was smirk.
~
Entering the den she called home, shared with a small inhabitant and the hyena she cared for. A few hesitant steps inside before trying to give a smile. Too weak. Giving up, she smirked instead. There was no turning back now if something were to go wrong. However, she'll handle it.
"Yakuti?"

Seeing him inside with Omoa she paused.
"Yakuti, Mafa has asked for your presence at her den. She wishes to speak with you. Better not doing anything stupid to jeopardize our place in this pack. You better build up your ranking or I will make sure you do."
At first her voice was soft, but it quickly returned to the cold tone she had always had. Silenced, she came to the corner and curled herself up. Now there was another who knew her secrets..... ((That's it for Mafa/Shira))

Ever since the 'talk' Yakuti had with Shira the other day, he had been rather depressed. The blue hyena had been trying to keep his mind off Shira. At first it was because it was what she wanted, but before long it became for his own sake too. If he thought of her, he thought about how much it stung for her to yell at him... He had been talking to Omoa to keep his mind occupied.
His ears perked up as he heard Shira's voice. "Okay... Come on Omoa, you gotta come meet Mafa now." Yakuti said, trying to sound friendly to Omoa. It wasn't her fault that he felt terrible. "... See you, Shira..."
He left quickly and without another word, though making sure to explain to Omoa how to act around Mafa once they were a decent way from their den.
They walked for a while and eventually came upon Mafa's den, she wasn't there at the moment, but she would be soon. Yakuti and Omoa sat nearby and waited in silence for the Alpha to arrive.
