They can ban the notebooks and writing and that sort of thing, but banning the whole thing? That's kind of harsh...especially when the anime/manga is soo cool!

yeah, I have a load of Chinese girls in my boarding house, and they always look suprised when I'm reading DN and they're like "WTH, you know it?!" Most westerners here don't like manga.
Anyhow, that was off-topic, what I was going to say is there's a lot of fake (but good!!) Death Notes (as in, a notebook that looks almost exactly like Raito/Ryuuku/Misa/Remu's) to buy in Hong Kong (and mainland, I think) and very cheap, so a lot of people have one. They're easy to get. But yeah, that's where I heard from, from my friends whos friends notebooks were confiscated. I myself have one, I haven't actually written in it yet, but whenever someone annoys me I pull it out of my bag just to get a laugh out of my friends...! lol

I heard it was banned because they considered it a type of bullying in schools. Kids were making their own Death notes then threatening to write other kid's and teacher's names in it. Obviously, nothing would have happened to them, but i guess in a way it could be taken as a hint that you want someone to die!

It would have been banned because the idea of writing someones name down to kill them is a hatred harbouring thing to do. In a way you could say it's a form of violence without being violent ^^;;
These kids are having the thought 'This person should die' and that it...really bad. Even if it were a joke, to joke about killing someone teaches kids that life ain't that important.
I think it's a good idea to ban it in schools.

yeah, it is over doing it. But then again... it's CHINA right...
China can do w/e they want (including making fake soy sauce, dyed vegatables and oranges, fake noodles, fake baby food, fake FERRARIS, slightly poisoned eggs, etc etc)

i dont think its china's fault, rather they just didnt want kids to think that they can kill everyone by writing names in the death note sweatdrop
or think that killing people is right (because they made RAITO the main character >.> )
