Note: The journal starts at an unusual place in the pregnancy because Gaia ate the first few pages of the original journal during one of its server change overs and I never get the pages back.

Quote: 20th June 2004 Most of the babies room is finished now, walls painted, carpet laid and furniture put up. There is a cot, a tall dresser and a sturdy changing table all in pine which has a beautiful honey colouring to its wood. I'm still waiting on the delivery of my baby goods, which as I'm getting larger now I hope arrives soon. The baby hasnt dropped down yet, my bump is still round and high up, not lower the way it goes just before the baby is nearing full-term. Honestly I think I might miss being pregnant. Yes I got sick, and had some worrying moments but on the whole it has been a joyful time. The months have seemed to fly by, and I can't believe how big I've gotten. Bending down has gotten really hard to do, and I'm walking with a definate waddle now. Sati called me a duck the other day, but she scuttled away laughing when I gave her my look. There are a few reasons I won't miss being pregnant. Sex is really awkward now, I'm going into details but I'm sure it must be akin to being in bed with a hippo for David right now! Swollen ankles, and the fact that maternity clothes look like tents. I won't miss that. I'm still unsure of what to name the baby, but hopefully another clinic visit will tell us the name.

David Wolfenbrother Dear Diary, Gods, how the time has flown. Sayuri is nearing the end of her pregnancy. In some ways i'm going to miss her being like this. The glow of life around her, the feel of her carrying a life in her, her, ummm, friskyness. But then there is the moodyness, and the sickness, and the cravings, which i won't miss. Well, i'm off to put together the last of the furniture that she bought for the baby, and to look through a name book.

Kamiki *Sayuri's pregnancy seems to be coming along nicely. The baby is relatively quiet until the full moons, when its moves around quite a bunch. Not so much violently, but just as if it is full of energy. At one of their final clinic visits, Kamiki is able to finally get a good ultra-sound that shows the sex of the baby. Congrats, you should be expecting alittle girl!*

David Wolfenbrother Dear Diary, Well, we can at least narrow down the names now. We are expecting a beautiful baby girl. I'm partial to the name Rhiannon, though we will have to see what Sayuri thinks of that. Well, i'm off to look through some baby books and find some girl oriented toys.

Quote: 21st June 2004 Sayuri sat nervously in the clinic, her hand squeezing David's, and by the look on his face she was squeezing to hard. She lessened her grip, with an apology, knowing that he would forgive her as he knew why she was a little stressed. The pregnancy was nearing the end, and as she felt every movement as the baby turned, swimming around within her womb, she had gotten nervous at the thought of being a mother. Now, this was one of the last visits that she would need to make to the clinic before going into labour, and she was hoping that maybe the baby would be in a position to be able to see what sex it was. Her name was called, and they both went into the examination room. As before she lay on the foam padded table, her now large belly smeared in gel and in a few moments a picture of the baby was on the monitor of the ultrasound machine. Sayuri cried again, holding David's hand as she looked at the screen. 'That's our baby,' she managed, smiling, tears streaking her face. They watched the monitor together, whilst Kamiki gave them a moment's privacy then she came back. She then informed them that the baby had cooperated this time and she now knew the baby's sex. She informed them both that it was a girl, and after the appointment was over they left for home in a daze of happiness. Sayuri sat down with her diary when they were in the house; I think I couldnt be happier now. I have within me a daughter, a baby girl. Seeing her on the ultrasound monitor, so much bigger then last time made me joyful and nervous all at once. I dont know if I'm ready for the actual mothering! David doesnt know how panicky I am - I dont want to tell him because I'm sure he is just as nervous! I guess I should tell him - then we can be the blind leading the blind or something. The babies room is almost finished which I think is a good thing. I have a few weeks left only and have already had a few Braxton-Hicks contractions - which scared the hell out of me at first. I thought I was already going into labour but after reading through my baby books and calling the clinic to confirm it I was able to relax a little. Which is what I think I'll do now, go and put my poor swollen feet up.

Kamiki *the baby goes back to being "well behaved" for a week or so. Until early evening one quiet night, you feel a very odd sensation - not just a quick pain- but something else... it suddenly occurs to you - your water has broken! The wave of initial panic waves over you and for a few moments, you can't seem to do anything but stand there. Your gaze drifts to the large window in the room with the curtains drawn, and you realize that you're being bathed in the light of a full moon*

Quote: 23rd June 2004 Sayuri eased herself into the hotspring, sighing as the water lapped around her. She gently sprinkled water over her now very large belly, relaxing a while and soaking away her aches. After a while she got back out, towelling herself and looking in the full length mirror. 'Not too many stretchmarks,' she mused - the cream she had rubbed into her skin every day had certainly helped. Then something struck her, her belly had lowered! Was the baby now in position for the birth? She certainly felt slightly different and her breasts were very tender and heavy. She walked slowly to the bedroom, sitting down on the bed and pulling her journal to her; I believe that labour might be imminent. Maybe within the next few hours. The baby has dropped within the womb, the position of my belly has dropped and its now alot lower then before. I'm feeling very tired, not even my warm bath revived me and at this point all I want is for my little girl to be born. She could only manage a short entry, and lowering herself down, she shut her eyes and tried to sleep.

Quote: 23rd June 2004 Sayuri had woken early the next day, feeling a little more energised. She spent the day nesting, moving furniture around, trying to settle. As evening drew in she found herself in the bedroom once more. She had a mind to make a journal entry but she suddenly gasped, her hands flying to her belly and she bent a little. A liquid sensation was felt between her legs and she paniced a little, crying out; 'David! David! Come quick!..' she stood, leaning on the bed, panting in a little bit of fear, and she cast about for something to take her mind of it. Through the window slanting beams of moonlight fell onto her and she laughed; 'Going into labour on the night of the full moon - who would have guessed?' she said wryly...

David Wolfenbrother David runs into the room, and catches the scent on the wind. "Its time?! Oh gods! We need to get you to the hospital!" David runs around, gathering things quickly, looking to be on the verge of panic, piling things on the bed, and shoving them into a suitcase, stopping to kiss Sayuri. "I love you dear." David gently leads Sayuri into the garage that is conceled in one cliff, and leads her to one of the tarp drapped vehicals, whisking of the cloth to revel a shelby gt 500. David grins a little as he settles Sayuri in the passanger seat, climbing into his own seat to start the car, and trigger the the doors, and then takes off down the road, speeding a little to get to the hospital. Quote: Sayuri had panted the whole way to the hospital, completely oblivious to the journey, only concentrating on remembering the classes she had taken. She tried to breath deeply, and calmly, as another contraction hit her just as they were pulling up outside the hospital. David led her inside, and they went to the reception to check in. David Wolfenbrother David follows Sayuri, fussing over her, a happy, yet paniced look on his fast. His baby daughter was coming! What was he going to do! Kamiki *Sayuri is checked in promptly and they quickly get her into her room. Unfortunately, the birth isn't an easy one.... at all. The contractions start coming fast and hard. The clinic doesn't allow anything but natural childbirth anyway, but the doctors say there would be nothing she could do for the pain anyway... the baby is coming too quickly to do much of anything but grin and bear it* David Wolfenbrother David stays with Sayuri, holding her hand, kissing her forehead and wiping away the sweat there, wispering how much he loves her, comforting her as best he can. Watching the doctors for their reaction to all of this. Quote: Sayuri screamed, her eyes shut tight. The contractions had been virtually non-stop once she had be shown to her room. She sat up in her bed, leaning forward clutching her belly as another ripped through her. She panted, gritting her teeth as yet another came on her and she had an overwhelming urge to push. She pushed as hard as she could, then collapsed back, sweat pouring off her as she lay there waiting for the next. Tears streaked her face and she turned to David; 'David, it hurts so much - I ...' she screamed and doubled up again. Kamiki *the doctors look concerned at the rate of dilation, but not paniced. In less than a hour of coming to the hospital Sayuri is being told to go for her final pushes. Its difficult, but after only a few minutes (it seems like hours for poor Sayuri), the high-pitched wail of a new baby is heard throughout the room. The doctors shove a pair of scissors in David's hand and tell him to cut the chord.
The baby is quickly cleaned up alittle and the doctor goes over and hands Sayuri's her new daughter. The wiggly little girl stops crying for a moment and looks up at her new mommy with baby-blue eyes.
The nurse comes by with her clipboard. "For the certificate - do you have a name picked out?" Quote: Sayuri sits back on the pillow, sore, battered and feeling a little overwrought. She held her breath as her new daughter was placed into her arms, then burst into tears of happiness. The baby wriggled a little, then looked straight at her. Sayuri's heart just melted and she touched her daughter on the cheek. When the nurse spoke she looked over at David, her love, the poor guy who she had nearly attacked during the painful labour and she smiled before turning to the nurse again. 'Rhiannon,' she said softly. 'Her name is Rhiannon.' David Wolfenbrother David tears up a little as sayuri says that, and smiles at her and the baby, and then winces a little, craddling his hand, turning to the nurse. "Ummm. Could i get this x-rayed. I think i broke something." David smiles a little, and sticks out his tongue at sayuri. Quote: Sayuri laughed at this, shifting very gently on the bed. 'Well you try pushing a melon out your pee-hole and then you can break my hand.' she rocked Rhiannon softly, stroking her little cheek, marvelling at her tiny hands and little fingernails. David Wolfenbrother David chuckles weekly, following the nurse to the radiology department, stopping to kiss both Sayuri and Rhiannon gently before going. "I love both of you." Quote: Sayuri smiled after him; 'Love you too honey - hope it isnt broken.' she said as he left the room. She kissed Rhiannon on the head, who wrinkled her face up and blew a tiny bubble. A nurse came by who took them both to another room so that they could both recover. It was a small private room, and Sayuri sank gratefully under the clean sheets whilst the nurse held Rhiannon. When she handed her back Sayuri touched her daughters little hands. Rhiannon wiggled her feet under the blanket, then latched onto Sayuri's little finger with one small pudgy hand. Sayuri felt tears welling up again and she cried a little. 'I'm sorry my darling one,' she said. 'Mummy isnt sad, just a little tired.'

Quote: 24th June 2004 Sayuri shifted in the hospital bed, still feeling a little tired and alot sore. She had slept relatively well, not hampered now by a large belly. Rhiannon had slept in the nursery with the other babies on the ward, and Sayuri now waited for the nurse to bring her along for a feed. Her breasts felt heavy and tender, so it would be a relief to do so. She flicked the television on whilst she waited, but finding nothing that interested her she turned it back off. A while later as she was drifting into sleep again there came a knock on the door, followed by it opening and a ward nurse came in holding Rhiannon. She piped a cheery hello, and Sayuri sat up, holding her arms out to take Rhiannon. The nurse left and Sayuri opened the front of her nightgown that she had worn just for this, exposing one breast and cradling Rhiannon so that she could latch on to her n****e. Which she did, hungrily suckling away, with a quiet snuffly noise to accompany it. Sayuri sat back a little, smiling down at Rhiannon. 'Its a weird feeling, but in a wonderful way,' she said quietly, and she stroked Rhiannons cheek. She wished David could be here to see this first feed but she imagined he had gone off celebrating last night and was now nursing a hangover. She giggled. Well she had crushed his hand, he deserved a little fun.

Quote: 25th June 2004 Sayuri stood next to the hospital bed, fully dressed, cradling Rhiannon in her arms. Her little suitcase was all packed again, and she waited for David to come fetch them so she could take Rhiannon home. Her new little daughter had been checked up and weighed again, and both mother and daughter were deemed fit to go home. She had called David to come pick them up and take them home, and while she waited she chattered to Rhiannon, describing the house and grounds to her. She knew that the baby couldnt really understand her words, but she gurgled away in response, waving her little chubby hands about.

David Wolfenbrother David walks into the room, a cast on his left hand, smiling ear to ear, kissing Sayuri on the cheek, and looking down at Rhiannon, smiling gently. "You ready to go home little one?" Quote: Sayuri's eyes widened and she looked contrite. 'Oh love - did I do that?' she leaned towards David and kissed him in return. Rhiannon looked solemnly up at David, blinking at him, then waved her hands at him. Sayuri smiled; 'You want to carry her? I think you should,' she said, holding Rhiannon out to him. David Wolfenbrother David smiles a little. "It's nothing dear." He stops a moment, and blinks a few times "Could I?" David looks a little shy, and gently takes Rhiannon in his arms, looking down at her, smiling a little. "Hello there Sweetie." Quote: Rhiannon screwed up her face, working out whether to cry or gurgle at this new person. She sniffed a little, then hiccuped instead. Sayuri giggled, picking up the suitcase. 'Let's go home then,' she said, going over to the door and opening it. David Wolfenbrother David smiles tenderly, following Sayuri down to the lobby, leading her out to the Cooper Mini, gently strapping Rhiannon into her car seat, smiling a little at the glowing imitation moon he had on the back of the passenger seat, helping Sayuri in before going to the drivers seat, buckling up. "Ready to go home?" Quote: Sayuri nodded. 'Yes please,' she chuckled. 'Even though I get to bring home a beautiful baby daughter I dont think Ive ever been so pleased to leave a place. It reminded me of the labour all the time.' Rhiannon gurgled, fascinated by the glowing moon. David Wolfenbrother David smiles sympetheticly "I'm sorry hun. Lets go home." David slowly pulls out into the street, heading for home, being catious.

Quote: 26th June 2004 I am so very glad to be home. To be able to sleep in my own bed. Well, that is when Rhiannon actually lets me sleep! She is keeping the same hours as when she was inside me. She cries alot. Fills nappies fast, feeding her every few hours. She's made my nipples very sore, she suckles in a very demanding way. She is a very alert, bright child, watching everything with her big beautiful blue eyes. A few thing's seem to calm her. The moon - she watches it cross the night sky whenever its clear enough for her to see it. Her father - she is definately going to be Daddy's little girl. She reaches out for him whenever she sees him and gurgles as if trying to talk to him. Sayuri stretched after writing this, looking into the moses basket beside her, reaching in and tickling Rhiannon's cheek. 'You are so precious to me,' she said softly. Rhiannon shifted in her dreams, jamming a chubby hand into her mouth and sucking on it.
